Hey, I have the HD5970 and had the Flicker issue. I changed the .exe to Rift and it worked. I changed it to Bioshock and it also work (I have the non-steam version). What my question for anyone that has done the same, I have run both through Radeon Pro and when I use the bioshock version the frame rate boosts 60+ (1920x1080 - extreme in game). BUT when I use the rift version the FPS drop to around 40+. Both still playable, but I was wondering maybe when using the bioshock version it drops something..AA maybe. Just wanted to see if anyone knows etc. Cheers.

It's my understanding that depending on the name of the executable you run (bioshock.exe, crysis2.exe, rift.exe) AMD detects the name and loads a custom profile which "optimizes" the game performance on their cards for that game.

Rift.exe will load a profile that is supposed to work well with Rift. Rift has issues with crossfire btw and it also has a larger performance hit than using bioshock.exe. Using farcry.exe seems to lower textures etc. I don't know if i would blame a lack of anything on bioshock, i would probably blame the rift one for worse performance.

Someone could probably find a profile that may actually work better than bioshock, and if you do let us know. In the meantime i'll stick with bioshock until they fix it.

heres a solution for nvidia

Russian

Нашлось решение поставленного вопроса:

1. Качаете драйвера для GTX 590 -

ru.download.nvidia.com/Windows/267.85/267.85_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international.exe

2. Качаете файл nv_disp.inf, в котором кроме GTX 590 прописаны остальные карты различных линеек GeForce -

download908.mediafire.com/wcv2c72dxcng/2mrr24dp5772u2g/nv_disp++267.84+win7_vista+x64+INTERNATIONAL.rar

2. download file nv_disp.inf, that content instead of GTX 590 the other GeForce Cards data-

download908.mediafire.com/wcv2c72dxcng/2mrr24dp5772u2g/nv_disp++267.84+win7_vista+x64+INTERNATIONAL.rar

3. start unpacking drver 267.85 is will promt you error - its OK
4. In folder Display.Driver open file nv_disp.inf and copy section [Version] above
5. insert copied section to previously downloaded nv_disp.inf and save
6. Put saved file nv_disp.inf in to directory Display.Driver with replacement of the original file
7. start setup.exe and setup driver

Instruction is not mine I just translated it to english.
Tested.
Working.

The different profiles such as bioshock and rift show different performances. I think the best performance I got was with AssassinsCreedBrotherhood.exe

But still Crytek do something please!

ATI HD5970 2GB (built-in xfire)

- importing the crysis2. exe from the CD into the bin32 folder doesn't fix the flickering.
- adjusting the brightness in-game reduces the flickering a tiny bit, until you look up at the sky or any bright lamp or light.
- disabling xfire and running on 1 card only makes the game look very dark and "fuzzy / dreamlike", like some excessive bloom / glare is in place. (I don't know how else to put it) - same when running windowed.
- installed the latest CAP from ATI, tried the forum community suggestions with RadeonPro, the flickering is still there, to a lesser extent, but the bright glare/bloom effect is then magnified.
- following CAP updates, have tried Bioshock, Rift and Wow exe renames, but im still getting flickering ..
- after running crysis 2 and having the flicker issue, at one stage I launched Shogun 2, and it seemed the flickering carried over to that game. when trying Fallen Earth, it was there too. upon PC reboot, all ok again (except crysis 2 ofcourse) so it seems to linger somewhere after you launch crysis 2.

- I've tried combinations of all the above in various stages to no effect. I've tried every single suggestion on this forum and have been stalking these forums since i got the game on thursday morning (its saturday night now) - happy to try anything that I havent mentioned above

- I dont care about DX11 - I just want to be able to PLAY the game without getting a brain hemorrhage :/

And what about those who have a single card with multi gpu, like me and mine 4870x2? Mine suggestion, go bother some other forum.

On topic. Just wondering how many fps do you with one 4870x2 get when running with Bioshock? And what drivers do u suggest?

Read the **** thread good lord, how many times do people have to repeat themselves. Window mode disables multi gpu support, that is not a solution.

Yes moron. It does make me feel better to get 120 FPS with my 3 480's than 50 FPS with a Single one. I guess you're one of those casual "gamers' this game is targetting who could give a **** about quality graphics and thinks the human eye can't see more than 24 fps.

This is a large thread and I dont know if this has been recomended yet so sorry if it has.
To anyone having SLI flickering have you loaded the SLI Profile Update that was made available at the release of the Demo? I have had no issues and im assuming its because of it. Im running with i7 920xm and GTX 285m SLI

What a pathetic excuse for blowing up so much money on a three gpu setup, that's insane man...There are no games out there that require three video cards to run smoothly and looks like there isn't going to be one after crysis 2, go buy your girlfriend something nice instead (if you've got one).

Wait for Crytek to make a PC game ^^

Crytek just made this one multiplatform game called Crysis 2. It's a console AND a PC game alike. The PC features are still being implemented through patches and updates because EA didn't give enough time for Crytek to finish the game; even the console versions have problems too.

The single player is epic and the multiplayer is fun, i suggest you pick it up. It looks and runs better than its predecessor............................

uptotrix: If you got nothing to add in this thread, get lost.

Raccoon_says_squeek: Have you tried copying the crysis2.exe from the disk to the bin32 folder?
Solved the problem with my 5970..

Can Crytek at LEAST tell us "We have noticed the flickering and we are working hard to address this issue". So far I haven't heard JACK!

uhm, how do you know all this? PC features still to be implemented? I haven't seen anything from Crytek confirming what you're stating.
Im glad you find the single player epic; I can't even play the singleplayer campaign because of the flickering issue this thread is about.

I bought this game despite the bad critics...and I just learn that CrossFire will cause trouble.... That a shame !!!
Please Crytek; now you have chosen to be console addicted; so stop PC gaming.

whoa...I have 6850s in cf running at 2560x1600. Haven't found any game that i can't play. As you can see I am not whining about not being able to run this game with CF because it's not really needed for crysis 2 (and most other games) in my opinion, disable one card in catalyst control center and life will be easy or just wait for a patch, it's as simple as that. Honestly, anyone wanting to run a port on cf/sli makes me think they are asking a bit too much for their investment. duh

This is not your thread, I have every right to express my opinion. Go soak your head in the gutter if you don't like his posts.

btw, I have xbox too which i use it to watch netflix. There is a difference between mediocrity and stupidity...you are the latter, if you don't know how to spend money at least give it to some poor kid who can't even afford to play crysis 1 instead of expressing your stupidity by purchasing hardware that you won't even use.

nonomite are you sticking up for uptotrix?

uptotrix I have a single 5970 and I can't run the game at 2560 when one card is disabled so I've downgraded to my 24" monitor rather than my 27". Too be honest, I'm not really caring that much and it's still incredibly pretty at 1920 and smooth enough to play, but I would prefer to be able to play the game at it's peak on my 27". My investment in hardware is such that I should be able to expect a game that is released (especially one such as Crysis 2) to work on the top end hardware. It's an enthusiast game that doesn't work with enthusiast hardware... go figure.
