You can look up port forwarding on youtube and follow the directions. Or you can plug your PS3 directly into the modem (not the router).

NAT Type 2 (moderate) doesn't hinder your gaming or invite lag. It just means you can only talk to NAT type 1 (open) and NAT type 2 (moderate). You would be restricted from NAT type 3 (strict) players. This is their problem, not yours. I use UPnP enabled on my router and have a moderate NAT 2 on Crysis 3 (it says "open" on CoD games). I have no issues. In reality, the game developers should ban NAT3 users. They can ONLY connect to NAT 1 (open) players. They should be turned away at the login screen. Just say "fix your NAT" and kick them.

Again NAT Type HAS NO AFFECT ON LAG! It is strictly a way to let player's firewalls understand who they are allowed to talk to.

Just use UPnP and the game will ask for ports it wants and the router will open those ports. Port forwarding does this the hard way.

Hope this helps.

NAT 1 is totally open. You could connect to anyone in any game. NAT 2 allows you to connect to anyone NAT 2 or NAT 1. But NAT1 across everything in your home network is dangerous. It allows anoyone access you your devices in the network. This is why most people just enable UPnP or put their console in the DMZ with a static IP. You wouldn't want your PC to be NAT1.

Go into your router setting on a PC/laptop connected to the router. Typically it needs a login and password. Then go to the settings and enable UPnP. Or do the more advanced setup according to portforwarding.net or any of the numerous youtube videos describing port forwarding.
