nice gameplay, What is your GPU?

I need to upgrade big time to use crysis 2 at max settings without any FPS drop.

currently the only thing that can run Crysis 2 without a sweat is either 570's SLI, or 580's, anything else is currently gasping for more air, yes a 580 can run it smooth, but not flawless, my system is a 460sli, with 1850 RAM and 4.7 GPU, it helps let me say that, with the missing Vram, OC memory speed also does the job, right now 460's can go head to head with a 580.......except when Vram is needed, which is about now...........but truly I can say the most stable I can run it is at 45FPS consistently

Thanks Gizmo :)

My GPU is a GTX 480 Gigabyte Branded one :) cost be about 480, but i think there now only about 400

i would recommend skipping the 400 series though, and getting a 580 instead, as for the price, its very good speed, and ALOT cooler than mine, although i have custom fan setup, and it never goes beyond 80 degrees so far on Crysis 2

Thanks!

How does a 590 do? I might do 590 SLI after I build a home-made refrigerator case... And keep the ambient temp at 10C. :P
I can't wait!!!

Wow the video made me want to play single player again haha. I've maxed out the settings on a 460GTX at 1920x1080, while sustaining 30-40FPS...I dunno why people are saying you need at least a 560Ti to run it. :/
Nice videos never-the-less :)

Haha! Wow awesome! :P

A 590 SLI setup will be the fastest dual gpu/quad gpu setup you can have as of this moment! if you can, i say why not! go for it!

should be fast as heck!

I think any quad GPU setup is a waste of money, WAY to many unfixable scaling issues. And personaly i would say STAY AWAY from the 590. It has some real issues still that Nvidia is claiming does not exist. Oh and lets not forget, you wont be able to OC it enough to matter.

I just did a google, looks like it can overheat and EXPLODE! LOL OMG, i guess ive been doing good by following the rule not to buy anything brand new as ssoon as it comes out!

source: “While running 3DMark11 an hour ago I noticed [the GTX 590] got really quiet,” says Greg. “I leapt for the PSU cable – but no. Crack! Poof! Stinking smoke!"

i never knew they were bad... :S

@ the guy who wants to build a system, get 2 580's instead, thats faster than a 590 anyway, more stable too and higher oc !

I doubt that, judging from what other people have experienced from the same card.

They fixed a lot of the GPU exploding on the 590 with the latest drivers. But at the cost of overclocking. They removed any usefull overclock by dropping any overvolting abilities. Its just that the 590s VRMs are REALLY out dated. If you should go to any dual GPU card you would want to get a 6990. While they are a LITTLE slower (not for long) they dont suffer from ANY of the issues the 590 does. and they are cheaper.

lol I ( personally ) can't really afford the price tags on Nvidia GPU's, I've always preferred the ATI cards for some reason.

ATM, I can run crysis 2 with XFX Radeon HD 5770 With Tessellation enabled but I've had to cut back on my resolution from 1920x1080 down to 1280x720 * sigh *

I know an upgrade is in order so that I can run BF3 maxed out, and to be able to run Crysis 2 with all the eyecandy without dropping below 60FPS, That's my ideal card, Any idea's what card I should get from the ATI Series?

I was thinking of a 6870 2GB.

I was dissapointed that the 590 had the issues it did. I LOVE NVIDIA. PhysX is awesome and i use Cuda programs. Maybe next generation. I have only owned 3 ATI/AMD cards, 5770, 5870, & 6990. other than that i have had 7600gt, 8800gt, EVGA 8800 Black pearl, 9600gt, 9800gt, 9800gx2, gtx260, gtx280, gtx285, and gtx480. i am a huge nvidia fan. But AMD took the cake with dual gpu generaltion (again).

You shouldnt base perf on one card amongst everyone, a game is ALWAYS going to run better or worse a little on every system, its the nature of hardware and pc's in general

for egsample, SLI and his 580, it sounds like i can run the game better than him with fps, and i have a 480,

might be the way its optimised or something, plus i think SLI's CPU is quadcore i5 and mine is 8core (w/ hyperthreading = quad and 8)

i went from i think the evga280 to the EVGA 285 when they were released. i did it because of the EVGA upgrade thing they offer :) was only a few bucks more lol.

Me being me, I decided to play with some settings in Catalyst Control Center and came up with some promising results.

Catalyst A.I. was originally set to "Performance" and "Enable Surface Format Optimization" unticked, I had to scale my rez down from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 because the FPS hit was significant, Pre-patch I hit 55FPS and upwards at 1920x1080p, After patch I slipped down into the early 20's and even down to 15FPS at some points.

After my changes, Catalyst A.I. is now set to "High Quality" and "Enable Surface Format Optimization" ticked.

Settings In Game are set to:
Game Effects = High
Object = Ultra
Particles = High
Post Processing = High
Shading = High
Shadows = High
Water = Ultra
Motion Blur Amount = Low

Screenshot.

And haven't got below 30FPS

Has anyone tried the DX11 bench on Crysis 2? and if so, How do I use it? It won't launch for me =\
