Crysis 2 multiplayer isnt all that fun.

Post » Tue Jul 07, 2009 3:30 am

I really like the Crysis 2 single player story and the graphics are great even though the xbox verison sufffers from major pop in, screen tearing, loading enviroment issues but the online play is a completely different story.

For me the online just completely svcks, I dont know if its just balancing issues or what, but its just not fun. My main complaint is for one the maps are to big for just 6v6. If i remeber right in the demo, it was 8v8 . The nano suit kind isnt fun to use because it gives people way to much of a advantage and just makes thing frusterrating and boring. I dunno, what do you guys think? I think it would be alright if the player count was higher and fixed the nano suit things might be ok but the online play just isnt fun.

To be honest, I like the game, I like it a lot. I wish my computer could run it so I could have the dedicated servers though. I'm really disappointed in that PC users got dedicated servers but we did not. The downfall is that we have terrible connection issues, the hitboxes are atrocious, the melee system is completely broken. You don't even need to aim to kill someone instead you just ADS and spray and you can kill pretty much anyone. The last thing is that, i'm not sure what's going on, but my killcam deaths always show someone hitting me once or twice and me dying while I put a clip into their head/chest and they failed to die. The same with me dying from 1 melee hit with armor on, it just doesn't make any sense. How could 2 hits from melee be stronger than my entire clip into them, I really hope they fix this game. If they do, it will be a good game.

It takes little skill, and has really bad latency issues that makes Spraying more effective than precision.

I really like the multiplayer. I guess it's not for everyone, but it sure is pretty good fun, IMO.

Dedicated servers and peer to peer hosting has the same properties. You're further away from the host than your killer... It still explains the situation.

Just being further away would not be the cause of the issue

The further away you are from the host's system, the longer it takes to receive your packets and the greater likely hood of packet loss. Now, there are other variables such as quality of connection (both yours and the hosts)... Distance is not the deciding factor, but it can affect the game.

If your opponents packets are received earlier than yours, they are more than likely registered first, resulting in your death.

I'm claiming no expertise here... If I am spouting ****, feel free to throw it back in my face. This is just the information as I understand it.

I mean, even if I was outpinged, I don't really understand how the connection is bad. My ping to eastern servers on CS and WoW was around 60 ms and i'm in Nevada. In cod, I have almost no issue with connection or in halo, or in bad company or even in Super Street Fighter 4. I love this game but it really pisses me off how such a basic thing as connection can destroy my gameplay. I mean the host lived in the Mid US and I had red bars with everyone else and only he had green bars. Make sense to pick him as host? I think not.

I've wondered if it's simply not because this game doesn't really have the enormous player base than Halo/CoD have, so the host selection pool is much smaller...

That and I've heard that Crytek is a UK company, so maybe the lobbies are hosted over there then redirected to whoever the host is? (Probably not an issue, but just a curiosity).

They are located in Germany. Picking host should not be influenced by your location. If you are a bad host you are a bad host end of story.

I'm really enjoying this game. It's probably one of the better FPS games with emphasis on pure Infantry combat in a long time. I think the problem is that all of this high-tech stuff makes everyone believe they should be the best thing ever, and they forget that there are thousands of others out there who expect the same thing.

I enjoy the gameplay: it's fast, frantic, and requires more tactical thought than most games (see, using a car to kill a Defender, taking out there other guy with a pistol, and letting your teammate save you with a stealth kill).

Most of us are CoD-bred so we throw teamwork out the window; Crysis, like Battlefield, demands it.

I should have guessed Germany... They doing the stereotypical 'attacking enemies on both fronts' by implementing features from both Halo and CoD... Let's just hope it works out better than it did with the Allies and Russia :/

(I kid).

This game would be absolutely the BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTER EVER IFFFFFFFFFFF it had dedicated servers and placed everyone on an even playing field... I sure wish they would of really spent more time doing the research on what made call of duty so damn good.... Its frustrating when you know you just head shotted someone and boom your dead because of the latency! VERY FRUSTRATING! Mine will most likely be up for sale as a used game at gamestop.... It's sad!

What Call of Duty did good? They made the first Modern Warfare (CoD 4)... That's about where it stopped.

I love the multiplayer. Even though there are problems with it i still enjoy it. I think if Crytek are willing to fix the problems in future patches it would be much more enjoyable.

Multiplayer is great, very fast paced, quick games, the game takes actual teamwork. I noticed really fast that you can't just go out in the map and raqe face like in CoD, this game takes actual teamwork an tactics thats what makes it so interesting and exciting. Separates the good from the bad easily, you have to actually have precise shots in order to kill. The gametypes are fun and fast games can be finished in 3-5min. Can we get a 8v8 gametype someday though? That would be great.
