You would be better off with Windows 7.

It's lighter than Vista, has less crap in it and if you have more than 2 gigs of RAM go for the 64bit version.

Unfortunatly Win XP doesn't support DX10, but I still think Win 7 would be better... in the long run I mean.

Less intrusive, UAC doesn't nag you as much as Win Vista, programs are much better optimized for Win 7, uses less resources.

PLUS, (for example), you can use an ATI gfx card to deal with graphics and a Nvidia card for phyxs while Vista will not allow you to.

windows 7 home premium, 32/64bit retali package £92.99 inc vat.............
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=35280&tid=gsearch

windows Vista home basic 64bit (OEM) £73.84 inc vat.............................
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=11765&tid=gsearch

Just to give you some idea, all most Vista products from this site seem to be (OEM)

I personally went for windows 7 but all the different OS are listed, and it depends if you just want to upgrade, :D

Don't believe the hype around DX10. If you haven’t got the $$ stick with XP, it’s a light OS that will be around for a while yet. When you are ready for an upgrade go straight to Windows 7 x64 and get yourself at least 4GB of RAM…Well that’s my opinion anyway....backed by over 10 years experience working in I.T. infrastructure ;-)

7 is great, but there's no real reason to upgrade if you're happy with XP

Go with 7, vista is super ****, xp is **** 7 is great. Also with 7 you get dx11 which none of the others have, so if you go vista you are already outdated the moment you purchase.

Xp was good for its time but the lack of features the HORRIBLE networking and no dx10 or 11 just makes it kind of useless really.

Well, it's really getting time to upgrade to Windows 7, Vista was a downgrade, but 7 was a huge upgrade.

Yeah, if you want to experience all the eye-candy from Crysis 2, i'd go for Windows 7 if you have a DX10 or DX11 card.

Only going by what it says in the box, that you cannot upgrade to windows 7, from XP, this didnt affect me, as I put it straight onto my new rig.
Windows vista drained more power basically than windows 7, thats how i see it, :-)

I hope I can upgrade to Windows 7. I'm so sick of Windows Vista.

How easy is it to upgrade OS systems, if I want to clear my HDD as well?

I actually like 7 more than XP. Skip Vista... just trust me on this, just pretend it doesn't exist. It's worth the extra $30 to get Windows 7 over Vista.

Personally, my Vista install was beyond ****. It would crash all the time for any reason. It couldn't even install the stability update to stop it from crashing without crashing.

I'm currently stuck on my current version of Windows Vista because the updates always crash my system now. I hate Windows Vista. Not to mention my current version of Vista and Crysis Wars seems to love the word BlueScreen.

All I want to do is wipe my HDD and get Windows 7. :)

It’s amazing how many people get on the 'Vista svcks' bandwagon. I am guessing a lot of this is born from users who really haven’t got a clue ;-) Vista did have a few teething issues agreed but with service pack 2 it was solid, you just had to know what you were doing :-)

You know what's funny? I was perfectly happy with Windows Vista until SP2 came out. Now I hate it because of the buggy glitching lagging crashing piece of **** it really is.

..I wasn't having a go at everyone who posted....far from it. Some people just tend to slag of Vista and XP without qualifying their claims :-)

Vista svcks. I had nothing but problems with it, and went back to XP SP3. Now I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and am a happy camper.
Windows 7 is literally Vista 2. Its just what Vista should have been.
