Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 3:01 pm

Hi guys,

i′m new in these forums so let me say hello. :)

i had the same issues with the insane flickering using an HD4870x2. In another forum I saw someone stating that renaming the crysis.exe to Bioshock.exe solves the problem. i tried it and it works. I don′t know about Nvidia but for ATI it should solve the problem of flickering when catalyst A.I. is turned on with a crossfire system.
Hope this is useful for someone. ;)

/cheers

This is not a propper fix. The scaling still svcks.

I get better fps when I disable crossfire.

i use 2 4870s and get really annoying flickering from light sources. if i v-sync it the light sources pulse rather than flicker but when i go to disable Catalyst AI in the CCC all the flickering is gone and so i disable v-sync cos that didn't fix anything.

I have the same flickering issue with my CrossFire (2 x 5870s) setup. Until there is a fix, I'm running the game in windowed mode, but still with CrossFire enabled, and this is flicker-free. I tried the Bioshock "fix", but it didn't work for me. Hope there will be a fix soon, but anyways, what a great game this is!

Radeon Pro.

I can use both of my 5970s without the slightest flicker using a profile I made.

Takes a minute to D/L and install..set up profile , apply and run and away you go!

The only hitch is you need to start the game in Radeon Pro..but it works fine even on Steam games.

changing sli profile to crysis 1 help stable the framerate somewhat
everyone try using the crysis 1 profile

despite of that kind of problem we are suffering for other severe bug's of VGA overheating, vga in full processing after leave the game, I need to reboot my PC after leave the game, because both of my vga still in 100% of processing...and I saw a lot of artefacts after a long play...

And I am having problems to play online...I receive the message that my serial is in use, I solved and after that my connection was going down after 3 minutes in a MP match, I had to change some network configurations in my router, set a lease IP and insert the IP in DMZ Zone to solve the problem...

I never seen so much problems and details to take care before play a game...

RadeonPro allows to make profiles for specific executable yes, applying "Bioshock" CFX profile under tweaks tab seemed to be a "fix" but (1) doesn't work for everyone (2) even if it works you'll probably suffer some detrimental effects on FPS. And I suppose that also renaming Crysis2.exe into Bioshock.exe is just another way to achieve the same result under CFX configurations (otherwise I call for someone explaining me how the hell just renaming an executable could ever fix a problem like this!!).
As for the "working" profile someone here used for 2xATI5970... Nice to hear but please, post something more detailed cuz' just telling "it works" won't help anyone here won't it? As an example I made a working profile too with RadeonPro, setting MVPU mode under CFX Tweaks on "Turn off" but hey this could not be called a fix!

And as for admins keeping silence beacause customers are somehow angry here... Meh I'm pretty sure I would not be scared of this being called "admin". And by the way I think it would be nice and correct at least to tell us even if there is no esteemed time for incoming fix. Just letting us cook ourselves in our frustration and anger is not nice nor usefull.

New driver (11.3) reduces the flickering somewhat, but it's still there. Profiles for CCC are still version 11.2 though. Maybe new profiles will fix something. Since Crytek is nowhere to be found..

Let me guess, it's fixed for GeForce owners?

The flickering on my Radeon's is driving me mad, and a single 5770 can't quite pull off smooth frame rates at 1920 x 1200...

I'm getting flickering on my GTX260 cards.

It can be alleviated somewhat with various settings in autoexec.cfg but hopefully a patch from nvidia or crytek will put it to bed entirely.

Find the file called "system.cfg"and add this to it. You can find the tweaks by looking at this post:
http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=33008

It makes a autoexec.cfg file and CUT and paste into system.cfg and at least for the AMD/ATi cards it works;

Btw, I used RadeonPro with only the Bioshock profile-trick (I have the 5970, running in x-fire), and it worked. Until today, when it all of a sudden is back to massive flickering. I have changed nothing from yesterday, and still the problem comes back?

I used RadeonPro till yesterday, and I was tweaking arround and add them into system.cfg. You only have to add them and if you see tiny flickering(lines) just adjust brightness and Apply and done.

Forget RadeonPro and use that. Helped several people to help them and all succeeded and works great. My system and settings is set to "2" and not "3" (had 30 FPS with 3). Drop a line here if you need help or by PM if you have XFire.

PS: Do not only use: r_MultiGPU=1 , that will not work.

But this will cut it down to one gpu, and lesser gfx-settings, am I right? If that's the case I'd rather wait till there's an official fix so I can play with everything maxed out AND use my comps full potential. Will try some of the stuff though, be back if I noticed any difference. And thanks for the effort. :)

@bergenwall, with all respect :) MultiGPU = Multi so try 5 videocards and it's still MultiGPU :)
0 = disabled
1 = enabled.

@sTr0k3r, thanks for the info as I was using 11.4 preview driver(nothing to do with the trick above though).

100 FPS with 2 480s? Nead some tweaking Bud. Got 2 EVGA 460's KR series. slightly bumped. Q9550/4GB. OC to 3.4 Cruises at that rate. No more than 70 degrees to. 400 beaners for both cards.. Only 3yr warranty and 2-way SLI. But hey they ripped us off with DX!!. Try BulletStorm. It blazes. Way out there to
