Crysis 2 -> PC freeze

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:21 pm

So I have a huge problem since release:
I started with the singleplayer campaign and the game ran smoothly, no stuttering or anything, but after half an hour or so, the screen freezed and I got this sound loops, my screen turned black and after a few seconds at the edge of the screen "DVI-D" appeared, as if I turn on my monitor again. I could continue playing, but a few minutes later my entire PC freezed again and I got this soundloops. But this time nothing I had to reset my PC.
This happened in multiplayer, too..

The freezes are still not fixed after 3 Patches. I have reinstalled the game several times, updated DX, installed latest graphics card driver, all drivers are up to date. GPU temperature is ok. The game is unplayable, can't play longer than 10-15 minutes at a time. I've really no idea what it is, had already searched several forums + Googled ...
Can't be corrupted hardware PC is brandnew.

My System:
Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (64-bit)
    Memory (RAM): 8191 MB
CPU Info: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor
    CPU Speed: 3208,8 MHz
Sound Card: Lautsprecher (Creative SB X-Fi)
Display Adapters: AMD Radeon HD 6950
    Screen Resolution: 1920 X 1080 - 32 bit
Network Adapters: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
    BIOS Info: AT/AT COMPATIBLE | 08/16/32 | DELL
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A87TD EVO

Anyone help or ideas?

I also have the same problem. Running gtx 570 tri-sli. Game was ok yesterday morning. then installed my liquid cpu loop. Now only in Crysis 2 that this occurs. Every other game runs great at maxed out graphics, but Crysis 2 it freezes with black screen and sound loop. Have to restart. When log into windows nothing in log file aout crash. I have reinstalled the game with no luck. I just uninstalled gpu driver and installed it again and will see what happens when I get home.

Yes, my other games run fine, too. Still no idea what I can do to solve it. Good to know that I'm not the only one with this problem.. :)

since win 7 no probs seen. just an idea i have: wasnt hd 6950 a dual gpu? if yes then i see one togetherness of you all. multi-gpu problem. i thought it should solved on patch 1.3?

HD 6950 is Single-GPU, the 6990 is Dual.
