Crysis 2 PC fixes & info [Updated 16th April]

Post » Thu Sep 18, 2008 4:57 pm

Can't agree more with the motion blur. I jut bought a newlaptop so I can play on the go. it plays ALL the other crysis just fun, on the highest graphic setting. but with crysis 2 there is only high, very high, and Extreme. WTF?can't change any type of graphics manually? What the hell happened there? The medium and low settings weren't good enough? damn... waste of money...

I am tired to lose all my xp on a serveur session because Crytek have no talent to program a game wich don't crash or disconnect all the time !!!
Today I lost everything 3 times less than an hour !!!
Thanks Crytek and EA to give us an "unbelievable" game experience with so many bug!

Guess I won't be pre-ordering BF3, though TBH EA probably DOES care about that game and will make it far more polished. Anytime they join up with another company they handicap the end product though.

Here's something I'd like to complain about. I agree with most of the other complaints on this thread, but I've never seen anything about this. Why can't I save my singleplayer game? I mean, it does save, but if Crytek promised not to make a total console port, then why is there only autosave? It's really annoying not to have the freedom to save when you want, and sometimes when I die I don't even bother playing on, because I have no idea of/ influence on where I'll restart.

I play on PC, of course.

MINOR SPOILERS!

So, the things you had in the first game, but ruined in the second:

User-friendly save games. (Lazy console port).

Graphic tweak options. (Lazy console port).

The protagonist being able to talk. (It doesn't make sense that Alcatraz never says a word).

The story. (You totally abandoned the old story, and simply didn't mention what happened at Ling Shan).

Your graphical edge. (Crysis had a healthy focus on graphics, where Crysis 2 just got lazy and stopped trying).

Weapon customization. (True, you had some customization in Crysis 2, but you couldn't attach sniper scopes to SMGs etc.).

Freedom of choice. (I don't know why, but I don't really think you have a choice concerning your playstyle. Every time I play, I end up doing exactly the same, which might have something to do with the areas being smaller, not being able to kill by throwing objects, (which you also somewhat removed from Crysis with an update), and the next issue).

No secondary missions. (Need I write more?).

Destructibility. (You can't really destroy anything in Crysis 2, unlike Crysis, where barrels were my preferred weapon, and crushing people with their own building was my kill style. Besides, what's the point of coming to New York, if I can't destroy everything?).

Military syle. (I don't know if this is good or bad, but in Crysis you were a soldier, in a squad, doing military objectives. In Crysis 2 you're just some random grunt, who has a dogtag around his neck, and apparently blindly follows orders from anybody who can connect to his radio).

Not being able to skip the developer animations at the beginning of the game. (WHY!? Why do they have to be there in the first place? Can't they just be in the corner of the main menu or something? It makes me so depressed, that sometimes, I don't even want to play the game by the time I've started it. And when that's done, you'll see another sign of LCP, (Lazy Console Port): The dreaded; "PRESS ENTER TO START"!).

(Tara Strickland. (She had much more potential that you used in Crysis 2. Simply being a CIA agent or whatever, just didn't really connect with the old story)).

These aren't all the problems Crysis 2 has, you already know those I'm sure. But these are the thing that you downgraded from the excellent prequel.

Of course, nobody will know before they buy the game, because this won't be on any reviews. Most sites that review games do it on XBOX 360, so they're completely blind to the many flaws on PC, (I know, consoles have some problems too). So, if a PC gamer finds a couple of reviews of Crysis 2, He'll probably think; "Oh. That's not too bad. And all these problems are probably only on the consoles. Crytek has always put so much effort into their PC games, so why should I worry? Besides, the review was pretty darn positive, and the game can't be that different on the PC. I'll go buy Crysis 2 right now, because I've done my research, and I trust Crytek. They've never let me down before." So though Crytek may have sold their soul, you've got to give them credit for this: They're good at tricking people into buying their games...

So Crytek. Stick to PC, stick to jungles, stick to mutants, just stick to something that works instead of using more time and energy hyping people, and making commercials, than you did making the actual game.

(Since you were dumb enough to ruin your reputation, I just thought I'd make this totally clear. Just in case you didn't understand. This was NOT a positive thing. I DON'T think Crysis 2 was a worthy sequel. I WON'T buy your next game, I'm not that stupid. Was that dumbed down enough for you Crytek? I sure hope so, cause I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who was disappointed about Crysis 2).

One last thing. It's OK to be mad at Cevat Yerli. If he doesn't like it, he shouldn't have written "A Cevat Yerli Game" in the introduction to the suit. Responsibility!

All the best, (no wait, that's not it):

I don't think a lot of people will. But why does that matter when console sales are utterly destroying PC sales?

Nevermind man £30 down the drain.

OK I just figured out how to make your unlocks stick!

Follow these steps:

1) NEVER refresh the server list using the cancel/refresh buttons. Always go back to the main menu and click join game to refresh the server list that way. Similarly for favorites list.
2) When you are in the game lobby, before the next round starts, CUSTOMISE ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT HERE. Do not, I repeat DO NOT exit once you have customised...let the game start, and you MUST FINISH the new round. Once this is done, press continue at the experience summaries after the match, thus returning to the lobby.
3) Now your unlocks are finally actually unlocked!
4) quit the game, come back, and still unlocked!
5) remember NEVER PRESS CANCEL/REFRESH when on the server list page!

That worked for me aswell! i just have to make sure that i change back to SP before quitting the game :-)

Since it is very hard to find answers I will post some:

If you are having trouble with stats not saving in multiplayer here is what you do:
NEVER USE THE MULTIPLAYER Customize Equipment. Always go into an empty Ranked Server and do all your customizing there. Then leave session. You will see updating profile, meaning it is saving it.
Also, after a couple of sessions of gaming (2 or 3 complete games) leave the server. If you get disconnected all the stats you received will be ERASED. It is better to quit and take the loss then keep playing and lose everything you have done for the past hour or two.

If you are having trouble seeing any servers on the server list or getting disconnected as soon as you join a server:

Go to where you installed Crysis 2 and launch the CrysisLauncher.exe. This will update the game to 1.2. You cannot play with the older version.

If you have the 1.2 installed and are still not seeing any servers:
If you have a router you will have to do a lot of stuff. First, Make the IP of your computer Static. then you put that IP Address into the DMZ. You will also have to do Forwarding of ports for the ones that are listed in the manual. This is very time consuming but this was the only way I was able to see any servers. I also get disconnected once every 2 hours or so. If you do not know how to do this look it up online.

Personally, I think this game is awesome. It is such a shame that it is so bugged and you have to do things a certain way for it to even work. Hopefully within the next month all this workaround crap will not be necessary. It would also be helpful if they had a page where they would explain what I just did for people who are having trouble and are not in the IT world.

This is probably due to my PC, but when i go on to multiplayer. the sound comes out of my PC speakers. despite my headphones being plugged in correctly...and this problem only occurs on crysis...Anyone else have this problem? Any solution will be very helpful, thanks :)

You see perfect sense.
The funny thing is how CryTek staff only reply to simple questions that don't ask about their obvious "failures", but then don't reply to 99% of everyone's 'anger'.

Crytek I hope you realize that People ain't going to buy any other games you put out after you've disgraced the CRYSIS Title. Even you know yourself that you guys could have done better. We really expected DX11 and we were all promised DX11 from EA as well. But when we go to play the games. were only given 3 options to change the graphics...wtf? I dont see how this is funny because If you look at Farcry... That has its own Custom Graphics settings with no limits. Then Crysis and Crysis Warhead Those both to had a huge range of graphics settings to change around but was still a setback from Farcry. I just hope you guys havnt taken the same step back you have done with Crysis graphics options compared to Farcry's Graphics options as this would be the biggest betrail you guys have done. I really hope that you guys release DX11 in a later Patch and also More Graphics options and Better ingame graphics, As we all know you guys could have done alot better than this. Crysis 1 still lags at max, were as crysis 2 doesnt even lag at max settings. Please also include PhysX if you can like Batman Arkham Asylum did. Even if you guys just tell us one thing about whats going to happen to crysis 2 in the future we would be happy. My Final Question is this: Will you release the SandBox Editor for Crysis 2 anytime soon?

Thank you for that good list. Although I don't like all the hate going on here, and I also find some of your language irritating, I agree to the points directly relating to the game.
