Crysis 1 fanboys vs. Crysis 2 fanboys! Where are both?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:57 pm

I'm having so many times I want to quit the browser when walking through this forum. There's always a Crysis 1 vs. Crysis 2 comparison, I even think the one I made was clearly neither usefull nor needed. People keep arguing and arguing and arguing and nothing turns out. The one site deifies Crysis 1, the other Crysis 2. I'm sick of this, I'm clearly the only one, who is a proud owner of both games and expansions.

Let's look back when we came here at Crysis 1's start:

Complains. Many. How the game isn't running, how lame the story is etc. Those things got away over time and so will these fights about Crysis 2. That's at least what I wish.

We came and always will come here for Crysis! That's what makes us a community, not how much the game attracts to other people. Both are good, both have their moments, both have their bugs and issues and still we play them, still we enjoy them and show it to others, recommend it to others and are already looking forward to Crysis 3, no matter on wich plattform it comes.

When looking at the sell counts, you can clearly see how Crysis 2 turns out to attract a wider community then Crysis 1. Crytek looked at the complains at Crysis 1 and said, "We need a change", and that's what they've done. Now... Everyone is still complaining. Neither Crytek, nor anyone else can make things right for a big community, and unless Crysis 3 turns out to be a copy-paste game from Crysis 1/2, it will never change. When it comes out, there are going to be another complainer section, I can already see that coming.

That's why I have to speak up, and tell you all: What you think, isn't automatically the better thought. It's different.

I like them but and can't wait for Crysis 3 but the main point that some people can't see is.... they are just games.

Welcome to the real world. There will always be someone complaining about something. There is nothing you can do to stop people from being fanboys or from being overly whiny. Just let it roll off your back, enjoy the games you want to enjoy, and move on with your life.

So you're complaining about complaining? .. Wait, was I just complaining about you complaining about complaining? Oh NNOOOOOOOOOOOOee!!

Seriously though, there is no going back for Crytek now. They've 'streamlined' the suit and taken away a part of C1 which was awesome. If C3 does come; I'd like to see all the features and visuals of C1 available on PC. I have no problem with consoles getting the game (I bought C2 on PS3), but there is no reason to make PC suffer for the lack of buttons.. Having just upgraded my rig there is no way I'd put C2 on it, at least not in its current form and price.

So why buy for 10 quid more, for a pre-known inferior non magic version?

A suit where you can only use one power at a time is better than one where you can use more than one at a time? I don't get your reasoning on this one.

Read that quote again.

I said they took away part of the game which was awesome: proper suit management.

Suit management in C2 is SO easy, and results in the entire game being SO easy. Even on Supersoldier mode.
If you don't need to choose between defence and offence, or cloak and speed, then something is seriously lacking in the gameplay department.

Sure, the N2 would kick the ass of the N1, but that doesn't automatically make it a better game.

Once again, the clue is in the part you quoted. I suggest you read it and try and figure that part out for yourself.

Then they should make the enemies more challenging, not make suit management unecessarily complicated. What you described is a very backwards thinking solution.

I hear what your saying OP. It's hard to spit out your love of the game, here, at the official forums.

It's not Crysis. It's Crysis 2. No game is perfect. I love Crysis, Wars, Warhead, and Crysis 2.

LOVE IT. *ducks and hides in the nano suit showroom*

Yes, the enemies should be more challenging; but that can't be done without somewhat nerfing the suit anyway. As it is the pingers can uncloak you, but that doesn't stop you sneaking behind them and filling their glowing red ass with C4.

I say keep the system as it is for consoles, but something marginally more complex could be done for PC. Such as allowing the normal sprint to make a return, and some significant increase in speed when using 'Power' Mode'.

The modes could probably also do with some rebalancing, as cloak is the most powerful mode by far. One suggestion would be to give power mode some kind of boost when using it without any other mode equipped, or allow armour to be some kind of compromise between C1 and C2; where maybe your energy could recharge while in armour mode(not while in a confrontation), but damage mitigation remained the same (35% IIRC). I'm not entirely sure about either suggestion, but I do feel that the other modes need some encouragement to be used more.

However, suit management aside, other features like fists should return for PC. It's not a PC player's fault that a console controller is limited in buttons, it shouldn't bring down the quality of their game.
