Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Ya i know it seems weird but I seriously stopped playing the game right up the part when you make it into the city because the flickering out doors was insane. After installing CAP2 it went away.. I don't know how, but it did

How about your performance ? Did you notice any difference in performance after installing CAP2 ?

Some reported crossfire flickering fix after installing CAP 1 but a decrease in multi gpu scaling.

Because it's the game that's broken. It's not our PC's or our Driver's fault. 100% of my games work properly and this one is flicker-madness.

I have SLI 480's , installed latest Nvidia Beta driver for Win 7 x64 = NO flickering in SLI - THEN I installed that program that gives you all the advanced graphics options & set it all to HIGH = that made really BAD FLICKERING ! SO very pissed off , I went thru each setting until I found what turned ON & OFF the flickering.....

it was the Anti-Aliasing settings... especially the MSAA ones. I turned OFF MSAA completely , then turned up Edge AA to #2 and all is great w/ NO FLICKERING !

18 days and counting. You'd think an update by crytek on this issue is due. Been already told off for not "being patient" or for porting new threads (due to no official reaction to THIS thread)
For the (old and broken) record

HD5970 card
- tried with the following drivers: 10.1 - 11.1 - 11.2 - 11.3 - 11.4 preview
- tried the above drivers with all the CAPs released in the last 3 weeks
- tried renaming crysis2.exe to fear.exe; bioshock.exe etc..
- tried the advanced GFX settings 3rd party program found in these forums
- tried adjusting brightness in-game
- tried importing the original crysis2.exe from the retail CD and import into the 32bin folder
- tried unpatched
- tried patched to 1.1
- tried pathced 1.2
- I have tried twice to contact EA Live Support, was told this is an unknown issue

and NOTHING fixed the flickering for me. the ONLY way I can get rid of flickering is by running windowed or disabling AI (and thus xfire) which results in a very fuzzy, "bloomy" looking game.

quit shovin' this one under the carpet.

Crytek confirms it's working on a DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2 Crytek has posted that, yes, the team is currently working on a DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2. There are no details yet on when to expect it or what exactly it will do (early rumors of the patch, debunked by Crytek, suggested it would unlock an advanced graphics mode), but of course it will enable DirectX 11 compatibility for the game. Crytek says it wants to "get the best out of DX11." Joystiq

Performance is the same, it hasn't suffered at all. I don't understand why my flickering is gone. I keep hearing it has nothing to do with CAP2, its just strange how it stopped right after I loaded it.

Crosshair IV with 8 gig running at 3.9ghz and Windows 7 64bit
Video is Sapphire Eyefinity 5870 2gig in Trifire. Latest updates from Windows and have used ATI's 11.1 and 11.2 drivers. Oh, and have all of the updates for Crysis 2 ver 1.2 and the auto updates are working fine. Current video driver is 11.4 for the 6990 (which does work for the 5870 cards). Resolution is 2560 X 1600 and was set for Extreme in game. Today it locked up on me when there was a lot of explosions. Back the settings back down to Very High.

At times I have noticed some video flickering, but only after I have Alt-Tab and then came back into the game. I did notice this in the other versions of drivers, (11.1 - 11.4). Only when I Alt-Tab and then come back is when I see the flicker of the video.

So far everything has been running great! I did notice that I dropped sound yesterday. I paused the game and came back after 1 hour. Sound was gone. Exited and restarted the game and sound came back. Oh, yes I am using Cap2 for the 11.3 drivers, but like I said, only when I Alt-Tab out is when the flickering comes up. Hope this helps.

If I have to read about Driver Profiles or any of the retarded workarounds I've read 50 times already yet again I'm going to go insane. None of this **** fixes the issue. Crytek can fix the code in their game.

This is the ONLY game of 120+ in my steam library that doesn't work properly with my Set-up. I'm pretty sure it's not drivers FFS.

Funny video.

What happened to this "close relationship" with your "friends" Nvidia? Couldn't be bothered to make sure your game works properly this time around since you're targeting console market anyhow?

wtf does DX11 support have to do with dual GPU card support?

the two are different things.

Hi there, thanks for posting the vid in the OP, it's handy to have that kind of information.

We are aware of this issue and are working towards resolving it ASAP so that you can enjoy the huge SLI frame rates!

Yeah , we saw this posted weeks ago. We're just wondering if they've actually identified the issue and have a fix in the works. No other info has come from Crytek except that they know we're flickering.

I'm on day 20 with the game and still unable to play.
