Crysis 2 Limited edition disgust

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 10:42 am

I'd just like to register my feeling of a great lack of customer loyalty. I bought the Crysis 2 Limited edition and it only comes with a few multiplayer unlocks. When a DLC pack comes out I'd at least expect to get at least one DLC item for free or at a reduced price at the very least.... but no. Then I see they're giving out codes to random people on Facebook and every code I try has expired. Surprisingly.

Come on EA where's your loyalty to your paying customers or is it more likely that now you have my money you don't give a damn?

All current versions of Crysis 2 are "Limited Edition". There is no regular, vanilla version at the moment that you can buy in stores.

Also, those codes are to promote the new DLC and get the word out that they are in fact fantastic maps (I have them, best maps in the game in my opinion). They're one time use, first come first serve, which are undoubtedly claimed within minutes. It's like a contest or raffle if you will--not everyone gets the freebies.

seeing as many times DLC on XBL costs 1200 ms points, and the C2 pack cost 800, I'd say that IS a reduced price...

And I agree that the maps you get are easily the best mp maps in the game.

There is in UK. I originally had the ltd traded & for Brink then traded it back for that standard edition

But if you play CTR a lot then avoid them completley

So I completely understand the point of view of "I'm not giving them more $ until they fix everything in the game"... but I have to say that even with the problems, which I personally do think that they are still working on, these maps are so good that I really don't mind the lag and the other more minor issues.
I love the size of them, makes it much more fun to play IMO. If I never set foot on Skyline again it'll be too soon!

Really? You bought a limited edition and thought you would get a discount off the the dlc just because of that? If that was even remotely possible, that information would've been included on a card with a code on to use once the dlc came out. About them giving codes away, that's just for publicity, if i was EA, i would do so as well. After all, isn't it better giving away some free codes for a few lucky people than not giving away any codes at all?

Actually I thought "Limited Edition" meant there was a standard edition, and I was getting things other players didn't, not stuff that everyone seems to be able unlock anyway.

I mean this is usually what "Limited Edition" means, like the different versions of HALO Reach had different items that could only be gotten with a code from buying the right copy.

Would of been cool to have a hologram on the scar when noobs didn't. but alas no, everyone got it with purchase, and it can be unlocked in game anyway.

As for the DLC, both HALO map packs were 800 points, albeit only 3 maps in each, but hey at least the effin game works and has people playing it.

For 1200 points I got an entire new addon for BC2 maps, weapons, vehicles, new player models, basically a whole new game, weighed in at about 1.5gig not 100mb and at least the effin game works and has people playing it.

Many of those "1200" pointer map packs usually end up as a deal of the week for "400" very quick, eventually the noble and defiant HALO maps will be free as is usually the way with HALO, but hey those discounted ones are usually for effin games that work and have people playing them.

Plus many 1200 point DLC are expansion packs that can add a whole new game to an existing title, or have 5 maps also in FPS adding ewntirely new content and areas, not just rips from the SP game and well they generally effin work and have people playing them.......

Anyone see a pattern here?

Reach... "works". It doesn't have glitches and bugs but it certainly has other problems. The DMR. It ruined Halo gameplay, destroyed the weapon balance and sandbox, but that's for another time. Crysis is balanced, it works, even if there are a few glitches, a bit of lag issues, it still beats every other FPS out there right now.

I have to disagree.

Crysis 2 may be a better game than the likes of Black Ops looks wise etc, but it sure as heck doesn't perform on a consistent level (ie, Lag + Network Coding issues) as a lesser looking game like Black Ops.

Hence why I've gone for a poorer looking game (Black Ops) and it runs like a dream.

When I get killed on Black Ops, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Halo Reach, Homefront it's for one reason - It's because they were the BETTER PLAYER in that insance, and not because of the shambolic excuse for Network Coding
