Crysis 3 expectations too high?

I wouldn't attack the game.

I would only say I hope this instalment is supported properly by the team who make it. Adam has a point though, do it properly, or just don't buy the next game, and leave it be.

Cut Crytek some slack. Crysis 2 is the most pc game out their. And the MP (even though not a big fan) had higher self live then Crysis 1 MP.

I think they more than made up for the mistakes they committed with the DX11 patch

.Crysis is what it is, a fast paced close quarters shooter, if you don't like it, go play BF3 or crapops, thanks.
End of rage
Except 'Crysis' isn't. What you're saying only applies to Crysis 2.

Truth is, while it's unlikely at best, the field is wide open with regards to the direction Crytek could take.

That being said, Crysis 2 is what it is, and I moved on to BF3; because I don't like CoD much, and Crysis 2 is the same thing in a nanosuit.

and Warface also being PC exclusive. Needs more exclusive.
Hang on now, Warface is a F2P shooter, of course it's PC exclusive. The whole point is Crytek want people to buy **** in-game and make their money that way, which has often proven to raise more money than subs or, in some cases, actually selling the game.

If it could be done on consoles in the same way, it would be.

@ MMAMickey

Sometimes i think some Pcgamers like to exeggerate a bit when it comes to claims.

You want all the quality games for PC only. This seems to be the only scenario to make everyone in the Pc community happy.

I would be happier if warface would be available for everyone...there is no need for exclusives anymore.

I do agree that consoles seem to hinder a swifter technical progress in games, but i managed to rethink my older point of view. Games are ment to be played... games are ment to be fun. The more people can play a game...the more attention it will get. You seem to treat the Crysis series as a guarantor for constant technical progress. But its not a research objective... its a game that is meant to be played.

No one will pay you guys if your 2000 € or $ Pc gets 40 FPS more while having 33 tesselated objects in your view.

so live and let live... if Crytek wants to show Pc gamers some extra love...this is actually a good thing for the community.

But the only thing you keep arguing about is that Crysis 2 was a letdown and now Crytek is the Judas of the Pcgamesindustry. Sorry but that is "kindergarten-style".

sometimes I think people who respond my posts make stuff up completely, as follows:

Never said that.

I would be happier if warface would be available for everyone...there is no need for exclusives anymore.
I don't care either way, I have no interest in the game. The fact is though, the game's F2P model wouldn't work on consoles, and that's the reason it's not on there.

As for the need for exclusives, of course there's a need. If smaller developers could only release multiplatform, they'd have to be svcked up into massive publishers like EA just to be able to afford the development. There's also the fact that the two audiences do have different interests in many ways, but I won't bother expanding on that just yet.

I do agree that consoles seem to hinder a swifter technical progress in games, but i managed to rethink my older point of view. Games are ment to be played... games are ment to be fun. Nope.. You seem to infer things without a sound basis upon which to do so..

I only look for quality in games, nothing else. This can include outstanding visual quality, but I much prefer outstanding gameplay. This is why I don't like Crysis 2.

No one will pay you guys if your 2000 € or $ Pc gets 40 FPS more while having 33 tesselated objects in your view.

Like I said, they're not showing PC gamers 'some love', it's a business decision.

But the only thing you keep arguing about is that Crysis 2 was a letdown and now Crytek is the Judas of the Pcgamesindustry. Sorry but that is "kindergarten-style".
Once again, you're making things up.
I argue a number of things; in conversations which discuss the way Crysis 3 should be, I argue that it should be closer to Crysis because Crysis 2 was a let down, but I have no vendetta against Crytek; I simply have low expectations of them, which I would wager will turn out to be correct. Never have I referred to Crytek as traitors to PC gaming or anything of the sort.

Try again.

Somehow i got a little bit disappointed of the game after C2, i am not sure if C3 will be any better. Guess there is only one way to find out...to wait for the game or more news of it.

On the contrary, my expectations are at their lowest after Crysis 2. I want to believe, though.

You forget the fact that you yourself also infer and INSINUATE what others say. I dislike it when people make one-sided arguements, and no, don't try to turn this around on me.
Also, the quality of game play is based on opinion, and ratings are based on general consensus.
Don't you ever try to avoid the fact that calling Crysis 2 a low quality game is based on your own opinion, no matter how many other people may believe it likewise.

I only ever infer that which is objectively there to be drawn. Also, I never outright tell someone what they have or have not said, unless it is explicitly there in words; it's a shame you don't try to follow the same approach, you might be a little more credible.

The low quality of gameplay in this case, is my opinion, and I don't remember ever saying otherwise. However, Crysis 2 was objectively a let down based on its sales, and the quick decline of its multiplayer.

how can we expect the same on pc like the first crysis, when the golden build will be made on the console? The level design can never be the same on console as it is on pc. They will make it bigger with load sections, but never the same as the pc version of part 1. And if they make the build on pc first, the consoles will suffer from this. So dont expect anything like part 1, but more the same like part 2 but this time with nice dx11 from the start and not 3 months later.

If they should decide to make the MP more like the MP from Far cry1 that will be a plus, but the console needs this COD type MP. Dont ask me why. Damn, the mp from FC1 kicked ass1 :)

@ Boeteloez

150 Fps`? Do you own a GTX 590 or what?

Try running it on your TV with post Full HD resolutions and Maldos texturepack (you can also adjust draw distance and LOD there). Otherwise: Games are ment to entertain and not for freaks who want count the FPS each time they play. (therefore god gave us benchmarks)

Your example with Mario and the ability to jump and Crysis and its wide areas is a bit excessive and unobjective.

The setting was destroyed New York and not the Jungle...so the playable areas were appropiate for the Setting.
If you didt like the setting... and crytek announced Crysis 2 to be more narrow.. why did you buy it in the first place?

Also the consoles graphical quality tends to be at low and medium settings for the Pc... and are not even close to anything "high" "ultra" or "DX11" related.

If you dont like Crysis 2 dont buy it...dont play it... but dont blame it for trying something different.

And the DX11 on start assumption was based on NVIDIAS adcampain and is not related to CRYTEK!

No, besides haveing a decent pc i got a GTX580 asus ROG edition.
I had the game on full settings dude, couldnt put anything higher and i did also played on my 40inch full hd tv. you suggestiong about counting fps all the time is wrong. You are cleary not a pc gamer and probable played on simple console all you live. Pushing one button to see how many frames you have for like one minutes, doesnt make it a freak show. My example with the mario game is a solid example. What do you thinks the reaction will be from the fan base if the buy the new mario game and you can not jump.....pretty solid dont you think

IF I HAD KNOWN THAT NY WOULD BE ONE CLOSED SITUATION I WOULD HAVE NEVER PRE-ORDER THE GAME.

Go watch the trailers on youtube made. The whole marketing campange for C2 was messed up. Any idea how many pc gamer complaint on youtube, via mail, sold their copy, burned their copy, broke their copy? Because it was a useless consoleport with totally nothing added. Get you facts straight before you make assumptions here!

Another wrong, please stop making so many wrong assumptions dude, damn. Crtyek also annoucend full dx11 with Crysis2. I am a fan dude, i checked out everything on that game. Pre-order a couple days af the first trailer and all. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

of course Adam got a point.....cuz it is all behind us! WE NEVER KNEW THAT THE GAME ON PC WOULD BE A PIECE OF RUBISH.

We got tricked, just like EA tricked alot of pc gamers with their mandatory origin crap when BF3 was released. They never ever mentioned this, just like it WAS NEVER mentioned that C2 would be a simpel consoleport in a very small environment, there will no DX11. IF THIS WAS MENTIONED, I and many other pc gamer would have never pre-order/purchased or played game...i know i wouldnt!

@Boeteloez

Again the leveldesign can be the same... its just a matter of scaling.. The Crysis 1 port for the consoles has the same levels in size.. they just scaled down the visual quality to fit. And the fact that the Cryengine 3 is highly scalable (as many modders and developers agree) there is no need for a consolebased focus... just a very high level to scale down upon.

"You are cleary not a pc gamer and probable played on simple console all you live."

I almost pissed my pants... im constantly investing vast amounts of money in my PC.
Since 1989 i had build or selected every piece of hardware myself.
Dont tell me anything about PCgaming kiddo. You would loose.
Just walk on by keeping your conspiracy theories and leave this forum behind.

why youre still active in this forum and defend your opinion about the Crysis-series and the industry itself so vehemently.

then dont comment with your stupid content! You should clearly know what I mean if you claim to have that kind experience. And the console do have large restrictions when it comes to the pc. It always has and more over at this point. Why do you think that only benchmarks appz can really kill a pc nowadays instead of before these consoles? Back then you could actually use a game for a benchmark - like crysis1 - and you still needed to upgrade you system. Every game that they use for a benchmark nowadays gives me around 100 fps. LOL.

Give me one reason not to dislike crytek/ea and the new strategy with Crysis 2 and perhaps with 3? Why sould not have this anti-tendency when C2 was a piece of crap on pc. I got a 360 and a ps3 at home 2 fyi, so it is not that i dislike the console, i seriously dislike the matter of treating the pc fan base. We get crap after crap, due to the lazyness of publisher and the casual useless consoles. Just look at the numbers of fps on consoles, it ridiculous! Almost every month a fps game is released. Heck, after 2 years C3 drops, while it tooks years to make part 2 which in the end was just a simple consolegame. Saying that Crytek is not a traitor towards pc gamers is so false dude, of course they are sellouts. Did you install crysis2 on a pc or not? You cant actually tell me that you liked it after playing 1 and 1,5? again....mario without the option to jump.

My argument was:

Games have a target audience- the gamers. Todays games are very expensive to make.. especially when you build a engine for it.
So you invest tons of money... putting your company and many jobs at risk everytime you create a new product.
So what would be the best to minimize this risk? Exactly... reaching wider audiences and almost guarantee a financial success.
Your point of view is very egoistic. You just buy a 1200 € PC and get angry when "games" that are made for thousands of people cant outperform that machine? Its like you buy a ferrari and getting angry about the speedlimits.

If you blame them for being "sellouts"... Crytek always made games to gain profit and increase their reputation so that they can be a AAA developer. Noone pays you for making small but technical great PC games. At least if youre not a indie developer who likes to be crowdfunded or still needs reputation.

"We get crap after crap" is also not true. I played worse games between 1990 and 2002. Not every PC game had the quality of DOOM, Duke Nukem 3d or Command and Conquer , Wing Commander etc.. There were several games for Pc (exclusive) that were crap. But seriously crap to the bone... you define crap as "not optimised" and build for PCs from the beginning.. i define crap as almost unplayable bad grfx, swoppy controls and awful repetetive sounds.
Actually i think todays generations are so spoilt with rather good games that they had to reset the bar for whats "bad" and whats good.

I actually like Crysis 2 and played it 4 - 5 times... i didnt like the vanilla version of it... but now with mods its a technical masterpiece in my eyes. Especially if the tesselation and bokeh effects are increased or modified by pros.
The gameplay is very linear yes... but im an oldschool fan anyway... hell i LOVE the Doom and Quake series or Unreal.
Crysis 2 fits perfectly in these rather linear shooters, givin some extra options of course. Crysis 1 was a whole other approach in gameplay... almost like a futuristic war simulation... For me Crysis 2 is what its supposed to be... a whole other kind of game ..set in the same universe as Crysis 1.

@ MMMickey

Cant see valid arguments anyway... the decisions Crytek made towards Pc gamers could be devalued by you as "business- decisions". So what do you want: A certificate that guarantees a 100% PC friendly game for Pc gamers by Pc gamers? There is nothing realistic or objective in that. You got yourself in circular arguments ... So if you dont like this game or are worried that it will not e able to fullfill your expectation of a "good game" .. wait for the release and look for user reviews.
All that "scaremongerism" going on is just childish... you always have multiple options given form multiple other companies that make games. You dont have to blame Crytek for your bitterness about Eas politics or the whole industry.

For once, just respond to what I actually say. No exaggeration, no strawmen, no fallacious accusations, just respond to what I ACTUALLY say in my responses.

My arguments aren't circular at all. If anything, they largely consist of telling people like you to try some reading comprehension. It must be embarrassing on your side..

Im sorry it seems i got some posts from other users and their statements mixed up with yours.

But here one line from one of your statements...: Crysis 2 was a letdown when it comes to sales.

What sales do you mean with that? 1. The overall sales and Cevats expectations that it must surpass CODs sales?
2. The PC sales compared to Crysis 1 and warhead? 3. The expected console sales?

I think it couldnt have been such a letdown for Crytek and EA... just because there will be another Crysis game.

All of the above. Crysis 2 sold similar figures over 3 platforms that Crysis sold on one platform. That is a failure by any account deeper than a face value anolysis of total sales.

I think it couldnt have been such a letdown for Crytek and EA... just because there will be another Crysis game.
Neither of us know why there is going to be another Crysis. It could be that EA considered it a success, or it could be because Crysis 3 will not require a whole lot of extra work, and so similar sales will create proportionately higher profit. The information just isn't available to us.

That is sooooo wrong... You can realize the same size of maps on consoles as on pc. The Crysis port proofed that. Man can the PC elite pls stop that falimg and hating against consoles? Its so annoying here.
The Crysis port also proved that developers need to make a game look worse and use visual 'tricks' to make it work. This may result in issues in a multiplayer game; for example a low draw distance would give snipers an advantage, as their scope would probably bypass the regular draw limit.

There is also the fact that many consumers will want to see a visual progression from Crysis 2, which when coupled with the fact it's basically Crytek's 'thing', means that there is pressure to maximise visuals, possibly at the expense of other things like map size.

took them six years, 2 generations of continues development of their CE - software and still the whole game had be toned down like hell. Dont gimma this crap that it finally runs on a 360. I am 6 further with my pc and i still get consoleport to play with and most of them are in dx9. Why do AMD and Nvidia even exsist nowadays. I dont hate console dude, read before you reply. I got both of them here at home and the PS is the best one to honest. For me it is annoying to buy crappy consoleport as it for you to read these comment from pc gamer, please move along dude
