Crysis 2 PC fixes & info [Updated 16th April]

Post » Wed Sep 17, 2008 4:27 am

How can you deauthorize your computer from Crysis 2? The EA deauthorization tool does not work for me, it does not find Crysis 2. Is there a game specific Crysis 2 deauthorization tool?

Under Vista and Win7 you go to the Game Explorer and right click the Crysis 2 icon and you will see the option to de-authorize your machine.

In Steam you simply go to the Game Library and right click on Crysis 2 and it should be present to again de-authorize your machine.

For those trying to use SLI, use the EVGA SLI Enhancement:

http://www.evga.com/articles/00463/
It has worked great for me since CRYSIS 2 was first released. I have 2 GTX 580's and while playing the game they stay at about 99% load each. No flickering, screen tearing, nothing!!!

Possible work around for retail version bugs.
My game version is 1.1.0.0
Launcher version is 1.0.0.0
Just uninstall and REINSTALL the game and DO NOT install the Download Manager (I had the latest version installed already for Dead Space 2 and others).
I backed up my saved games but didn't need to. After the reinstall the game remembers my disk key login for online play, the Nano Catalyst Points are counted and saved even after closing the game and restarting. and all my game settings, options and configurations were already set! Haven't tried multi player yet but the campaign so far is working properly. I just hope the new update don't nullify this! Good Luck all

GOD!!!! Everybody STFU!!!!!!! all i hear is "direct x 11" WAAAAAAA, "console port" WAAAAAAAAA, "settings/motion blur" WAAAAAAAAA, "the game won't scratch my ass and blow me" WAAAAAAAA. First I'll say if it bothers you that much that a game is multi-platform or according to you a "port"(which is stupid cuz they came out at the same time) then I tell you what. Hold your breath for the next game that is exclusive to the PC and that is worth anything. You'll end up playing MMORPG/RPG and RTS games all your life, even though some of those are going multi as well. GET OVER IT. You should have waited to buy the game instead of pre-ordering it and expecting it to be the perfect game that, for some reason, you expect. That goes for the DX11 douches too. WTF? Sure I agree it should have DX11 from the start but it didn't, so tough. Its only been out for a couple of days. Wait a little, JESUS!!! I understand that these are forums and that they're here for everybody to express ideas and opinions, but stop beating a dead horse to oblivion. I am sure CRYTEK is working on something right now to address these issues. If they don't, THEN you can complain until your blue in the face. As far as the setting/motion blur goes, I also agree. I was a bit perplexed that you cannot customize detailed....details, though I dont see where the motion blur took away from game. I got over it and played, finished, and enjoyed the campaign. It looked beautiful and ran smoothly on my mediocre system. I'm happy in spite of the handful of issues. THESE are some of the reasons why PC gaming is on the decline. Companies don't want the endless **** and headaches from dealing with jerk off PC gamers that have a chip on their shoulders. and before you people start calling me noob or troll or console lover or whatever the hell stupid ass nicknames that you have in your arsenal of idiocracy, I am exclusively a pc gamer. I boycotted Microsoft's 360 cuz I got tired of having to pay them constant money to put up with their crap and Sony cuz it is heading the same direction. So, in ending, shut up and go play another game that takes you to your happy place whilst they fix these issues. Thank you.

i agree with this guy also quit assigning crap like a lack of prone and the change in direction of single player to a "console port". not having a prone does not not make sniping useless, also Cod has prone in all versions regardless of platform . i can understand if your unhappy with the direction they took the game but i would bet a months pay alot of these gameplay changes were based on "whats popular" not "console limitations". i am more concerned with the game working correctly then nitpicking every little thing and screaming CONSOLE PORT.

I thought the entire point of Steam was that you didn't have to deal with these extraneous pieces of ****.

Wow! After applying Catalyst 11.3 drivers (though Steam is still on 11.2), the flicker has gone away. And after whatever has happened since yesterday (new Crysis patch, I guess?), it actually appears to be using both GPUs on the card (it wasn't doing this, after applying 11.3 -- the flickering went away, but only used one GPU).

HOWEVER . . . what in the hell happened to the performance?

SINGLE PLAYER: I'm only getting around 20fps at 1920x1200 with EXTREME settings.
MULTIPLAYER: In order to get 30+fps, I have to run at 1440x900 with the lowest settings.

What the hell?! Flickering has gone away and it's now utilizing both GPUs, but I'm getting worse performance?

(I'm running on an i7 930 w/ 12gb RAM and a 2gb HD5970 via SSD installation.)

An option to turn off motion blur should be a priority for a patch. This gives a me a headache

SERVER BROWSER FILTERS SHOULD STICK SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO MESS WITH THEM THEM EVERY TIME YOU START THE GAME OR LEAVE A SERVER!

Please post a fix for the multi-player disconnecting every 5 minutes. Not all players have this problem, so it's likely you don't even need to write more code. Just tell us what we have to do to our routers/antivirus software to make the game play in multi and our ranks and kills be added up rather than lost.

Now the nano stuff the Alien's leave is disappearing.
I pick it up, and the amount I have decreases.
It didn't do this the first play through either.
I'm sick and tired of forking out good money for defective products.
This POS game is getting worse instead of better.

Hi, I'm having a problem with multiplayer.. when i start multiplayer, the game shuts and gives the error:

"deleting reference counted object twice"

I searched the internet for a solution, and i found one: i copied "Crysis2.exe" and "Crysis2Launcher.exe" from the install cd and pasted it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\bin32\

However, when i start the game again, i am able to access multiplayer, but when i click "join match" there are zero servers in the list.
In the options menu i saw the auto aim assistance.. that means the patch doesn't work anymore, cause the patch removed that option completely.
But in the Crysis 2 folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\patch) i see a file named: "patch1.pak"

So this is really strange, and i still can't play multiplayer with my nano edition..
Can someone help me? cause i really wanna play multiplayer now!
And Crytek, if you're reading this, do something about it please! :)

Thanks,
Remco
on your hard drive with the crysislauncher.exe or whatever, there should be a .ini fil with the same name, open it in notepad.
If the version says 1.0, change it to 1.1 and vice versa if you get 1.1 originally. save, launch.

Sorry to say that........but I don't see the anti-cheat update is working at all.
I just saw a guy with infinte energy/ammo and automatically head shot all people around him and he got 184 kills at the end of the game.

The reason the anti-cheat patch failed to work is because IT'S NOT OUT YET.

Congratulations Crytek! Crysis 2 is offer to an amazing start, with excellent reviews scores and great sales! It’s not quite perfect yet, though, and here is a compilation of issues on the PC version. =)

Tier I: URGENT FIXES:
This section is for issues that are currently affecting player’s ability to enjoy the game, and which cannot be mitigated by console commands or config editing.

Graphics/Sound:
-Multi-GPU support improvements.
-Main menu music begins playing a second overlapping audio track.
-Surround sound issues.
-Ground texture issues on Roosevelt Island map.

Singleplayer:
-Nano Catalyst does not save between sessions.
-Quicksave/Quickload feature. Although I can personally understand if the lack of this is intended for difficulty reasons, overwhelming consensus is that the game would benefit.
-After dying and reloading, sometimes player will become unable to use melee until the game is restarted. This appears to be fixed if the player finds a car or object that they can interact with.
-When there is a "camera-lock" or a cinematic moment, the inverted Y axis goes back to non-inverted for that time. For those who play with inverted it really takes you out of the action/moment in the game.
-Very annoying audio glitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QciBjdk3fCQ

Multiplayer:
-Weapons/unlocks/perks not saving. To avoid these issues, adopt the Black Ops system. Whenever a player modifies their classes, it saves the changes to the server.
-Servers need a maxping option, which apparently existed during the beta. People running around with 300+ pings really takes the fun out of it for others.
-Lingering issues from the limited edition bugs. For example, some players, myself included, are stuck without all of the stock classes unlocked despite being over rank 5 (because they had unlocked some before they got the day 1 advantage to work).
-Regional filter seems almost entirely nonfunctional.

Weapons/Perks:
-Lack of hit indication when using laser sight.
-Shotgun auto-reload bug when looking down the sights
-K-volt does not award kill assists. Issues with sprinting and reloading when using the K-volt (can anyone confirm?)
-Retriever perk does not level properly. (viewtopic.php?f=40&t=17326)

Controls/Interface:
-Ability to bind two or more keys to the same action. For example, I want C and Left Control to be crouch so that I can slide using C.
-Nanosuit Speech Volume Adjust (Or a fix specific to nano vision).
-Main menu music appears to begin playing a second overlapping audio track.

Tier II: QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS:
These issues might currently be possible to fix by tweaking the game files or they might just not be as important as the above issues. However, there is either a clear and strong consensus in favor of these changes, or they offer an obvious improvement to a specific segment of the community without bothering anyone else.

Graphics/Sound:
-Ideally, you’ll add an “Advanced Graphics Settings” menu, wherein you will give us access to each “sys_spec” variable with an option corresponding to 1-4.
-An anisotropic filtering option.
-An anti-aliasing option.
-If it is easier or in some way more functional, perhaps you could release an official config utility that operates from outside the game, like the unofficial ones currently available. Bioware has used this system for almost a decade now.
- Checkboxes to enable/disable Bloom/HDR, motion blur, and depth of field. The intense lighting and blur effects can cause headaches and nausea for some people. A slider for motion blur amount would be nice. Perhaps a slider to control the amount of these effects, if possible.
-The ability to set up a separate autoexec file for singleplayer and multiplayer would be great. Some of us are content with 30 FPS in singleplayer in exchange for maxed graphics, while wanting a far higher frameratein multiplayer. You've already done a great job with performance on the multiplayer end, but this would make life even better.

Singleplayer:
-Mouse left/right need to be reversed for quick-time events on PC version. This is particularly noticable during a section of the game where a player is asked to crawl and the button press does not properly matched up to the hand moving. This is a common mistake because on consoles left is alternate and right is primary fire, whereas that reverses for PC.
-Preview image for save games (like Cry1).

Multiplayer:
-Server Browser filters need to save between sessions.
-We need the ability to add friends by clicking their name while waiting for a game to start, and a way to invite friends to a game while we are in it.
-Similarly, we need a way to add servers to favorites from in the lobby and while playing.
-Ability for severs to enable a vote to kick option.
-Lingering issues from the limited edition bugs. For example, some players, myself included, are stuck without all of the stock classes unlocked despite being over rank 5 (because they had unlocked some before they got the day 1 advantage to work). I imagine this will be the case until I get the chance to prestige.
-In game chat is still a bit slow. Messages don't show up long enough for anyone to read them and at high resolutions the font seems too small. In non-ranked games, might as well be able to type something while dead.
-Server pings are fairly inaccurate. We need a way to filter out pings above X.

Weapons/Perks:
-Should still get hit indication even with laser sight equipped.
-Players continue to unlock weapon attachment unlocks even after there are no more available (perhaps due to pre-order bonus).
-Players who got the SCAR hologram through pre-ordering may not have unlocked the corresponding skill assessment.
-There seems to be a general consensus that weapons have too little spread and WAY too little recoil. Compare the recoil of the single-player Grendel-- that is a very fun and challenging gun. The high recoil gives it a sense of intensity and realism that is lacking from almost all of the guns in mutliplayer.
-This reflects itself most prominently in the dominance of the SCAR. A likely way to balance the SCAR would be to give it a headshot damage reduction-- allowing it to keep its niche as a jack-of-all-trades, high-accuracy, low-recoil gun, while allowing other guns, such as the Grendel, to outshine it for players more capable of getting headshots.

Controls/Interface:
-Toggle option for crouch and sprint.
-Under "Mouse", an option to remove acceleration and smoothing.
-Separate option for inverting axis under gamepad and mouse.
-Adjustable FOV (If possible, correct animation/clipping issues at higher FOVs.)
-Ability to disable radio pvssyr (the voice that yells at you when you die).
-Option to set a specific key for "Secondary Weapon", rather than just offering a toggle. (In a perfect world, you'll allow us to bind EVERY weapon/explosive/etc specifically, but Secondary Weapon is probably the most important one.)
-There seems to be an almost irrational hatred for your polite request that we occasionally "press enter".

Tier III: Hopes & Dreams
Stuff that we are crossing our fingers will come down the line, but that is not game-breaking in any way and which probably should not be prioritized.

Graphics/Engine/Sound:
-DX11, which has been confirmed to be a work in progress by a Crytek developer on twitter and by various Nvidia marketing materials. We can expect this in a few months-- everyone quit whining about it ;)
-A 64 bit executable if this proves to actually offer a performance improvement
-The ability to run our own dedicated servers. This one is very unlikely for a lot of reasons, but there has been significant clamor for it, so it bears mentioning.
-Lots of people are asking for a more destructible environment, but this just really isn't something that can be patched in. Maybe consider this in your DLC offerings or for the (I hope) destined Crysis 3.
-The female suit voice for multiplayer. Would make a cool unlock/DLC.

Gameplay/Multiplayer:
-A real health bar above the energy bar (colored green when healthy red when unhealthy). Crysis 1 style.
-There seems to be a general sense that either armor mode or the amount of player health needs some tweaking. This could be done in a lot of ways; some suggest that damage multipliers might be a bit too extreme and give the sense of ultra-fast deaths at certain times. Perhaps this complaint stems from oft-voiced potential SCAR issues: that the easiest to use gun with zero recoil gets easy headshots at any range. Others argue that the issue instead lies in the netcode; the netcode is currently not ideal, and so guns like the SCAR which fire fewer bullets are at an advantage.
-Weapons seem a bit too easy to use on the PC version, where we use a handy-dandy super-accurate mouse. Increasing recoil, particularly when we spam full-auto weapons, would increase the challenge on our platform of choice.

FIN... for now :)

Please continue to post community feedback, including disagreements and debate! That's how we let Crytek know whats important to us and help them craft this into the best possible PC Game!

hi! I would like to report a bug : it seems that whenever a new map is loaded in multiplayer , graphics settings are changed. It's mostly noticable with the clipping becoming ridiculous . If I quit the game then re-join the same server , problem is gone : things do not appear in front of my face anymore. A friend with a diferrent computer setup is having the same issue. hope you can find a fix!

What about fixing support for Crossfire or SLI first.... That will help so I can actually play it at nice settings and frame rates...

Have you bothered to play this game??? I have the oldest implementation of a HD5870 and the game runs like a bat out of hell everything maxed. Theres no need to go balls-deep on these forums just because you can't use your second card. :P

This is a classic example of the gamble you took on a multi card setup. I'm not for or against them, but you'll simply get games that love it and games that hate it. You paid for massive performance... but only some of the time.

Please stop posting. Gamble? What did he gamble? Crytek has a long history of setting GPU benchmarks and Crysis supported SLI and Xfire. He didn't gamble anything. It is reasonable to assume that Crytek would continue to support multi GPU setups because they have always done so before.

I've stopped playing this game entirely.

At first I stuck with both singleplayer (SP) and multiplayer (mp). Then, I found out multiplayer often didn't save my progress (levels, unlocks, skill assessments), that most matches are incredibly laggy (hit detection way off), and that hackers and pirates are having a blast on most servers.

So, I decided to revert to SP until some MP patches would be released. I then encountered bugs such as the nano catalyst resetting, A.I. acting downright mentally disabled, and various other minor glitches (enemies shooting at me through walls, melee turning off, etc). All of that made me give up on SP, too.

Now I just check this forum from time to time, but even that's becoming less frequent. I just wish I hadn't bought Crysis 2 on Steam so that I could go and return it.
