Crysis 3 crashes on startup

Post » Thu Mar 07, 2013 6:52 pm

Every time I try to run Crysis 3, it crashes saying "Crysis 3 has stopped working".

Things I have tried:
- Updating NVidia drivers to the latest
- Re-installing Crysis 3
- Re-installing Origin
- Repairing Crysis 3
- Updating DirectX
- Updating Windows
- Removing all overclocks from my system

My system is pretty beefy, so I don't think that is the problem:
Intel i7 @ 3.8 Ghz
12 GB RAM
2x GTX 670 2GB in SLI

Has anyone experienced this issue? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Are you running PrecisionX or anything like that?

I am not actively using it. As far as I am aware, my video card is at its stock settings. I've even tried underclocking it, but that didn't help either.

Exact same issue here, though I found a work-a-round for now..

Go to the Crysis 3 directory, mine is:

Computer>Local Disk (D:)>Program Files (x86)>Origin Games>Crysis 3>Bin 32

and open the "Crysis3" app.

Started right up with no problems for me, hope that helps.

EDIT - I take it back, this worked for only a short time.. Upon starting the campaign, after loading, I saw only a still black screen followed by the game completely closing. No error or anything.

This method will not even open the game now, same error as the OP.

..wtf crytek..

I have pretty much the exact same setup you do, Core i7 920 @4.3ghz, 12gb, 2xGTX 670 Sli. Does the same exact thing, instantly crashes. I am on the beta Nvidia Drivers 313.95, which were specifically for Crysis 3. This svcks. I hope we can come up with something.

I got it working. In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Crysis 3\Bin32 right-click on Crysis3.exe, Properties, Compatibility, check Run this program in compatibility mode for: Pick Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and 'Run as Administrator' magically works. Will NOT work if you select Windows 7 like a normal person would. I'm on Windows 8 x64 BTW. C'mon Crytek, Windows 8 has been out for a while now...

Unfortunately, that solution does not work for me.

HOOO. I think i found a solution. So yea, i tried a couple of old games to test out my laptop. And i notice this problem when wanting to launch Warhammer Space Marine. dx3dx9_43.dll is missing, so i do a couple of research and bla bla and the solution is to install DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 . after downloading and isntalling, boom. Crysis 3 is working fine on my laptop.

Hope this will work with you guys too.
