Watch this clip and tell me your jaw does not drop when you see the choices these swindlers make. The best rotten egg is saved for last. What were these guys thinking??? Something smells fishy about these awards.

Apparently yarn is the wave of the future. Listen, maybe those guys are on another level of game theory but i just don't see the innovation here, seems like its a back peddle to me

Lol, well, to tell you the truth, I am still pretty underwhelmed by Crysis 2. It just doesn't look anything like Crysis or Warhead. It is obviously totally aimed at consoles, hence why we still are not seeing any PC Video. And don't say that the trailer is PC video, its not in game. And that is what we PC players want to see. Crysis 2 in Enthusiast mode at 1900x1200. Then we can compare it to Crysis and Wars.

So far, Crytek seems to have done nothing but shoot themselves in the foot, 1) by destroying the forums! and 2) by not showing any PC video. And I would say 3) by putting the whole game into the city and 4) delivering empty promises and not telling us anything.

Really? I am going to publish a post later today that I have been formulating with a friend who works at Zynga about the PC gaming market. It should give you something to think about. It is not derogatory so don't worry, its more of a historical and environmental perspective. I think all PC gamers will agree.

I was happy that Star Wars got best MMO, although I think FF XIV would have worked to. But Star Wars MMO definitely had the best trailer. Must see if you already have not. Make sure to witch it to HD.

I Think Crytek is waiting to launch the PC video to let everyone crying while seen how beautiful the graphics are. I liked the Idea to kill Aliens in NY. The only thing I Agree with you is that the Forum looks unfinished, but I hope they will fix that

I think Crytek does not want to show us PC video, because they know CE3 is not as good as CE2, which is why there will be a performance boost. CE2 is most likely still the best engine and still future proof. Thats why it takes so MUCH power, bringing even 480's and 5970's to their knees. There is not a card yet that can handle CE2 well.

Crysis did not sell well because of this, and this is why I suspect CE3 has been somewhat gutted, and had a lot of higher end stuff replaced with lower end. This is why they don't want us to see Crysis 2 at Enthusiast and 1900x1200. Because then we would be easily able to compare to Crysis and Wars, and would see all the differences. That would not be good for their hype and sales.

@Kuro

I think a lot of us here agree with you in some ways, it is not overwhelming on the surface, but a lot of us are modders and know that the tools that crytek gives hobby modders are more then overwhelming. We see the game as a whole. Crytek has pioneered the concept of giving your gamers the tools and letting them run with it. So things like gameplay or storyline are irrelevant because we understand that all can all be modified by the individual. Just give us great graphics and a lot of options to customize and we will be happy little gamers.

@Enfadel - "Just give us great graphics and a lot of options to customize and we will be happy little gamers."

CE2 already does this. If Crytek really wants to sell this new engine, then it has to be as good as CE2, which had amazing lighting, plus more. So far I'm not seeing it. But of course, all we have so far is a trailer that is rumored to be done on CE3, which looks OK at best. Crytek needs to show the PC video and screens.

Kruo6, CryEngine 3 is CryEngine 2, only updated with optimizations. We haven't got much to really look at, but I believe with fall coming soon, all will come.

I'm not so fussed if they didn't get mentioned, this is their opinion guys, not ours, compared to those sites, they possibly have other things they like at the moment.

Console had nothing to do with it being last.

@Sahdev

I love your post, your always very anolytical, its great. But honestly, you were not surprised that Grand Turismo got best graphics? Its a Racing game.... How much easier does it get then animating cars. Kills me.

The readers choice polls looked a lot different. I think these guys get this mindset like they dont want to be band wagoners so they try to pick more unsung titles to show how refined their taste are.

I know what you're saying. To be honest, I thought GT looked great, but then again, you're right, it's a racing game. I'm no fan of racing, but the quality looked great.

But yeah I agree with you Enfadel, sometimes they decide on making those different games, which aren't looked at, as a top game. But meh, what can you do? Probably some day soon, this game we love so much will get realised.

@Enfadel - No, of course I think it will look a little better on PC, than on Console. The point is that I think CE2 might still be the better engine.

In my opinion they will not ruin the CE3 making it worst than CE2, they will make more options so worst PCs will be abble to run crysis smoother, but there will be options that will kick more Video Boards Ass's than CE2 already did. Like instead of Low

@Weaver

Not necessarily Weaver, I used the word swindler because I used the word "guy" in the following sentence so I had to mix it up. Thought it would add a little more emotion to the statement and make it more compelling. I also eluded that I had a theory about some of the motivations behind the decisions that were made by the editors. After all Nintendo is speculated to have Yakuza connections, so you never know. ; )

I saw a few very surprising choices and decided to share with you guys to hear your thoughts. that being said, what are your thoughts on the selections?

I found them heavily leaning in favor of the PS3 for whatever reason. I'm wondering if they didn't choose Crysis 2 because there were no behind doors showings of it, merely stage demos or what have you.

I know Shogun 2 had a closed doors showing, but it wasn't hands on playable yet it still won best RTS (though really, what competition did it have?).

I personally don't see why people like killzone enough to name it FPS of the show. It looks okay I guess, but it's basically every RTS ever except you get a jetpack, like we had in tribes 10 years ago.

Really though, Gamespot has no credibility with me since the whole Gerstmann situation.

why reviewers continue to shoot down Crytek's games, Ill never know, but I have a feeling Crysis 2 will take the world by storm up on release

If i'm not wrong, there is nothing official about that, but i think the trailer was rendered in-game or at least, crysis 2 for pc should look as good as shown in that trailer.

I'm almost sure of this... just look at the particles(like the debris generated by explosions or impact of projectiles). They seem produced by a game engine and not a 3d software. And the part that shows prophet from behind, is already present in a video released a while ago which showed the capabilities of CryEngine 3. In that video, the phrase "lifelike animations" refers to the(insane o.O) amount of details of facial animations, produced by the engine(far better than those seen in warhead) and i don't think Crytek "sponsored" a quality that the engine can't reach.
