Crysis MULTIPLAYER and Wars weird weird FPS drop

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:19 pm

Hey everyone - I'm not sure how to solve this issue.

I can play Crysis on pretty much Very High @1920x1080 - yes my poor 6870 can't handle more :s - and pretty much the same for Crysis Warhead (except Gamer settings instead of V.High).

However when i turn to play MP on C1 or Wars it just laggs like there's no tomorrow! I tried turning everything to "ultra low ugly looking" mode and STILL i get **** FPS....

BTW - C2 runs at about 70FPS for me with my GPU and screen >.>

Are you on the latest drivers? I've never heard of this before.

Wow, this is weird.

I'm thinking it could be a processing problem of handling 32 players which the Singleplayer doesn't need to do, if you could list your specs that would help. :)

Are you playing on local servers? What is your ping? Do you have vsync enabled?

Have you tried running in DX9 mode? Are you using the x86 or x64 executable?

Answer please. :)

Had this problem on my 8600gt. Could play sp at medium while multiplayer was unplayble even at the lowest settings, as low as it could get... No clue why this happened. I can play it fine now on my EAH 4890 on max without any problems on sp or mp.

If you right click on the shortcut it gives you the option to run in DX9, it usually gives a sizeable framerate boost and DX10 is rather useless in multiplayer unless you can stabily max out the game which in your case, you can't. :D

Also make sure you have VSync turned off, that tends to have weird issues sometimes and is more trouble than it's worth.

this is what i use - dont know if it works

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe" -dx9

try using the 32 bit exe
the -dx9 is correct
to check if you really did run dx9, just tab out, it should be included in the caption name of crysis

Hmm, pull down your console while in game by hitting your ~ key, and type in r_displayinfo 1 to show your FPS. You may be mistaking lag with fps drop.

When your on a server with a lot of people, it can get kind of laggy at times. And I think MP is more intense on the machine than single player. But I play on a cheap laptop at 800x480 and all low and still get 25 - 40 fps on Mesa with 30 something people playing.

Crysis has its problems with netcode as well. It takes a lot to sync that many people with varying pings. Its not going to be perfect.

Still, I think Crytek needs to work on their netcode. C2 seems worse in this department compared to C1 and Wars.

Try switching off other programs when you play on servers with lot's of players. It's not only C2, not only Wars, almost every online game laggs when many players are online.
