Crysis: Legion

Allright, I have just started reading the book and so far I HATE it.
I am just past the beginning where Prophet talks to Alcatraz before shooting himself and I just can't stand how the author adds extra sentences and tries to give lame personalities to the main characters.
I don't know if things continues like that in the book but from what I've read, they shouldn't have made a novel based on the game but rather make a new story, like a spinoff.

To those who have read the entire book, what are your thoughts, and does it get better or not?

I was thinking of getting the book but was put off the fact that its the same story as the game in book form . They should have made a book that fills some of the plot holes like the tunguska thing and nomad .A good example of video game book his Halo's Fall of Reach

I didn't really like the style of writing--it's presented like a stream of consciousness rather than a coherent story. It's very fitting for the storyline, since all the characters are shocked/horrified/etc, but it's not so good for the reader.

That's just me though--I'm sure there are people who liked the book. And I certainly believe that a novelization of the game is a good thing. An expansion on the story would be nice too--the comics this summer do just that.

Peter Watts has a very different writing style. I like it!

Legally read first 50 pages here and I like it very much, but didn'r buy this book, cause it's very hard to read Peter Watts in english.

Okay so I did read the whole book, I must say, the author has talent, but rewriting parts of the game story is not acceptable either follow it like we experienced it or write a complete different story.

Like I said before, this book would have gained so much more if they didn't based it from the game campaign...

There's a high chance that Peter Watts was working off an earlier draft of the game's script, which might explain some of the disparities between the game and the novel. This usually happens with movie and TV show episode adaptations too, because the book has to come out roughly around the same time as the movie/game/whatever (with some exceptions, like Halo: the Flood) in order to synergize the releases.

It doesn't get much better as you go on. I know Alcatraz is supposed to be a marine, but I think they could've filtered out some of the cussing.

They should've explained it more in the game, or touched on some issues a bit IE:transhumanism. The plot in the game was kinda boring, but better in the book. I read it hand in hand while playing the game. It really added to the plot when playing.
