Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:00 am

I have crossfired 5870s and get the horrible flickering. So glad I waited for months for this and payed good money......hopefully AMD/NVIDIA release profiles soon to fix this. All you can do at this point is turn off crossfire. For me the game still runs great like this but of course I would prefer my crossfire set up. Now we wait.....

Hell, at least most of you guys are able to play it, even with Crossfire turned off..... I have a 5970. I don't have the option to turn mine off.

/sigh

If your SLI is working please post your specs and driver info. I am just trying to find some clue as to why this problem only effects certain people.

ATI user, rename Crysis2.exe to Bioshock.exe its a temp fix for crossfire and flickering issue. you wont get 100% scaling but its better than 1 gpu.

I am running two GTX 260's OC'd and i get like 10-15 FPS with SLI enabled but 30-40FPS with only one GPU enabled. I wasn't getting flickering just a huge slow down with SLI enabled for some reason.... seemed to run fine in the demo with SLI. Unsure of the reason for this, Crytek should release Dx10-11 and SLI support soon I hope!!!

Nice to see Crytek's support qaulity continues from the multiplayer demo into retail. not a single reponse to the issues. Bit like how they never fixed the login issues for many people by the time the Multiplayer demo ended.

Same here, this really needs to be fixed fast. I'm using an xfx 5970 and I don't want to play a game in windowed mode to fix a problem that should have been fixed off the bat.

ATI user, rename Crysis2.exe to Bioshock.exe its a temp fix for crossfire and flickering issue. you wont get 100% scaling but its better than 1 gpu.

Renaming it to Shift2.exe or rift.exe or crysis.exe also seem to work however, scaling is no where near 100%.

With the flickering I get ~50 fps. With the renamed exe I get ~30fps. With CFX disabled, I get ~22 fps. I haven't tried naming it bioshock yet, but I will now to see if it's any better than the others.

This is awful.

I just installed Crysis 2. Then I ran Crysis 2. Then Crysis 2 flickered, picture began lagging and then it completely locked up. Crysis 2 not only gives me the horrible flickering, but also locks up the game and I have to shut down. I have 2 ASUS Matrix 5870 Platinum's in crossfire. This is absolutely horrible. I was able to play the Demo fine, but the actual release, can't even get past the opening sequence before it crashes.

Using Saphire 6950 crossfire with 11.2 Catalyst and getting the same issue. Disabling crossfire fixes the issue with the flickering but the demo worked fine, retail version needs to be fixed ASAP. I'm not going to disable a card that I paid alot of money for just to play a game.

GUYS......

These are all Driver and SLI/Crossfire profile issues which are the responsibility of the Graphics card manufacturers to resolve by updating their profiles now that the game has released, I hope other people can point you to the right direction but complaining about this like its a game issue when its clearly not is pointless...set up an account at your graphics card manufacturers forums if you want better assistance because the ball is in NVIDIA and AMD's court to resolve these issues, not Crytek or EA...a game patch has nothing to do with crossfire or sli.

THE DEMO WORKED FINE FOR ME WITH CROSSFIRE ENABLED!

[caps]

Well this isn't the demo now is it...give ATI and Nvidia a day or so and this should be sorted out.

It would be nice to see them at least make a post stating that they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix ASAP. They better get this fixed cuz most people who play crysis have multiple gfx cards or dual gpu cards since this game is a beast to run at full tilt. It's as if they just closednup shop once the demo came out and said screw em well fix things when were ready. This is a pretty huge oversight and I can't believe it got past Quality control. Shows what kind of testers they got working over there.

ATI 5970
Crazy flickering on a newly formatted clean Windows 7 machine.
11.2 CAP4 + Catalyst 11.4

I confirm that with Radeon pro I can disable crossfire and the flickering stop.

Crossfire users: try catalyst 10.10e, 10.11 or 10.12 with the 11.2 cap 4 installed. Even though I do not yet own Crysis 2 (I am waiting for DX11), I have been getting flickering issues in tons of games with 11.1, 11.2, and 11.4 preview (Bulletstorm, Gears of War, Dawn of War, Fallout 3 and New Vegas) with my 5850s in Crossfire. I have reported this to AMD a couple of times. I have scoured the internet about the issue and have found hardly any help on the problem.

What I do know is that going out of full screen disables crossfire which is why the flickering goes away. Like most of you, my flickering goes away when crossfire is disabled. I urge all of you with issues to report it to NVIDIA or AMD and maybe we finally will get some help.

I hope this info helps some of you. Good luck!

I can confirm that taking it off fullscreen fixes the light flickering in a crossfireX configuration.

Yea Im pissed, I just spent $700 on 2 gtx570 and $2000 on a 60 inch 3d tv for this game and now all I see it a flickering console game with or with out 3d.

If you havent gotten it yet then do your self a favor and dont buy it this is a **** xbox game and the multiplayer is **** to. dx11 for this game is like polishing a turd... at the end of the day you still have a shinny piece of ****. I cant wait till they start making real games again that are not ment for 11 year old girls that think that ps3 graphics are the pinnacle of visuals.
