Crysis 2 'LAN online'

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 7:11 am

Well i'm not really sure what to call it but i'm basically on about two or more people using the same network to play in a online server. Me and my brother often play games together but we've found that on some games it just wont let both of us connect to the same server. We've recently tried to play on Crysis 2 but we couldn't get it to work and we were wondering if there's any way to get it to work.

My guess is that you have to change the port that one of you is using to play the game. Try starting the game with this command line option +clientport 27018 it may help it may not. Look around for how crysis 1 ports were changed maybe you'll find something. I'd help you but I have no way to test this myself.

Just tried it, me and my bro both used the command line but it still didn't work :(

One of you has to use it, both of you using it defeats the whole purpose!

I'm also in no way saying it will work, the general idea here is that Crysis is trying to communicate with the server on the same port with both of your games. So one of you has to change this port. I'm not sure what the command is so I'm saying you have to go look for it. I suggest asking people who play Crysis1, since there may be an overlap. I have no way of testing this myself.

Your router could be partially to blame for not dealing with this itself.

Ok, I think I found the variable and I think the game accepts it, try doing the following:

Only one of you, not the other:
Go to your crysis 2 installation folder and add the following line to autoexec.cfg:

net_lobby_gamespy_online_port 64101

If you don't have an autoexec.cfg make a text file and rename it autoexec.cfg

Let me know if that does anything.

Worked! ^^ Thanks a lot :)

Will this work with other games as well but with a different port?

I bet the command to change the port will be different for each game, but if you find it, it should work.

You don't even need to change the port, you can use that one every time no matter what game you have, so long as you are not trying to play two of them at the same time through the same port. ;-)
