Crysis 2 Pinger

Dear noobs,

Stop playing on Easy-mode. Pingers do not die easily on Post-Human Warrior

<3

Its funny you call people noobs and then imply that PHW is actually difficult.

I insta-killed the first pinger you meet in under 10 seconds on PHW... It's not exactly hard =/

You're right, the first Pinger isn't exactly hard. The third Pinger is exactly hard.

Still not hard... just hide somewhere for a while untill he decides to look away, cloak, shoot him in the back, repeate (I think this is the one you're talking about).

The third Pinger is the one that immediately kills off all your Marine support and then goes after you while Ceph grunts continuously spawn from 2 different points at the Eastern extremity of the map. Playing on PHW, his lazor-beam destroys your Armor (with deflection) in about 1 second. Unarmored, it takes one more shot to kill you.

Cloaking/cowering in a corner until he turns around isn't as effective with this guy because the Ceph grunts are constantly hunting you and if they run into you cloaked, they bounce you on your ass and the Pinger shoots you while you're down.

I mean, "hard" is relative, but this fight is probably the hardest fight in the game. It took me 4 or 5 times to get it down.

Not to mention that it's not even possible to "insta-kill" a Pinger on PHW. You need at least 3 or 4 C4's and that's if you place them right up his taint and good luck doing that 3-4 times without getting lazor-beamed at least once.

A pinger only takes 3 JAWs to its back to kill it... If you aren't aware that you have to shoot its back - yes they're hard to kill. If you do know - not so much.

All of the Pinger fight areas have at least one of the detachable heavy machine guns (can't recall the correct name at the moment, though). The street square (first Pinger) has one in the trench across the square from the diner you first run in to; the Grand Central Pinger fight has the detachable guns at the entrance to the terminal; the Times Square fight (if I recall the setting correctly - sorry if I haven't) has the detachable gun at the far end of the area up on a scaffold (one of the tactical assessment points).

Pingers are easy to kill with them...just man them, detach the gun, cloak, maneuver to a good area for quick cover and flanking, armor up, fire til your armor drains, take cover while you regenerate....repeat til it dies. Each of them die before the gun reaches the bottom of its clip. It eliminates the need to keep searching for more JAWs and is much quicker too. Done only on PHW by the way, didn't bother with the other difficulties.

Also it doesn't appear to matter whether you actually flank the Pinger or not with this method - the gun has enough power to kill it head on.

Just a quick question that isn't really related. Are any of you upset that ther wasn't an enemy bigger than the Pinger?
lol yea
like a hunter or the mothership in crysis 1

Yeah, I was hoping for something substantially bigger, like a Mega Pinger :D

I find sad that they replaced the awesomeness that was the Hunter with a poor metal gears solid ripoff that is the pinger :( .

Well it may not be the biggest but when you're covering the VTOL extraction, when THAT pinger comes along and you've got bugger all ammo left...THEN it becomes an enemy to be reckoned with...

I nearly quit the game because of the pinger fights. The last one is so unbelievably tedious that it must not have been playtested even once. No developer in their right mind would leave something like that in the game after playing it.

I did it for the first one in the station, when the pinger starts comming in go into the room at the bacl (front?) next to the big window where he came through, get your C4 out and throw it all onto him, then detonate it and you're done. I did only realise this after 2-3 trys though, I blew myself up with the swarmer a few times xD

Yes. I wouldn't have minded it, if there would have been a boss in Crysis 2.
The Hunter is much more awesome then the Pinger could ever hope to be.

lol its probably not that simple... remember they also have the little other aliens comin at you in the 2 and 3 ones... and if you play it on PHW thenright as you fire, ur gonna have to get the hell out of there..
not so easy :/

I personally was VERY disappointed with the Pinger. The very first one you encounter was SO easy. All I did was run right up to it and start shooting its generator and nimbly outran its massive legs. It was a cake walk!

I'm reasonably sure it's four JAW hits on Veteran. And really, the difficulty with the Pingers comes more from the progressively more "inconvenient" environments they're put in. I believe that's called "good level design".

Not to mention the pinger has back-up during subsequent encounters.

I was a little disappointed that, in a Billion years, the only difference in the current aliens is that they are red, and can walk. =/

A hunter would have been REALLY fun to fight in this game, and even more awesome to watch walking down the city streets. =3
