Crysis 2 Fan Art (Done by me)

Post » Wed May 27, 2009 1:59 am

Wow, this took about 6 hours cumulatively to finish. I took a screenshot from one of the Crysis 2 trailers and decided to speedpaint it as it looked pretty damn awesome. Crysis 2 is one of my favourite games at the mo, and this was a one-off.

All done in Adobe Photoshop CS5

seriously badass man!

Do you think you could quickly describe some of the steps you used to create this? Like what do you mean by speedpaint? I just got started on a graphics design degree, am learning illustrator, and would love some tips. So far all I've really done is trace drawings with the pen tool and add color.

I used Photoshop CS5 for this, and a Wacom Bamboo tablet. Set the brush tool to pressure sensitivity and start off with basic blocks of black and white to get some shape in, and slowly build out the form, keeping it rough. You then go along and add detail and sharpen things up. At the very end, add a layer and set it to "colour" and brush some colour over your black and white image to get that result. It's all about starting rough and slowly adding detail as you go along. Don't try to get things perfect on your first go, because you'll fail hard :P

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated :)
