Crysis 2 looks better on the PS3 than on 360... I KNEW IT!

Post » Tue Mar 24, 2009 3:04 am

So, found this.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=242728

PC will look the best out of all of them, but for those of us who cannot play the PC game, PS3 is the next best thing.

Please PS3, be 1080p

It says "perform best" and not looking best. I will be able to play the game on every platform, and I will choose pc.
If the PS3 plays at 1080p I will eat my own face.
Considering games like MW2 can't even play at 1080p on consoles , I doubt it. They can't even run at 720p, they're just upscaled to those resolutions.

should be something like this:

PC > PS3 > xbox

as far as quality and performance goes.

I knew that quite a while ago, PS3 is still generally young, so it may end up looking a little better, and performance wise, a little better as well.

Nonetheless, PC and PS3, here I come!

Meh, not really surprised. The Xbox 360 now has a selling point of $150 (since the SLIM comes out next week) - and the Xbox has been around for almost a year longer than the PS3.

Either way, doesnt matter. My Core i7 12 gigs of ram and GTX 295 will do a MUCH better job playing Crysis 2 than any console. Oh, and my dual 1200p monitor setup ;)

AS I SAID, I WOULD get it on PC, but our PC would not handle it at the lowest. So PS3 is the next best thing

naive speculation and pathetic fanboyism.

Facts:
- ONE crytek employee ONCE said theyre getting along better on the ps3.
- during cryengine3 demos the ps3 version had better draw distance but seemed to lack motion blur and crashed multiple times.
- at gdc 2010 both versions looked identical (and horrible).
- the first released gameplay video and all E3 demonstration thats coming out now runs on 360.

anything in there that strengthens an irrational opinion you already have and will not let go off? then fire away - tell everyone how any of this proves anything. i dont care what team people are on, i dont respect emotional self-affirming behaviour like saying your system is the best. you know why youre saying that? cause you want to have made the right decision. many people spend more time researching about a product AFTER they buy it. sound familiar?

It will look slightly better than the 360 I see no reason to fight over the consoles because they are so similar graphics-wise.

360 has a better gpu, so shader effects will probably look and perform better. PS3 has a better CPU so it makes sense that draw distance would be better. A modern gaming PC has a better cpu AND gpu (and more ram), so it will probably perform and look much better than either console version.

IIRC, Cevat said in an interview way back in 2007 that the only real thing preventing a Crysis-like game on consoles was the lack of memory NOT processing power. An entire level in Crysis takes up ~ 1.2 GB of ram, and then you have to add all of the texture and AI data to that memory as well. I think I'm correct in saying that both platforms have ~512 MB of ram total (256 dedicated video ram, 256 for the system). You can see where the problems arise.

But I digress - remember, the great thing about CE3 is its ability to dynamically scale its performance for each platform. TBH I doubt there will be a noticeable difference graphics-wise on the two console platforms. Maybe a few small things here and there, but for the most part they will look and perform equally well.

And no, the game will probably not be run at 1080p on PS3 - lol there's not nearly enough video ram on either system to render the game at that resolution. I'll be impressed if Crysis runs at 720p native on consoles (none of that upscaling BS).

Crytek has admitted that it's getting "slightly more performance" out of the PS3 version of Crysis 2 than the Xbox 360 edition.

Everyone is overlooking that they said "slightly more." That hasn't been put into terms of frame rates or even image quality. One of their editors even said it looks exactly the same as the Xbox 360 verson. All you fanboys need to calm down.

The bottom line is that the consoles will look exactly the same in-game. Anything above that is simply "nit-picking."

yay another console war. The Xbox 360 and PS3 provide the same graphics when the game is on both consoles. The onlt difference is lighting and to me thats not enough to say if one is better then the other. Also the PS3 and Xbox 360 both upscale to 1080P not making that graphics look better at all. The power thats in both systems for a graphics unit dont even match the 4670 from ATI or the 8800GT from Nvidia and those are bottom line cards.

If you look at just the hardware between the ps3 and the 360 this should come as no LARGE surprise. However the PC still takes the cake and will not only "Look" as good as the console versions, But will RUN better than them by far, but thats no surprise

But the pc version is the best version, but not a computer can play this on very high, then you see crysis 1 xD
