Crysis 2 PC fixes & info [Updated 16th April]

Not to be rude by any standards but I feel people are getting a little out of hand with the whole Dx11 issue. It is already quite evident that there are much larger problems concerning accounts and already redeemed codes, these should take priority. Dx11 is nothing but mere eye-candy for us so it should be way down the list for Cryteks priorities however I do believe it will arrive in a patch eventually, the game still looks brilliant maxed out with dx9.

This guy speaks the truth. I can't even sign in with my "gamesas" account. So I am Totally unable to get into any multiplayer games. I would much rarther be able to play the multiplayer aspect of the game over Just having the single player look a bit more pretty.

**UPDATE - POSSIBLE FIX FOR SOME USERS**
(Copy/Pasted my post from another thread to include here)

I was just able to correct the issue that I have been having with the gamesas.com page, and my in-game account. I will describe what I just did, but please realize, that I cannot guarantee that you will have the same level of success that I did. I've only been able to test this on myself... so... take that with a grain of salt.

Here is who this process might help solve the problem for. If you are a user that had a Crysis 1 login (associated with Gamespy) and that login just happens to be the same nickname that you registered on gamesas.com, than what has likely happened is that the game will read that old information from Crysis 1 as you game login, and the website will use your new registration for the website. I was able to figure this out when I updated my gamespy.com account with a new password. Crysis 2 did NOT update to use this new password, but Crysis 1 did.

So... my fix required one piece of important information. What e-mail address was associated with this old account. If you know for sure what that is, than this might work for you.

I was fed up with not being able to use the same login info for the game and the website, and noted that a new "delete account" button was added to the account settings menu on the website. So I figured that I knew what the problem was... I was able to register two identical nickname on one database, and the game was using one, and the website using another. So ... I deleted the website account.

Once I did that, I attempted to login to the website again with the nickname I was using in the game (as it was identical to the one on the website), and then the old e-mail address. Neither worked. What I did then was initiated a password reset for the old e-mail address. It said that it was successful in sending me the reset information (which I had tried before, but did not work). So I logged into the old e-mail address, and was surprised to find an e-mail there.

I clicked the link in the e-mail and updated the account with a new password on the website. It saved the changes and logged me in for the first time with the account that I was using in the game. It first showed me my username as being the e-mail address, but when I clicked the edit profile button , it updated to show my nickname. Even more strange... is that also decided to associate my old forum posts and sent messages that I had made with the website account.

Just to make sure, I started up Crysis 2 and then tried to login to the game. For the first time I had to use the password I just updated the account with on the website. So... for me this problem seems to have been fixed.

Anyway... this is everything I did. I cannot confirm that it will work for you, but if it sounds like you are in the same situation as I was, and feel like taking the chance than there is something else for you to try. Please don't get mad at me if it doesn't work for you... I'm just telling you what I did.

Edit: Note... that I was previously able to associate all of my keys with the account that I was using to login to the game with. If that is not the case for you, than this might not be the best course of action.

Edit #2: Since I did this, I logged out of the website, and then had difficulty logging back in using my username or e-mail address using the drop-down menu at the top of the page. I tried to generate another password reset, but it didn't work. I clicked the link in the first password reset e-mail it sent me, and I was redirected to another page that was dedicated to password reset. When I typed in my e-mail address again, the page reloaded to another one that was dedicated to logging in (I still did not receive another password reset). I typed in my login information on this screen, and was able to log back in to the website. Obviously there are still some issues... but at least it is one step closer I suppose.

URL for the screen to log back in is http://www.gamesas.com/user . I have had to use my e-mail as opposed to my nickname to log back in.

Edit #3: To add even more to the strangeness... the reset password function actually *was* working... but it was sending the messages to the e-mail address that was associated with the website account I deleted. Weird.

Occasionally, it won't let me melee at all. I'll mash V and it doesn't work. I'll even remap it and still no luck.

I've also had occasions where I'll fire at a guy but since i'm behind cover, instead of the bullet (which should be flying for the npc) hitting my target, it hits the cover.

Three words. Magically depleting nanocatalyst.

Yeah. I got this. I had 8000 one mission, 0 the next. And I had to collect a certain amount again before the counter left 0. Really set me back!

I had that happen to me, I had just bought the 10000 Stealth upgrade and when I died and tried to buy it again, it said I had 0. About quit the game.

I've had this problem also... In addition, whenever I try to save and then reenter the game all of my nano collected points (or however you'd like to categorize them) have been erased!!! However, the Crysis line is great and I've purchased Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis Wars and this one. Can't wait for you guys to roll out the fixes, Crysis has been my main motivation for updating my hardware on my rig!!!

Crysis 2 has a widespread bug wich is, if you die meele gets disabled. Fixing it requires the restart of the game and it's very annoying. But restarting the game radically decreases your nano catalysts wich can even go negative. Lots of people have this bug so crytek should pay some attention to it.

Game in nice mostly, well mostly if you are good at ignoring bugs. Graphics are worse than the first game but it has lower reqs wich is good.

I'm from Russia, sorry for my english ... The game has a couple of points that besyat!
1) Cheat BOT may uncheck them WH? In stealth, I do not feel like a predator. There are situations when I stealth me on the trail went 5 Bot and drove me into a corner. Sometimes shoot through walls at me, it's very annoying
2) AIM BOT no comments
3) Improved AI
4) Terrible picture at loading, just disgusting ... The entire game is very stylish and beautiful, and this loading spoils the whole atmosphere

I am actually pleased to see these changes, i played some multiplayer for the first time last night. I cant tell if the other players are cheating, but every time i seem to drop cloak i get headshot multiple times.

Ill try again tonight I think, I hope something can be done to discourage cheating, if that is indeed what is going on.

When can we expect a patch that fixes the problem of multiplayer and activation key? I have in the topic recently, developers have announced the release date?
And by the way they fix the problem with the nano catalysts?

this is a terrible start to the release of crysis 2, so many errors for the pc version

This is unacceptable, your fan base is mostly pc gamers and yet you have failed to ensure that these issues have been rooted out, im very dissapointed in Crytek

-Dragon's Crysis 2 Impressions, Glitches, and More-

I was one of the people who pre-ordered this game, had high hopes as I was a fan of Crysis 1. Although I enjoyed the original Crysis, it had it's flaws; I however would have suspected that these issues would have been ironed out in the sequel. Am I wrong for making such an assumption? Anyways, I don't know really where to begin with this one, ever since I bought the game I have been met with countless frustration and inconveniences. At this point, I'm starting to think that maybe it would be easier to talk about what this game did right as unfortunately this list is a lot more straightforward than the game's shortcomings..

I suppose Crytek is to be partly commended as I did thoroughly enjoy the Single Player experience, and although it is indeed much more linear than Crysis 1 I felt the presentation and gun mechanics were quite improved (for example, no "Invincible Korean" glitch when sniping with assault rifle from far range). What everyone has said here about some of the bugs are true, so I don't feel it's as necessary to elaborate so much on it. Personally, I'm not sure if I've ever been faced with the Magic 'Catalyst Glitch as I never really used it in-game. At most I only bought a few of the suit upgrades and never bothered to check them much afterwards, and if my 'Catalyst was decreasing, I had not noticed it as there were so many aliens dying by my hand that I didn't bother keeping track of it. At times the AI would just stand there as I pumped them full of bullets, but it didn't happen often enough for it to be a major concern. After completing the Single Player Campaign, what respect I had for this game diminished as soon as I clicked on "Multiplayer"...

I really don't know where to begin. I'm not joking, I seriously cannot believe the multiplayer component of this game is so broken. To be brutally honest, it's borderline unplayable. In all of my years as a dedicated PC gamer, I have never been so absolutely overwhelmed by how butchered the online experience is. As with many other people here, I was unable to log onto my account to access multiplayer. At first I had problems signing on, but after wasting enough time screwing with the game and my account settings, I was finally able to log in and access the server browser. Here lies the next few sets of frustrations: I could not join any servers. The game kept claiming my CD Key was in use, and I had difficulty redeeming my Preorder bonus as well. When I was actually able to get that problem corrected, I still could not join a single damned server! It's completely ridiculous not being able to connect to 95% of the servers out there, and the few I can connect to are mostly just lobbies with anxious players waiting patiently for the server to start. I used to be one of those people until after enough failures, I realized the servers weren't ever going to start... Sometimes it suddenly comes up with a timer saying "Match begins in 260 seconds" and people suddenly get exited. In their minds they're thinking "I've been trying to get into a game for 40 minutes, and it's finally going to begin!" but I know better. Do you think I enjoy being the bearer of bad news, where just about every server I join, I have to go into the chatroom and tell the people that no, the server will not start, and if a timer actually shows up, the damned thing freezes at 1 second and the just sits there, ticking, almost like it's taunting us.

I'm truly sorry if this is turning more into an unorganized rant / rage rather than a detailed anolysis of the problems the game faces, but it's difficult to stay focussed on every one problem when there are so many of them ;-;. To sum up the above paragraph, most servers don't work, ranked or unranked. You'll have a better chance at getting an unranked game up, but it's still rare to find a server that actually works. Also, it's worth mentioning that the servers don't seem to keep track of your weapon-specific kills, making it impossible to unlock new weapon attachments. The only way to do that is to join a ranked server, and even if you manage to get into one, it still might not save your stats. Speaking of ranks and stats, another thing that really aggravates me is the fact that the game punishes you for leaving a server! It's complete garbage, because I remember one round I was actually doing really well, and the lag was minimal was well. Left and right, I was racking up kills with my silenced feline and I gained 2 promotions in a matter of minutes. I was foolish to think that I may actually get enjoyment out of this game, as the server crashed on me right after... For some reason, they thought they'd punish players for leaving a server, all weapons and promotions you earned during that particular game are taken from you. This applies as to whether you purposely leave, or if if something out of your control happens, such as the damn server crashing which happens far too often. Perhaps Crytek should have put more effort into making the online mode playable, rather than focusing on how to unjustly punish the players for unrelated server issues..

Server issues temporarily aside, this game contains many small glitches that are equally as frustrating. One of my personal favorites is how filters don't save your input. Why they neglected to include this is beyond me; after all, if I open up the Original Crysis it still has all my filter settings applied, how did they break something that worked well in the first game? I'm probably not being clear as to why this is so annoying, so let me be a little more precise. You want to level up, in which case you need a ranked server. You apply filters to not show full servers (Why the hell would I want to see fulls servers anyways? Some of these filters don't even make sense), and to display ranked matches only. You try to join a ranked match, it fails to connect to the host. After many more tried, you join a server that suffers from that awful "$60 Chatroom" glitch where the server doesn't start. You become frustrated and leave that server and go back to the server list, you notice all of your filters reset, have fun applying them again and failing to join more servers... if you haven't noticed, you simply can't win.

Now, if you actually manage to get inside a server and play with people, the frustrations will not end. My team is losing, and I feel I should relay some information via the in-game chat option. I cloak and go into a corner as I press the "Y" key and start typing out my message. About half-way through my text, I'm killed by some random guy with a SCAR. Oh well, it happens right? The problem isn't me dying, but rather the mind-castrating fact that the game closes your chat menu when you die. Why would they do that?! On top of that, sometimes the gameplay just pisses me off more than anything. You would expect to be rewarded with a fair, friendly game once you actually manage to find a server that works, but that too is a pipe dream. Out of all the servers that don't crash on me, most of the time the game still wasn't at all enjoyable. Far too many times I will unload at least half a magazine into an enemy player, and they fail to die. Before posting s*** like "lol its cuz u suk", know that I've read through this topic and I know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, which makes me more at ease. What's even worse is when a I watch the kill cam, either my shots don't seem to register when they hit the target, or I'm missing completely (yet on my screen they were all direct hits, the cross-heir even flashed to represent that). It gets worse, even though I'm ALWAYS in armor mode when I engage an enemy (And I will have 90+ shields when I do), they'll kill me with no more than 3 or 4 body shots... I'm in ARMOR MODE, why am I dying so easily? When other people are in it, I'll have to waste tons of ammo to take them down, but for me it's almost instantaneous. Note that I have a good Internet connection here, and often have very low pings on most servers I join, so I don't know if I just have bad luck, or if the game has latency or hitbox issues. Ugh, sometimes I point blank a guy with the FELINE when he's cloaked, and melee him twice and they still don't die, yet they seem to finish me off with, again, 3 shots or a random headshot. Those spontaneous headshots can really be a pain sometimes.

To conclude this wall of text, the game is broken. Why didn't they just delay the game instead of giving us a defective product? Although I enjoyed the Single Player Campaign, there is no excuse for the multiplayer to be so terrible. As far as I know, there's no ETA as to when these problems are going to be fixed, and to be honest I really don't want to wait for an undisclosed amount of time just to be able to play the damn game I spent $60 on.. I purchased it through Steam, so I'm unaware if I'm able to get a refund, but seeing as how bad things are now, I doubt it. At this point I'm not sure who to blame, whether it be Crytek, EA, or the Gamespy servers; I can't point to where it all went wrong. I'm severely disappointed in this game and the poor decisions made by the developers, and would urge would-be customers not to purchase, or at least not until it's confirmed that most of this crap was fixed. To sum it all up, This is completely unacceptable.

Hello guys
Well, I've played the game for several hours now, and there are a lot of problems, like:
-Nano Catalyst goes to zero after quitting the game, I lost about 10'000 points:-(
-Mouse is laggy even with a high framerate
-Melee doesn't work after dying
-64bit support?
-Only directx 9?

So please Crytek, fix these things soon...
