Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Well crap. This is a random one isn't it?

Disabling your PhysX card in device manager too? Too bad, this worked for a few of us over at the NVidia forms was hoping you'd benefit too.

Hopefully this info will help.

I have an M17x AW laptop running GTX260M SLI, 4G and 2.8ghz Intel core 2 duo. Everything runs great with fantastic FPS at 1920X1200p - Very High graphics but the flickering is horrible. There's two scenrios that occur for me (one worse then the other).

The first which gives me really bad flickering throughout the whole game is when I enable my Hybrid graphics card (integrated) that Alienware offers.
When I have Hybrid off and am only running on my 260s everything is the same but the flickering only occurs in darker areas/levels when there's more lights/reflections etc. In this case there will be a short burst of low FPS, the flickering starts and when I leave those areas/levels it goes away. Still absolutely annoying and horrible to play with.

In both cases certain things won't appear in the game. For instance during certain cinematic clips (in game) when ships fly by or something crumbles, sometimes there will only be one ship instead of three or none at all but sometimes all three. Not sure if these are connected but thought i'd mention it.

I've tried other fixes and the only thing that really solves the issue is turning off SLI and running on one card but...that's makes me extremely unhappy.

I'm running with the Nvidia beta driver 267.24 with the updated C2 profile.

11.3 cap3 fixed the problem for me. Game runs great now in crossfire. Was hoping for a little higher frame rates though. Getting 30-60 with 2x 5770's and phenom 2 x4.

Have you guys tried setting a max framerate through sys_maxFPS? I don't have a SLI setup, but I was experiencing a similar sort of flickering with my single GTX580 and found that the only way to resolve it was to set sys_maxFPS to 30. It's not ideal, but it made the game playable again for me.

it was the Anti-Aliasing settings... especially the MSAA ones. I turned OFF MSAA completely , then turned up Edge AA to #2 and all is great w/ NO FLICKERING ! Thanks for posting this. This kind of information helps us narrow down the cause of the issue and hopefully come up with a full fix.

What else can we do to help?

Will we get a rebate for helping Crytek DO THEIR JOBS?!?!?

My workaround isn't perfect, I've seen a few odd flickers here and there, but nothing on the scale it was before...and it seems that MSAA might not be working now with this new SLI bits I added to the driver profile...
i'd give my experience an 85% score visually now. Still hoping for an app or driver fix that renders the workaround unneeded.

So it's mostly good once I added the SLI bits 0x42506405 in nvidia inspector and disabled my PhysX card. But there's still the odd glitch. Recorded a few of them.

Weirdness here...

Since the first patch I've had to use Radeon Pro to get rid of flickering ( 2x 5970s )

Reading these last few pages and seeing the new Cap..I decided to try it out. Started the mission over where you first go outside in daylight ( opening the door )....expecting the infamous flickering. Dreading the strobe light in fact..

Not there..not a flicker.

So the new Cap works for me...just waiting for the DX 11 patch now.

I just updated the Cap..still using 10.2 drivers.

Crysis 2 CF scaling in new CAP depends on settings - at 2560x1600 we're seeing almost double; at 1024x768 it's much lower (nil in outdoor)

It simply shuts off CF for Shift 2 - also please note you need to reboot after CAP is installed to enable the latest profiles

Any app that you see flickering in with CF is because the app doesn't work well with AFR - Shift 2, Crysis 2 for example - higher performance is possible today with a different profile, but causes flickering

5970s still getting some love...because it worked for me too.

Rocking 2 x 5970s OC HDs and not a flicker in sight.

And like you I'm waiting for DX 11 to start playing again.

Just got home and tried the new CAP with 11.3 and 11.4 preview drivers. Performance is absolute garbage, i went from 32 to 36 FPS with 1 card vs 2. I am never buying xfire again, this is the second time they have blatantly lied about fixing the issue. 3 weeks and counting on the biggest pc release so far this year...**** ATI and **** Crytek

Well, this fixed the flickering issue for me (11.3 cap3) but I'm getting lower fps in xfire than with 1 card and it's all stuttery and not smooth at all. I think this game is a lost cause.

I can confirm 11.3 CAP 3 fixed my crossfire flickering but the scaling is awful .

I get 50-60 FPS with Radeon PRO, forced FEAR profile.

I get 30-40 FPS with CAP3.

It's like crossfire is disabled when using CAP 3. I have checked GPU activity and it's the same amount of load on both GPU's, so they are working properly except the performance.

It stopped the flickering, but it killed my FPS by 20, from 60FPS to 40FPS using a pair of 4890s in Xfire.

I think I'm just going to uninstall this load of c!@$ and go back to playing Black Ops.
