Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:27 pm

I use a ATI Radeon HD4870X2 the new ati driver didn't killed the flickering but it gave a better performance and i just turned catalyst AI to advanced, either if you turn it off it works, the flickering is away :) (Click on CCC-gaming- 3D application settings- catalyst AI Disable or Advanced) :)

where are you seeing Disable or Advanced? all i see there is a slider (Performance, Quality, High Quality), and a check box to Enable Surface format Optimizations, under Catalyst AI using 11.3 drivers. i havent seen the disable Catalyst AI check box since the Catalyst 10.x drivers.

I just came across a trippy kinda breakthrough.....

Basically I went into the game settings and toggled with the brightness, and in that process the silhouette on the right of the screen that you use to adjust the brightness for in game brightness screen is also flickering, but when you toggle the setting, it stops, and it also stops in game, WITH Crossfire enabled.

Give it a go.

toggling brightness does not work for me, neither doesd changing cat ai. radeon pro works best as the flickering is minimal but still there. Also reasonably good performance on 2 6870's

Okay the flickering issue, ive downloaded the Amd patch for steam users and applied it to a non steam game and ive used radeonpro with custom settings to launch the game it works but the flickering is still visible but when changing the brightnees of the game the flickering disapperes, wtf.

Has anyone tried its really weird in order for the flickering to stop you have to adjust the brightnees, wtf.
And crossfire works, jubiiii

XFX 5970BE

That works with me too, Dual CFX 5770, good performance.

Have you tried the Nano vision mode already? I think so but... I already tested the brightness adjusting "fix" and have sadly seen that the flickering was still very bad activating nano vision mode :-\

No problem with Nano vision.

Anyway, Crytek should make a patch quickly, it's still weird to change the birghtness and the performance, wich is not bad, should be much better, i think.

Crysis 2 PC 1.2.0.0

A new Crysis 2 PC patch is scheduled to go live later today. Below you will find a list of the top fixes.

List of changes
? Further improved anti-cheat measures
? Fix for spurious characters appearing when initiating text chat
? Fix for Chatlog doesn't disappear after kill cam
? Fixed occasional login issues
? Changed VOIP defaults
? Fixed some UI aspect issues on multiple monitors
? Added option for crouch toggle in MP & SP

We’re working hard with our Ranked Server Partners to switch the servers at the same time that the patch goes live – but inevitably this will take time so we ask for your patience. When you launch the game, the patch will auto-download. If you cannot find servers, please exit the game and re-start to ensure the patch has applied.

You can check the version number by selecting Properties on Crysis2.exe and selecting Details. The correct version after patching will be 1.2.0.0, and the executable will be signed by Crytek GmbH.

So nothing in there at all about this issue. I guess they really don't know what's causing it and I can safely uninstall this garbage and seek a refund from steam.

Can't see the flicker issue mentioned in the latest patch (1.2).

It would be helpful if they would confirm if it's a driver issue or not.

PATCH 1.2.0 FOR PC IS PATHETIC AT BEST. COMPARE IT TO WHAT THE XBOX AND PS3 GOT.

CRYTEK GAMES NO LONGER BELONG ON THE PC. CONSOLES CAN HAVE EM. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE TECH NEWS HEADLINES AFTER THIS GETS OUT. ITS GONNA BE A BLOOD BATH!

Well, I feel bent over and violated. No lube either.

Thanks for screwing over your most loyal fans from your first 2 games, the PC enthusiasts. We're the ones who bought Far Cry and Crysis so you could even make this pathetic excuse for a sequel... and now we can't even play it??

Sharing the feeling here... I have not been able to play this game since launch.. Would love to you know be able to play it. I mean it does look fun :) and I am sure I would really enjoy it if it weren't for the insane foam around the mouth inducing flickering :)

Please tell me dear crysis people that you have fixed it in this patch but forgot to write it in the change log? Or maybe I don't know tell us what the status is?

I'm not sure why, but this worked for me. I have 2 GTX260's Core 216 OC'ed in SLI. Game was unplayable in SLI cause the framerate was 10-15fps with it on (never saw any flickering). Got the SLI enhance patch, and it jumped to 20-25fps, better but not good enough. So I uninstalled both the cards and drivers. Physically took them out of my computer, air dusted the crap out of them, put em back in and did a clean install on the drivers and then the SLI enhancement patch. Left all of the nvidia control panel settings at default and played the game. Extreme Settings at 1920x1080 now I'm getting a steady 60fps. both of the cards are being used 100% on my GPU usage under the EVGA precision. It plays great now and the cards dont go above 70C which is pretty good for the older GTX series.

So Cry-Adam was kind enough to issue me a Warning in my PM's about my excessive posting on this issue.

So the PM's with my technical specs I sent detailing and showing videos of this issue in hopes they can fix it don't warrant any response, but flood-post one time and I get a warning 15 minutes later.. Glad they're on top of things here.

Your issue was misconfigured drivers or something. nothing to do with what we're discussing here.

Does anything else need to be said, really? Be thankful a warning was all you got. Just because your PM's aren't responded to doesn't mean the information isn't forwarded on. A bit of maturity would be appreciated.
