Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 7:59 am

How in the holy **** is there still not a fix for this multi gpu issue? Something even more disturbing is the lack of information EA and Cytec have released regarding the issue - Someone needs to hit these mother ******* with a Class Action Law Suit. False Advertising - Baiting - Lemon Product .... the **** list is long.

Crytec at least have someone keeping your customers who, at this point have wasted their money, up to date with information. This Stone walling from you and EA is disgusting. I use to be a big fan........

I got this on release day and I refuse to play it in its broken state. Besides that, I don't want to induce a migrane headache with all of that horrible flickering!

18 days and counting. You'd think an update by crytek on this issue is due. Been already told off for not "being patient" or for porting new threads (due to no official reaction to THIS thread)
For the (old and broken) record

HD5970 card
- tried with the following drivers: 10.1 - 11.1 - 11.2 - 11.3 - 11.4 preview
- tried the above drivers with all the CAPs released in the last 3 weeks
- tried renaming crysis2.exe to fear.exe; bioshock.exe etc..
- tried the advanced GFX settings 3rd party program found in these forums
- tried adjusting brightness in-game
- tried importing the original crysis2.exe from the retail CD and import into the 32bin folder
- tried unpatched
- tried patched to 1.1
- tried pathced 1.2
- I have tried twice to contact EA Live Support, was told this is an unknown issue

and NOTHING fixed the flickering for me. the ONLY way I can get rid of flickering is by running windowed or disabling AI (and thus xfire) which results in a very fuzzy, "bloomy" looking game.

quit shovin' this one under the carpet.

AMEN! I'm in the EXACT same situation as you are mate! Crytek drilled us pc gamers right in *** with this one

Hi there, thanks for posting the vid in the OP, it's handy to have that kind of information.

We are aware of this issue and are working towards resolving it ASAP so that you can enjoy the huge SLI frame rates!

jurassic1024 quit trolling and posting stuff thats not relevant to this issue

That post from Cry-adam is dated 24 March 2010, its the 12th of april today and since that post they haven't posted anything official about a fix or update about the multi GPU flicker issue.

Your post about the DX11 patch has nothing to do with this issue; how is multi gpu support in any way related to DX11 support? just reposting the same thing over like a fanboi parrot doesn't mean you're right

THERE IS NO FLICKERING FIX! Get over it. And people are still coming here to THIS THREAD wondering about DX11, so that's why i posted the update on it here when i found it.

No other info has come from Crytek except that they know we're flickering.

i posted it in response to people saying no one has acknowledged the issue... when they have.

Ahh ok guys, guess there is no fix. We should all just leave it alone and get over it. Don't worry about your $60. Lucky for us Jurassic1024 has nominated himself official messenger for Crytek.

To Summarise we should all "get over it" and stop badgering a company to fix a game so we can actually play. Hell, it's only OUR money.

I'll get over it when they fix it. Until then I'll keep posting in this thread about this issue that prevents me from playing this game, regardless of what you think I should be doing.

my bad, i'm new to forums. i went thru my rage stage here pages ago. i'm pissed too, but its not like we're offering anything that hasn't been said days ago. i'm referring to people still trying the renaming, sys editing, different CAPs and drivers etc. Crytek fuucked up big time, and Mr. Yerli is probably gonna cry piracy again when sales aren't what they were expecting. i bought the game on release day. luckily for me, the game runs fine on one HD 6950, but i won't touch multiplayer again until the flickering is fixed, and i won't play single player until the AI gets fixed. you'd think since they didnt have DX11 to worry about, they could of got the rest right. if i worked for Crytek, i'd be really embarrassed about this.

The game has a few issues, yes. But let's keep a few things in mind; ALL games are released with a few problems these days (name one major title that NEVER needed a patch?), the problems with this game doesn't stop you from enjoying it-if you are willing to do the temporary 'fixes' and lastly; this is an insanely awesome accomplishment for these devs, giving that it's their first release on multiple platforms!

How about Crytec actually give it's customers who feel completely ripped off some answers. This is a perfect example of HOW NOT TO RUN A COMPANY!

1- Yes, all games are released with a few problems. But usually not the ones that make them unplayable.
2- Actually, yes, the problems stop me from enjoying it, despite the temporary fixes.

It's just ... the lack of official updates or even just a reassurance that they are still working on this issue that does my head in. Every day since I bought the game on march 24 I check these forums for an update.

I mean, nothing official that I have seen (and please DO link to prove me wrong) states that the _next_ patch will address this issue. Will it? Won't it? who knows? or is the so-called "DX11 patch" the miracle cure for this issue? who knows? I daresay 50% of this forum is duplicate threads that people start coz we're all fumbling in the dark.

I hate forums. I'm usually never on any forum. Make me go away. Please Crytek tell me it's being worked on and I'll dissapear, I promise.

ah who am I kidding ey

All I want is to hear that "Hey guys, we know that you're having problems and we're working on it". Don't just tell me that once and dissapear. It's not fair to people who paid their hard earned money.

Exactly right. For a supposed AAA game, Crytek's CS really svcks. It's not like they didn't know that they were releasing a brick. That being true they SHOULD have been prepared to fix bugs very quickly, and that there would be a lot of pissed off people.

Jesus, not one of the rigs they used for play testing had SLI/Crossfire???

yeah lol what the hell, no sli or crossfire in the company??

what the hell is going on? why limited options for tweaking? or restrict console commands? ... what the hell are they thinking??

Still suffering from the SLI flickering. Please fix this in the next patch. I pre-ordered and have been waiting for a patch as it's unplayable with this issue.

Alright in my Case, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjpN5HoX8xA )

What I have gotten to fix this was disabling (in device manager) my 4th physX GPU. That by itself wasn't a total fix, as there was still some flickering in puddles and some massive FPS dips/mouselag near soem light sources.
This second problem was fixed by using SLI compatibility bits of 0x42506405 in nvidia inspector under crysis2 profile. (thanks Blaire from nvidia forums)

Image

Now my game seems to be running well finally, 120 FPS and no random slowdowns, flicker, or glitchy motion-blur!

Will keep playing to make sure, hope this info helps you somehow crytek :)

Update from @CatalystCreator:

'New CAP later this week will have improved profile for Crysis 2; hoping for Test Drive 2 as well.'

Hopefully, this will fix the flicker issue with proper performance.

I just tried PLG23's trick with nvidia inspector using the compatibility bits and it has fixed the flicker issue for me. Thanks for the post

Ok tried it seemed to work but the only reason i didnt have flickering was cause it was using only one GPU.. well guess its back to the flicker stage
