Has anyone tried the new CAP from ATI that is supposed to help Crysis Crossfire Performance?

As always, EA has not lost the bad habit ... beta testers we are .... the usual crap!
Crytec brilliant , look at the forum, people have paid, people want to play, do not stand to read 15K of threads of technical problems ...

In the next game , put up the Achievement for technical problems so we really start to "play", the first day of release ....

Shame

We wait for a patch , we wait for play .... tnx

Just wanted to say that I have the same problem, and playing on 1 gpu (5870) is not a solution 4 me. I hope the patch will be realized soon, cause if crack for pirate version would be realised sooner, there will be pathetic situation when guys who paid cannot play, because of 1.1 patch that broke the game, but others who download it freely will play without any troubles. As it was said higher - its a shame =\

*******You guys must have missed my post!!!!
I can also confirm that after a Crysis 2 uninstall, then installing again while disabling the internet to bypass the update does fix the problem!

A bit hard to do with Steam, eh?

This is really upsetting...

I get really good performance out of the game at 1920x1080 but it looks crap on my 2560x1440 monitor.

So basically, I don't know what to do. I can play it now, at a monitor scaled resolution that is lower than native, it looks blurry and a bit yuk but still good and SUPER smooth at that res. Or play it at 20 - 30 fps at 2560x1440... that frame rate is unnacceptable.

FFS I bought a 5970 for the exact reason of running games at full native res. BAH!!!

is there a certain section that the flickering occurs on as I havent seen any yet...

I heard there was some when you first come out of the room and get your ammo at the very start but that was as smooth as butter..

Im using the EVGA SLI Enhancement pack. 2x GTX 570's. beta drivers.

Consider yourself lucky. You either have some magical hardware/driver combo or your simply immune to flicker (there are those that it doesn't bother).

"Flicker" has nothing to do with smoothness. The game literally flashes at 30 Hz over-top of a smooth framerate. Disabling vsync makes it worse.

Just like to add that I've got the same problem with my ATi 4870 Crossfire. Crysis 2 is unplayable right now due to the flickering.

Hi there, thanks for posting the vid in the OP, it's handy to have that kind of information.

We are aware of this issue and are working towards resolving it ASAP so that you can enjoy the huge SLI frame rates!

In the mean time, i believe it will work if you disable SLI/CF? Can you confirm this is the case?

Thanks!

Hey Cry-Adam!

It's confirmed all over that disabling CFX or SLI "fixes" the problem.
So is it true? Did that $2M from nvidia go towards a DX11 patch that will hobble AMD cards and make SLI look like GOD? You guys are so cool. Maybe Seagate can cough up some dough to make it run like crap if somone has a Western Digital drive!! :)

Cry-Adam

Disabling multi gpu - solves the problems, that was admitted many times, so its true. Can you say please, when we can wait for patch realise?

hmizer

I don't think any one will admit it, we'll see everything later. But what can I say as ati user (5870 cross), that I'll be happy if amd would pay someone to improve performance on their vga (I trully believe, that if NV pays someone - they did it not to lower fps on ati, but to make higher fps on NV). Blaming NV because they care about their customers - is not right, at least that my imho.

PaRaR0X: I totally disagree. Even now you can hack hybrid PhysX (ATI GPU with NV for PhysX) but NV broke it in their drivers. That wasn't about making something better for their customers. Anyway, after two non-overclocked GTX 580s died on me in less than 2 months it will be a long time before I consider their offerings again.

Edit: another example is Batman: Arkham Asylum. The devs broke in-game FSAA for AMD so you'd have to force it through CCC which is slower...TOMMTI came out with a hack to make it in-game FSAA work on AMD but then you couldn't save your games. Finally, when the "gold" or whatever edition came out, they re-enabled in-game FSAA for AMD.

This is NOT making it better for your customers - it is paying someone to screw over your competitor's customers.

Video of AMD Crossfire Flicker:

Maybe it's good to know that when recorded with FRAPS, it does not have any flicker in the recording.

About physics - that's a company politics, like not working SLI on old Intell mobos - yes that's not user friendly, but no - there is no conspiracy. I'm speaking about that, if there would be proofed that "meant 2 be played" lowers fps on amd adapters - that will be great hit on nv and game developers reputation. And there is no reason to defend amd if they don't care about their customers. I'm using ati cards rather long, but from 10.4 I'm not really pleased with their drivers, they still can't fix all BC2 issues, but I understand that there is no ideal vendors and both of them have their own bugs and glitches.

About dead cards - **** happens), all vendors don't have perfect cards, my last dead card was nv 295 but that's saying nothing about reliability of all nv products.

What about the Batman:AA example I gave (I edited my post so you might have missed it). That was clearly a case of a hobbled game. There are other games that run better if you use A hack to spoof the GPU vendor as well.

can you all please keep the offtopic / general talk about companies and their evil plans OUT of this thread, as it seems it is the OFFICIAL thread for non working SLI / CF and it's a pain in the ass to read through all your offtopic discussions.

much appreciated!

If you have the disc version, do the following to to get rid of flickering until there is a fix:
1. When it asks if you wish to update press cancel.
2. Then go in to Start menu click computer. Find your hard drive (for me C:drive). Click program files (if you are using Win 7 64 bit click Program files 86) find "EA folder"
3. Find Crytek folder and double click
4. Find Crysis 2 folder double click.
5. Double click Bin 32 folder
6. Click activation folder (there are three I can't remember exactly which one but it will ask for your code.
7. Now click Crysis 2 about three or four folder below. Do not click the cyris icon on desktop or crysis launch otherewise it will force you to update.
NOTE: You will need play the game by going in to Bin32 until there is a fix.
Have fun.

ATI HD5970 2GB (xfire), on win 7 64bit with 12 GB of DDR3

The flickering makes your eyes bleed after one minute. Running in windowed makes everything very fuzzy and bright; lowering gamma did not help much, and game seems to perform sluggish in windowed mode.

Honestly, I purchased this in good faith as I was so impressed with Crysis and Crysis Warhead; now I sure wish I had read some player reviews in this forum before doing so. It's so awful I have no words for it. Didn't you guys test this at least a tiny bit? This is such a letdown.
