You do realize that you just took a random scene from Crysis 2 and compared it too one of the best looking scenes from Crysis 1. I could find some terrible looking parts from Cry1 as well..

Crysis 1 Was Dull Looking Without Graphics Mods, So Crysis 2 Might Be The Same Way, We Will Just Have To Mod IT Up When We Get IT :)

PS:Crysis 2 Has More Random Objects And Detail In It Levels Than Crysis 1.

If you think Crysis graphics were dull, you gotta be on something. Unless you're the kind of people that thinks that extreme bloom + extreme contrast = good graphics.

If you go back and play Crysis 1 without any graphics mods you will notice that things aren't as great as you remembered.

PS: I don't like extreme contrast, give me headaches :)

/\ and if you go back and play Crysis 1 without any graphics mods you will notice that that's not true.

I still play Crysis 1 from time to time, and I never use graphics mods, the game looks good because it looks REALISTIC. It's pretty, but it's still more realistic looking than the super-HDR glow/Lens flares everywhere that is Crysis 2. Graphics mods in Crysis 1 just make the game look like every other game.

And there are way more high detail objects in a Crysis 1 level than in Crysis 2. Crysis 2's backdrops are somewhat faked, showing only parts of the building and nothing below them in the BG, while Crysis 1's are all real.

I just did a full playthrough, twice by now. Crysis and Warhead, with and without graphics mods. Even without any mods the game is stunningly beautiful, it certainly is anything but dull. The only place where anyone can see the reason why you say that is the right at the beginning at dawn, since the world has a more monochromatic tone, as it should since the sun has only started to rise. And it doesn't make it any less beautiful.

I think you people are all on some ignorance drug or something. Sure, there might be higher resolution textures in the first Crysis and sure, there is a lot of cool looking vegetation in the first game, but that's about it.

Everything else is better in CE3 (aside from hardware based AA, which wasn't possible with deferred shading). SSAO is much better, lighting is much better, there's global illumination, the sceneries are much more rich and detailed. Seriously, anyone who thinks that the first game (vanilla) is so much more better looking just because there is more vegetation and slightly higher resolution textures is on some ignorance drug. I don't know why you're on that, but quit it, there are enough trolls in this world as it is.

Actually those scenes from Crysis weren't that good. Go look at some of the Crysis Art Threads floating around. They are Awesome. Then compare to C2.

But in the end, we really need to port a map from Wars into C2, and vice versa. Then we can REALLY compare.

I completely agree, I never used graphics mods and I thought crysis was still one of the most breathtakingly beautiful games I've ever seen. I could understand using mods to enhance crysis 2, since it doesnt look as realistic as crysis 1, but crysis 1 already looks so good using mods is just completely unneccesary.
