dragon age 2 HRT did not require 64 bit so I don't think Crysis 2 HRT will need 64bit. Lots of VRAM but not 64bit. Plus Crysis 2 is a console port, crytek is only developing DX 11 because of the next xbox. Crytek is svcking on some M$ nutsack.
Crytek being lazy aside I still have not played Crysis 2 because of DX 11.
Will be playing Dirt 3(DX11) till the patch is available.

Heh...yeah you do that. DIRT looks exactly the same in both DX9 and DX11 (oh noes the crowd has more wireframe. too bad you never see the crowd while racing.)

Also DIRT is a **** game in general. Much better racing games out there.

Hope my system will at least handle the textures. My guess is that tess will be more than my rig can handle @ 1080p.

Specs
i7 2600k(no OC yet)
Asus P8P67
2x2gb 1333
GTX 470 700/1400(may OC further)
Corsair HX 650w
7 64bit

What happens if I download the DX11 pack but I only have a DX-10 enabled graphics card? Is there any benefit to me at all if do this?

I do have a 64-bit PC.

Well here is my two cents.

Considering the different problems that have plagued this game from the get go Im not getting my hopes up. Sadly I am expecting a half baked patch only because that seems to be the quality up till now more or less..

hopefully im wrong.

Dude... your PC is more than capable of tessellation... You can adjust the amount of tessellation you know...

I didn't read everything about the patch so I wasn't aware of tessellation being adjustable. In general I'm an all or nothing type of guy so if I can't crank it I won't bother, but we'll see. Thanks for the info. The 1st game is still my favorite though regardless of how good this patch will make 2 look. lol

All in all I'm excited to see Crysis 2 using DX11!!!

Damn I hope my rig is up to par:

i5 2500k @ 5.0 vc 1.43 24/7 stable (blend/ibt w/avx etc etc) max temp load 65c
gbp67ud7b3
mushkin redline 16gb 4x4 9-9-9-24-1t 1.6v @ 2133
gtx 570 3-way sli - 890/1710/2020 vc 1.1
ssd's sata iii raid 0
ax1200 psu
lianli case
hklabs quadrad(2), ek waterblocks, mips ram waterblock, ek res, d5pumps blah blah blah

Now that I think of it this rig will probly run this with ease...................I do laugh at the clown going on about multi only being stale. Well, I have the ek full cover chipset block and I can still pump out an additional 200mhz on this rig (as well as multi to 57 on 1.6vc sucide runs). Besides, why is it stale just because it's easier. Please, dont gimme that crap about oc'ng used to be an art line lol. Stale or not, 5ghz stable is what it is and except cinebench will hold or pass a 980x, fact........

For three 570s you really should have an i7, i can't see that Israeli CPU being able to manage all three, you would need the HT of the i7s.
Yeah, if you can pass the FSB 100MHz mark that's fine most can't, i couldn't with my mobo, once i learned that fact i was put off immediately, see i just put together a nice 1156 rig so i ain't gonna upgrage the mobo till at least Ivy Bridge, and if that's just multiplier OCing we may look into a socket 1366.
The Sandys don't do it for me at all, and if i did go 1155 i'd at least have the 2600k.

lol, you took the words out of my mouth. I originally got the i5 just to see what it could do since I was coming from an amd965. I didn't really think I'd need ht so I finished up my rig and went on my way. Next month, the z68 mini-itx will be out from zotac which will gimme the options to oc my i5 so what I'll do it grab an i72600k, put it in my main rig and dump the i5 to the mini-itx. I think it's gonna be a fun build.

sugo 06
gtx 560ti w/waterblock (if they get one out by mid july,k if not generic mk60 with ramsinks or even stock)
i5 2500k w/ek waterblock
whatever ram it'll need
ssds raid0
1 140 HKrad push pull
slim optical
undecided on res and Ill use a small laing pump (not a d5 the other smaller one I cant remember the name as Igot it in a lot buy)

It's gonna be small and it's gonna be fn fast. I just grabbed new router bits to make some slick windows and will hack up the case wherever it needs to be. Im optimistically hoping for 4.7+ using just multi and the board accepts native 2133 ram so probly another mushkn kit. But nobody knows yet as the damn boards arent out yet and I cant see going h67 since whats the point if no oc......

I found a screenshot...

You can see it is the install window of the High Res Textures, you can see you need a 64bit system and a graphic card with 768MB. :P

I found the screen here! :)

If this is right, and it really needs only 768MB VRAM, I am happier than you can imagine.....My GPU has only 768Mb VRAM (dedicated).....well, I already made plans to install MaLDo's Textures (if Cryteks won't work), because I think they need less memory.....
I have 6GB RAM and 64bit Win7, Quadcore.....the bottleneck is the GPU...

I'm not even excited about this. I thought I would be when it was released, but Crysis 2 was such a disapointment that I don't think adding DX11 over 3 months after release brings anything to the game. Crysis 2 is already long forgotten.

Well you can adjust it in NVidia Control Panel, right? I mean, I know I can in Catalyst for my ATI/AMD...

so are you guys going update destruction as well?

When the sandbox comes out can we mod the game to create destructible buildings?
