Crysis 2 PC Lag spikes... whenever I shoot someone?

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 2:11 am

Hey everyone, I almost never use forums purely because I've never really wanted to or needed to, so excuse me for coming across as a bit weird haha.

Ok so I know there's been a lot of negative feedback and people angry with Crytek's Crysis 2 on PC, multiplayer issues and whatnot and, I've had an issue of my own but I promise to as civil about it as I can. :P

Basicaaaally- I was playing the game on the 24th when it came out, loved the single player portion, but I started getting random lag spikes, dropping from my average 40FPS, straight down to 0-1FPS.
After playing it repeatedly, it only seems to be getting worse, and whenever I shoot any NPC, I just get horrific lag spikes. I was bearing with it for a while, but now that I'm about half-way into the game, this is just unbearable.

Issue:
- Framerate just drops to 0-1FPS whenever I shoot an NPC despite being perfectly fine at any other given moment

I've already:
- Updated my graphics card drivers
- Uninstalled and Reinstalled the game
- Made sure it's nothing to do with my specs, Nvidia GTX 460, i5-760 2.8GHz, 4GB of RAM
- Tweaked the graphic and resolution settings
- Turned it off and on again!

And unfortunately, none of these have made any difference!

I really don't want to come across as rude, but it's really getting annoying and game-breaking and I'd like to know if anyone else if having the same issue, and if Crytek have taken note of it? As I stated earlier, I really do love this game but the issue here is really killing the otherwise fantastic experience for me.

Thanks guys!

Specs are:

Processor: Intel i5-760 2.8GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 460 (not overclocked or anything)
RAM: 4GB Samsung
Harddrive: 1 Terrabyte
Power Supply: 600W
Monitor at 1920 x 1080

I think that's all the important stuff? Had the computer for just under 3 months now, if that helps haha.

Hahaa, good to hear other people are enjoying it ! But yeaah, thanks for that- shows that it's unlikely to be a hardware fault with my computer.

Windows 7 64-bit. Got any ideas? I just tried it again. Still totally unplayable. I'm so lucky haha.

Yeep. Framerate is all good and stuff, until I start aiming and shooting at the NPCs. I honestly have no idea why it's doing it and I really wish there's something that could be done. D:

hmm, if you bought it through steam, then try verifying the files, if not, i'm not sure what to suggest other than to contact EA
