Crysis 2 Multi GPU support causes insane flickering.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 3:34 pm

I am averaging 50-60 FPS with one GPU, but hey I paid for two so I would like to be able to use both.

I remember getting SLI to work on the demo with the SLI config Nvidia released, but unfortunately the game flickered so badly that It was going to give me a seisure If I had played it for more then five minutes.

After the demo patch came out, the flickering stopped, but the SLI broke again.

I am getting 55-60 FPS on my one GTX480 which isn't bad at all, but I want both to work. If I turn Vsync on, then I lose the flickering but gain ghosting that overlaps my previous image with my current one.

I have tried every driver, SLI config and the EVGA SLI enhancer and nothing seems to fix this issue.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Here is a vid of how bad my flickering is.

Update. Flickering fixed

Hey guys I just wanted to give you a heads up that my flickering has been fixed thanks to a few people from gamesas.

Here is a link to the fix that worked for me. Thanks for the help.

http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=13689

100+ FPS with zero flickering. SLI enabled and both GPU's 100% in use.

This might not work for everyone, but recommend trying it. Worst that can happen is you will have wasted a few minutes of your time.

I'm also getting crazy flicker with CrossFireX enabled, so it's not just an nVidia issue

I was really hoping that this was going to be fixed by the time it launched, but It looks like only Nvidia and AMD can fix this with driver updates. REAL ONES. I have tried the current ones that support Crysis 2 and I would prefer not to die of a stroke thank you very much.

Has anyone tried starting the game with the r_multigpu command line? or could we make autoexec.cfg for it?

Seems to be due to the locked config file.

Got the same issue with CFX 4870's. This is really pathetic. A patch to fix this problem should have been out within an hour of release.

I just payed $60 for a game I can't even play! I've had it up to my eyeballs with Crytek.

GUYS......

These are all Driver and SLI/Crossfire profile issues which are the responsibility of the Graphics card manufacturers to resolve by updating their profiles now that the game has released, I hope other people can point you to the right direction but complaining about this like its a game issue when its clearly not is pointless...set up an account at your graphics card manufacturers forums if you want better assistance because the ball is in NVIDIA and AMD's court to resolve these issues, not Crytek or EA...a game patch has nothing to do with crossfire or sli.

That GIANT NVIDIA logo that spams my screen everytime I turn Crysis 2 should have dealt with issues like this.

EVGA did some great job releasing their own sli profile. unfortunately I have 2xHD5850 and crossfire still doesn't work as it should be ( also no real multi gpu support in the game ).
cheers, Hoshi

Question for AMD Radeon CF users:

Did you, or did you not, download and install CAP4 which was released today, which includes a CF profile for Crysis 2??
http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx (Win 7 64bit version)

In the demo, CF didn't work for me. Both cards showed usage but the FPS didn't change with 1 or 2 cards. So, I don't have the retail game yet (going to wait a bit what with all these issues I read about) but I need to know if you guys have even tried to get the proper CAP.

Crossfire 5850 with 11.2 drivers and the latest crossfire profiles you linked. It did not help the flickering at all for me.

Yeah I tried it with CAP4, still flickering.. Sounds more like a game issue to me if the Crossfire profile did nothing.

Crossfire 5770 problems here. Apparently no multi-gpu support, and no dx10/11? As I said elsewhere, ****. YOU. Crytek.
