Geesh, product is out nearly 2.5 weeks, two "patches" (a Tabu word in engineering),
and still so many complaints seem to go unrequited.
I'm a Senior software engineer with 30 years experience. I've tried every means available (web forms, e-mail, telephone) to contact both companies with consolidated bug reports (issue, severity, repeatability, status). No one seems to care, and the web forms ALL throw a fatal exception on submit (to be read: "ate my hard work").
Hmmmm... Well maybe if we start using BIG WORDS they will take notice?
So... let's try this...
1. Distributed process latency causes wrong player to die.
2. Undercoupled network processes cause dropped connections.
3. Distributed process deadlocks crash Windows network connectivity.
4. Open source in a secured application, violates information hiding and makes that application insecure.
5. Client interpolation of world metrics further decreases application security.
NO? It'll just get buried amongst 41235 other posts?
OK, I guess we'll need to settle for, "written by gamers, for gamers then."
and "trolled between gamers, by ______ whiners" (insert your own explicative here.)
Well, in 1.2.0.0, it seems that they did take care of a few zillion freeloaders
(is "zillion" a word... yet?).
I wonder what they will do for/to those of who pre-paid for everything the hype advertised.
Certainly, we didn't expect to PAY for the privilege of tearing our hair out?
Well, there are relatively easy solutions to re-numerate the breach (the now useless "Limited Edition" baubles), and if you can believe it, even reclaim the loyalist base!
-- unfortunately, it means COMMUNICATING between customer and supplier (*cough*).
There are only a dozen, or so, accessible servers with "<150 ping" that have players anymore, and they are largely "Instant Action", and "Solo" or "Pro" games. BTW my -real- ping to these locations is under 30mSec.
In North America? One today.
The server filters stick -wow!
If you don't get thrown from a server, the accomplishments seem to stick (didn't really pay much attention).
Everything else seems nominal, and the existing players are maturing (way too fast).
Next week they'll be dealing (or not) with complaints that there is not enough granularity in player achievement.
-I was just up against the nuke gun (JAW?),
level 27+ players (way too well equipped for me to last more than 20Sec),
and snap-to-target-after-target-after-target Aimbots.
Yep, there's a solution (are effective solutions) for that too.
I have solid directions for Crytek to pursue (as do many of us from many perspectives),
but unless a solid and organized communication system is in-place (to be read "up-to-date WEBSITE"),
fixes and updates will probably aggravate Crytek's loyal customers into a self-consuming mob.
(Oh, I forgot, that's what's happening right here, in this forum!)
So, has anyone taken notice that once fired upon, you cannot fire back?
Yes, I checked my mouse's responsiveness. It's fine. Holding the button down simply does nothing,
and there are not little furry rodents bare-backing it whist I sleep.
Well I forgot the rest of the bugs that I experienced today.
Anyway, BC2's stupid AI's still run in the wrong direction, block my line of fire, or leave me to fight by myself.
I can't speak for CoD. (are you taking notes?)
I waited to pre-order the Nanosuit, So I could start the learning curve with everyone else.
I wish I were learning to play a game, at the same time as others,
rather than reading the thousands of posts and learning to work around the bugs.
(Oh, that's what the moderators are supposed to do: read the posts, build bug lists, notify engineering, and keep the dissatisfied customer base up-to-date, daily, regarding progress? No? Sorry, I forgot. I guess that I was taught incorrectly.)
There now, "we" got another rant, and more information for the "devs".
Well, at least I can log in and try to play.
If you read the thousands of posts, you may find a solution that works, and meet with some success too.
No, I'm not going to play the SP version just to watch "Cell Operators" run in circles whilst I entice them to rifle-butt one another, and then watch them run into something and knock themselves out. There are plenty of excellent utube vids around already. The bugs will, hopefully, disappear.
Cevat must be throwing things by now.
I wonder how he'll handle next week?
("Grab your gun and let in the cat, they're bringing the rain")
Good luck.
Good Hunting.
freundliche Grussen.
don't flame me. I'm just venting like the rest of us
