Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Radeon HD 5970

This flicker is unbearable, I can't play this game at the moment.

Try what I just posted 3 minutes before you :)

uhm .. copying the crysis.exe from the game disc into the bin32 folder didnt change anything, still getting the same flickering?

I'm running a 5970, 11.2 drivers, Win7 64bit and it works for me.
I even tried changing back and forth a few times and it still works...

Edit:
I just tried the "downloadable" Crysis2.exe and no flickering with that one...

Got the same problem flickering like hell.
I have ATI 4870X2 which is a dual GPU. And I don't want to run it on one GPU because of low performance. Patch plox!

Use RadeonPro (ATi users) or nHancer (NVidia users).... you can profile your CFX or SLI configurations to work flawlessly on Crysis 2 (already done it... works great with 4 GPUs)

I got my xfire to work randomly. But when I hit a load screen it screws back up.

I enabled
turned game on
tabbed out (messed around on the internet)
went back into game and wala it looked great.

But sadly, a persistent annoying bug keeps me from playing it. As I don't want to after ever load screen tab out for X minutes to wait for it to work.

So I will not be playing it again today....

I had cancelled this game but after speaking to a mate who worked on it I felt kind of bad so I re-ordered it. What a pile if **** this is. I am going for worst game of the year.

As for the flickering I found turning off all form of AA through console or a config program stopped the flickering on my sli 480's. Hope this helps.

The weekend started & I'd REALLY want to play this game on my new 2-months-wage dual GPU PC now...
why wasn't this just TESTED properly?
Running it on any dual GPU setup seems to cause the flickering problems, so imo it's pretty crazy to assume they didn't know of this when they launched the game / patch.
I feel TOTALLY ripped off because of that. I am convinced EA knew about the bugs, and they should've added at LEAST a disclaimer to the purchase; so I could have known what I'd be getting myself into: not playing the game but instead whining at the forum for some tech support...

Does steam give refunds?

My 5970s are smoking this game...without V-Sync on it runs too fast.

I started the game yesterday and it didn't flicker with crossfire on. I was so surprised because it always flickers. I go to my desktop to open fraps and come back and the flicker is back. I don't know what i did to make the flicker go away but I cant repeat it. Game is unplayable with the flikering.

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
-Asus Rampage 3 Extreme
-I7 980x @ 4.40GHZ
-24gb corsair vengeance ram @1600mhz
-2x EVGA GTX580 SC SLI
-Corsair Ax1200 power supply

I didn't actually start showing symptoms of this problem until last night. I installed the most recent Nvidia drivers (266.58) plus the EVGA 38 SLI upgrade patch. For the first couple days of having the game it ran correctly 1920x1200 on extreme setting and I was getting between 175-200 FPS constantly. Last night my drivers crashed at windows. I didn't think anything of it and proceeded to load the game. All the words during the loading screen were pink and the game ended up crashing before it had completely loaded. When I got back to windows, it showed that the drivers had crashed again. So I rebooted the game one more time and made it to the menu fine, but as soon as I loaded my campaign mode it started flickering like everyone else's Multi-GPU problems. This time it was playable but still looked horrible.

I went back to windows uninstalled the EVGA patch and Nvidia drivers. Reinstalled w/o EVGA patch. I've since then been playing w/o SLI getting between 75-120 FPS. Tried both video cards seperatly and both have equal results. I also played a couple other games in SLI with no problems.

I Just thought I would share my experience in this matter.

Hope the next Nvidia driver set supports SLI for Crysis 2. Plus I hope the first patch for the game will fix some of the simple graphical errors that people, including myself, have been witnessing.

I'm running 2XHD 5770 in Crossfire and got crazy flickering (mostly the sky in outdoor scenes). Found the solution on another board: Turn off A.I. in Catalyst. Fixed it.

Turning off AI disables crossfire....

Disabling the AI also disables the crossfire, which in turn does a load on performance.

Hi I too have the same problems of flickering with two HD 5870 and it works off a regolarmente.Che problem could be? Even changing the settings in the graphics card does not change anything and if by chance all set to performance is impossible to vedere.più imposed cards and less than I flichering.

I love that people's genuine solution is turning off Crossfire, that's not a solution, that's just gimping yourself. I fixed my 5970 flicking by running a RadeonPro profile and set it up to Bioshock Crossfire profile, flicker gone and performance is good. However, don't start adding all sorts of non-vanilla AA through RadeonPro or the autoexec.cfg, 'else the flicker returns.

I made the same mistake of claiming it is a fix too (which others have correctly pointed out that it disables Crossfire, so it's certainly a less-than-ideal workaround). It would be nice if CCC had some feedback to notify the user that turning off this seemingly unrelated setting will also disable Crossfire, but what can you do.

Yeah alt-enter doesn't work for me.. SLI stays enabled and the flickering stays on.

if I use a 5760x1080 desktop and run in windowed mode the flickering stops, but my FPS tanks so It's the same as no SLI full screen.

Same here, but i rolled back to 263.09 driver and the SLI_Update_v7_267.24.exe, now it works, believe thats better than Windowed Mode when surrounding. Getting about 64 FPS with Very High and about 45+some input lag with Extreme. Doesn't really look so much better with Extreme settings, only a more blurred picture with the extreme bloom and motion blur.

Check my Profile for spec, Sli gtx580 and other stuff.

Regards

FINALLY! I found a fix for myself with newer drivers!

I used the 270.28 +modded .inf file and no EVGA profiles or anything.

Insane Flickering and weird shadowing is gone and SLI works as dual horses :) Pretty good performance in this drivers, feels like it loads maps even faster. I'm happy and can at last enjoy the single-player campaign in full immersion.

Hope this helps someone else as well! Good luck!

So, my question has to be how exactly did they miss the whole flicking with ATi multi-GPU rigs? Did you get that much money from nVidia that you didn't even test on ATI?

Switching the CD .exe file with the one installed fixes the flickering for me and I assume both GPU are at work, because I get about 65 fps average (using fraps) with two 5770's. This is on advanced setting. Extreme I get about 45 fps average. But, I don't know if it works with MP, I'm waiting for a fix for the MP flickering or what not. But so far the single player is extremely playable for me.

What's funny is that I had posted a while ago, during the MP demo that I was having this problem. At the time I had thought I fried my GPU's, even have a video on how I fixed it then.

AMD 6990 4GB
12 GB Ram
Quad-Core 3.20 GHZ i7

Light sources all flicker like a strobe light. Most intense while outside. I think it is obvious by all the YouTube videos, forum comments both here and elsewhere that there IS in fact a issue that occurs on both AMD(ati) and NVIDIA cards WHICH makes is a game glitch!

I have tested it on 4 diff displays at every resolution and quality setting. I was only able to get the flickering to stop using a Samsung SyncMaster T240 DVI with a resolution of 1600x1200 and quality set to extreme. Anything else flickers at various intensities.
