Honestly, we just need something to make the waiting a bit easier. Can you blame us? What's so wrong with that?
Nothing wrong with that at all. It's awesome that people are so eager to find out more about Crysis 2
Unfortunately, putting these videos together takes time and there's a lot more involved in the process than people may realise.
That said, you'll no doubt get more and more news on Crysis 2 as we get closer and closer to release every day
11 weeks to go! :O
I'm perfectly aware of the process. And it is precisely because of that, how I know that we could be getting a lot more community interaction from the company.
The problem I see here is that Crytek, or well, EA PR guys just lack this certain person who knows that, hey this is a good idea and that it should be done tomorrow. There is no such guy, unfortunately. So, we're stuck with the guys who are supposed to blow money on advertisemants and promotion. Leaving the people who are already hooked, out in the cold, of course.
Yes, we have community managers. But unfortunately, you guys just can't call shots like that. As far as I've been able to make out, Cevat doesn't really give a crap and that means that everyone who could call these sort of shots isn't interested in it/hasn't considered it and those who are interested in it and/or have considered it as a very good idea, just can't call the shots.
Which is kind of sad, really. This happens with pretty much every major release. Now, why is that? What's so desperately wrong with interacting with your player-base? In my opinion, good community management is just as or even more important than PR management. Yet, today, community management is done after the following sentence: "Uh, do we have to?" Which, as you can probably understand, svcks balls. And svcks for the community, too.
The community and the developers are always kept distant from each other. Why? We're not so bad. At least not all of us, anyway. There are a lot of nice people around every game's community. Not just nice people, but also smart people who could significantly contribute to the game from experience. I've seen this happen time and time again.
If I was a developer, I would probably enjoy talking about obstacles that were overcome during the development process and the development process in general. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be the only one and there are plenty of people who would love to be a part of that. That's what I'm saying.
