Crysis 2 Editor and Free CryENGINE 3 SDK announced!

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:24 am

**** yeah. I knew Crytek would redeem themselves. Once this and the DX11 patch are out...their word will be true...that Crysis 2 really is their best PC game so far.

Do you get the feeling that they realised that pissed off their fanbase? :) Ah well, just don't do it again for crysis 3 crytek.

http://crymod.com/

The site will be down til the 29th but Yerli posted a letter on the homepage.

Thoughts?

I for one an getting more confident that CryTek is working hard to make Crysis 2 and the CE3 modding experience as great as they can make it.

Who is the assf*ck that actually noticed the "Press Start to Begin" and spread it around? Most gamers would never even notice something like that, but some doucheface made a huge deal out of it.

And yes, once the DX11 update and mod tools are out, I will humbly apologize too.

Oh no, I'm only apologizing for complaining about the lack of mod and Dx11 support. The game is still full of bugs though, and we still have to bich about that.

That would be cool having the entire community's custom maps available. It would be entertaining to see a console fall flat on it's face from trying to run a mod comparable to real lifesys.

This does not change the fact that I am unhappy with the game, BUT Crytek is staying true to there modding commitment and for that they deserve a pat on the back. Well done and Thank You.

So to go over the details again:

Our next release will be the Crysis 2 Editor, this is for those of you who want to create content for Crysis 2. In August 2011, we will launch our Free CryENGINE SDK for all of you who want to create totally new content on CryENGINE 3. If you just want to make fun, free projects, you can do that free of charge. If you want to try and commercialise your game, we'll be here to help you with that.

I truly value the contribution you have all made to our company and I hope we can continue giving back to you in future.

All the best,

Cevat Yerli

CEO & President of Crytek

Now this for sure exciting news, the patch thats coming next week, and the lately announced DX11 support for sure shows that Crytek is on the right track after a for sure rough start they head with the initial crysis 2 release.

Develop... Communicate... Release...

Happy Easter to the community and crytek stuff! But don't shoot the white bunneh!

This are fantastic news. Gonna be a whole new life for this game. But one more thing is needed very much: ability to create dedicated servers on our PCs. Happy Easter everyone!

Thanks Crytek.
One Question to all:
Yesterday, and before the text on Crymod said:
"online by Friday, April 22nd" and now its the 29th... mmh. does that mean something? And when they release the SDK in August, they have to release the Crysis 2 Editor before .. mmh.. any clue about that?

The website update is purely related to the website. Unfortunately it couldn't completed within the previous announced time. Expectedly we're going to be making adjustments to Crymod to suit the new tools and this is stage one, i guess you could say.

Great news, but once again it comes down to one thing: waiting, waiting, waiting.

I hope the DX11 patch comes before the summer of 2011.

Hey its Easter give them some time to relax and enjoy to the awesome weather. I for myself was a lil bit confused why they even said "online by Friday, April 22nd" since its a holiday in germany. With an announcement like this they for sure make up the extra week of waiting over there.

Finally a developer really looking after their community.
We haven't been able to make our own maps since what Call of Duty 4 and Far Cry 2 (no Ubi made this, not Crytek).

I don't suppose there's any chance that we'll be able to make maps/mods for multiplayer...
