Do I detect some hostilities? Nah.. could'nt be, my eyes must be playing tricks on me, yeah.. that's it, the ole eyes are playing tricks again. Cause I could've swore my "Crysis 2" box said "directX 9.0c" on it, surely this is just a mis-print and it's really "directX 11" in disquise!
Also, me getting 105.0 fps to 150.0+ fps in "extreme" quality settings is another trick my eyes are playing on me, cause a "directX 11" game with a Geforce GTX 465 using "extreme" quality just isn't possible! I guess I need to go get some glasses, cause surely this directX 11 game (cough, cough) and my GTX 465 can't achieve 150+ fps with max'd out quality settings!
All sarcasm aside though.. I will be "patient" unlike some of my fellow gamers and wait (a little while) for a patch that does something to the "quality settings" of this game. Release a PATCH that atleast gets some Dx10 enhancements in this game, though Dx11 would be better, and give us some "custom image quality settings" please! I think I know why the "custom settings" were omitted, Crytek hoping people might not notice it was a directX 9 based game if they could not see what quality settings were being applied?!? Hmmm?
Sad thing is.. it's alrdy ruined for some people. The "first play through" of a new game is the one that makes the lasting impression (on single player), so even when (if) a patch gets released and people play it again, it just won't be as exciting and new feeling. After all this hype and waiting for "Crysis 2", I still do not understand how it got launched on a "directX 9.0c" gaming engine? Crysis Warhead was available in either "directX 9" 32 bit / x64 bit and "directX 10" 32 bit / x64 bit...
Yet somehow "Crysis 2" moves "backwards" and is available in "DirectX 9.0c" and only 32 bit. I'm slightly confused. You do "understand" peoples anger and disappoint, correct? If not.. it's a miracle you got a job as a developer. I for one was "looking forward to playing Crysis 2 directX 11 x64 bit" .. then wham, no directX 11, no directX 10, and no x64 bit mode.
You state how you accomplished something so great by releasing "3 platforms" @ the same time, but failed to mention how one of those platforms should be considered a "failure". It's obvious Crytek went out soley with the intentions of just raking in the dollars, and not making a "truely wonderful gaming experience" for their customers, atleast not on the "PC Platform" .. I see a wonderful game get ruined because of how it's released.. so many things left out feature wise. If you sit back and really think about it, you "moved backwards" by releasing it in dx9 and no x64 bit support, knowing Windows 7 is "directX 11" and more "x64 bit editions" are used than 32 bit editions.
Hope you do something, and do it "quickly" !!!
