Crysis 2 low fps on capable card

Post » Wed Dec 09, 2009 3:57 pm

My rig was able to run the original crysis at everything very high with 4x AA, I thought this game would be even easier to max out on - i was wrong.

Mah Rig

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor, ~3.2GHz
Memory: 8 gig
Card: Radeon 5750 1 gig

I get about 20-25 fps average on extreme and it only goes up into the 30s on lowest settings.
On the demo i got 40-50 fps after I disabled motion blur.
But i hear that in the retail version that is not possibe
Anything I can do?

Hey,
I'd recommend turning the graphics down to Very high. This will remove some of the excessive blur and increase your FPS. Extreme is for the most part the game's way of enabling anti-aliasing.

I have a Radeon HD 5850 and my PC chugs a little at 1920x1080 at Extreme.

Oh, and also make sure you have the latest catalyst drivers!

I think i may have the same problem as you. i was running this game on my gtx 460 1gb average 35-40fps no problem. then about 2 hours ago for some odd reason i started to get 20fps and it would never go up. it does not matter if i retard my card so it on full performance it doesnt matter if i take it out of 1080. it does not matter if i swap it to a lower graphic setting. the most i will get out of it is like 30fps when for the lat 2 days i was pulling 35-40fps nice and easy with no problems.

You did not get those framerates on Crysis 1 with that card... sorry. Maybe if you were running an extremely low res or something but it just isn't possible.

Have you checked afterburner or gpu-z to see if your clocks were still up ? sometimes when you're gaming and temps get to hot or your psu can't keep up, the clocks will go down a lot causing low fps.

I did expect a few to be doubtful, but i did, and at max resolution too. It is not as bad a card as people think.
The AA was not at max, my card svcks at handling AA

Exactly! I don't get how people are convinced that anything under $150 will not run Crysis.

I ran Crysis: Warhead in DX9 with all settings Enthusiast (and DX10 "features" enabled through autoexec) on my GT 240 OC @ 1440 x 900 and 30 FPS. At DX10 and Enthusiast presets it ran like crap but with the proper mods you can get the exact same visual quality and a lot more FPS on low end cards. (No AA)

Crysis 2 actually runs WORSE for me. I have to turn the resolution down to 1360 x 768 or 1280 x 720 to run on Extreme.

I think the problem is crytek with their crappy optimization of this game for pc, it feels like a freaking port.
Crytek said we would be getting all the good stuff like directx 11.
Instead we got directx 9 which is so 2004 and problems with textures, fps, and crossfire.
We better get a hell of a patch 1.2

You can use console commands to make further adjustments to the graphics quality, but the 5750 is probably just not good enough to run the game at current highest settings with a great framerate. I can believe that it did well with Crysis, but that doesn't mean it will do well with C2. Also, you didn't run Crysis at max resolution with that setup and get playable framerates, you probably just had it at 1920x1080. Not trying to be rude, but you need a better gfx card if you expect to run C2 on current max settings.

Having similar issues myself. 4ghz i7, 6gb ram, dual GTX 460SE 1gb video cards. Running at 25-30, never more than 30, fps on every single graphics setting at 1920x1200. Should be getting way better than that.

Crysis 1 looked better and ran better on my 9800GTX+. No joke.
