Crysis 2 Information

Post » Sun Dec 13, 2009 6:02 pm

Upon finishing the first Crysis recently, it has easily become my favorite first-person shooter. That being said, I just began looking at Crysis 2, so as to not ruin the surprises of Crysis 1. I have a few questions and subject matter that I would like to have addressed and/or discussed. Thanks

1. Sounds
- Will Greg Sunmark reprise his role as Nomad?
- Will Inon Zur continue his role as the composer of Crysis?

2. Customization Options
- Will there be customizable control scemes and/or a functional control layouts for the console versions of Crysis 2?
- Will custom crosshairs return as well?

3. System Requirements
- Would something similar to the functionality of an EVGA GTS 250 run Crysis 2 as well as it did for Crysis 1, or will a higher end graphics card be needed for a steady frame rate?

Thank you all very much for your time.

the second and third are both yes, crysis 2 is supposed to yhave about the same system specs as c1, but it will look better and you will have all of those customization options :). I dont know if the sounds will be the same but my guess is yes.

1) It's possible that we don't see Nomad anymore, since we're now supposedly playing as "Alcatraz". As for the composer, I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed.

2) It's trivial to implement various crosshairs, so I guess it will be on consoles. I don't see a reason to mess with all the customization options, except maybe controls on consoles. Expect a few layouts to choose from.

3) Nothing official so far, but everyone agrees that if you run Crysis, you'll run Crysis 2 at least as well.

1. In Crysis 2, we now play as the character Alcatraz, so Greg Sunmark is gone. It appears Inon Zur will still be with Crytek seeing that both Crysis and Crysis Warhead both recieved huge appraisal for the soundtrack. Crysis 2 seems to have a similar theme, appearing by the sounds of the trailers we have recieved. Atleast I hope so. Inon Zur was amazing.

2. Chances are that Crysis 2 will have several control layouts for your preferences, or even allow complete mapping of the controls to your will. I doubt the customizable crosshairs will return, because every weapon in Crysis 2 appears to have a different crosshair, but not one overall crosshair that you can change.

3. Chances are that you will need a GTX285 to run Crysis 2 with a great framerate and top notch graphics. Although Crytek has said that the CryEngine 3 scales much better to lower end cards because of the console support. You will be okay with a 250, just don't expect to be able to have everything top notch. However, that 250 will certainly get you a better framerate than it will in Crysis.

Thanks for the answers. I plan to read more into everything soon, but I had just finished Crysis.

I had everything working nicely on my graphics card, aside from a little hitching at the end, but I'll have to see system specs in the coming months. Looking forward to it. Thanks

Yep, it was their audio director, afaik. Was in some one of the Inside Crytek iirc. Which makes me think whether we're going to get the old inside crytek articles back...

Anyway, I agree, the Warhead Hovercraft Soundtrack was kinda epic. Though the Crysis soundtrack was slightly more special and orchestral.

I enjoyed both, but the Takao drums of Warhead sealed the deal for me. They complemented the jungle very nicely and really enhanced the experience.

@ Rotyus: you can run Crysis 2 fine, just upgrade your graphics card to the recommended hardware when Crytek released that information.
