Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:43 pm

The point is:

EA / Crytek are not even saying anything about this problem.

AMD/nVIDIA at least are giving answers and possible solutions.

It's a shame.

Yeah, it's in the official PC issues thread, so I guess they work on a fix or at least are in contact with AMD/nVidia to resolve this.

I do not want to tell anyone how to do their job , but Crytek better make a normal fix by themselves, they must not shift their work to Nvidia or ATI.

How did i get svckered into to responding to this....

I would recommend someone use a newer driver because it is improved over the older driver (herp derp)? You realize that WHQL drivers have to go through a lengthy testing process by microsoft before they will approve them. So when you see these "new" drivers on AMD's site they weren't just created that day.

I'm sorry did you recommend they use 11.3 and i embarrassed you by recommending 11.4?

I see people in here expecting to see results from 11.3 drivers like they will somehow have a fix that the 11.4's don't have. Sure if you want stability go with the 11.3, if you want the latest attempts at performance use the beta/hotfix/preview drivers.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about and I'm sure calling me 'dumb' really adds to credibility.

But hey don't take my word for it, take the word from the guy who works on the drivers;

Yes - the Catalyst 11.4 file from March 23 is the newest file, and I highly recommend using that driver. - http://twitter.com/catalystcreator

Yes indeed, the 11.4 is newer than the 11.3. There is no 'implication' and who said otherwise? Frankly I don't know what you're arguing and apparently you don't either. I 'think' you meant to say is the 11.4 obviously being newer than the 11.3 'might' fix the issue. Consequences will never be the same! LOL Relax, your post was just mildly amusing

This is insane.. not only is the game consolifized and dumbed down to hit the "low-end" demographics of Console players.

I saw online now that people actually made a custom Graphic option window to edit the ini files becouse the ingame settings are like 3 settings.

What the hell ? Crysis was like the top of the hill in graphics!! we used crysis 1 for benchmarks... look at Crysis 2 damn it!

fix the damn crossfire please.. this is stupid.. and fire somebody !

I just finished building my Tri-SLI system, and to find out that when I use my 3 cards the damn game wont run right lol. Crytech is going to have a hard time selling me another game any time soon, and if they want to they better starting fixing this mess and not ditch this game like the did the first for the second Crysis lol.

I hate this game!!! They really let me and others down with the pc version. To add to what other people have said about the game design having been 'dumbed down' to support the consoles - I've played the PS3 version of the game, and the frame rate is terrible, scenery pops in and out a lot, and the game completely pauses quite often. So, they've created a game that doesn't run well (or at all) on 2 out of the 3 platforms supporter (I haven't played the xbox version as of yet). Nice one Crytek!

I have got an Alienware M17x r2 with HD5870 x2, and as many of you I have tried every trick and fix possible found here in this forum and all around the web, yet the problem persists. I can only play decently when using the combination RadeonPro + Bioshock profile (that way I can keep crossfire on and get a stable 60fps at 1600*1050 in high setting). However, if I try to increase the resolution, or switch to very high and extreme setting, even though the fps remain around 40/50 I get a very annoying stuttering that makes playing difficult. Of course, not using anything I get higher fps together with the insane flickering. I just tried the new 11.3 CAP 1 profile, which both fixes the flickering and affects negatively the performance - 15/20 less fps.

I admit that it's becoming a bit frustrating. Let's hope Crytek delivers a patch soon.

Peace

Yeah this is just getting old.

I predict by their silence on this issue, they have no Idea WTF is causing so much trouble with some multi-gpu systems and not others.

Yeah, there should be a provision for not locking the game to your account immediately. I'd love to return this so I didn't see it taunting me in my steam list with it's unplayable-ness.

Yes - something changed in the app last minute to cause issues with CF support (Crysis 2 and Shift 2) - hoping for updates next week...

GPU 99% and mouse lag are still being worked on - very hard to repro and root cause, will let everyone know, once we have something concrete

*i'd like to know if by app, he means Crysis 2, and what was it that changed. if i were to guess, AMD and EA/Crytek are not working together.

Nvidia is saying that it's up to EA/Crytek to fix this. They're pretty sure it's not the driver it's the app.

i read that too, and its that "pretty sure", that doesn't make me rest any easier. just the opposite w/o hearing from EA also.

I'm going to assume NV might be right, I mean, the MP demo gave me none of these issues.

WTF. did you just clarify uncertainty with more uncertainty?!

I'm pointing fingers at everyone involved until someone admits it's their fault.
