Crysis 2 Pinger

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:05 pm

hard to kill? seriously. half an HMG magazine kills them. if done right, the Pinger can be killed in under 30 seconds.
Yeah, but what difficulty are you playing on? I dont care what you say but the pingers are difficult on supersoldier. There is absoloutely no way they can be killed in under 30 seconds so stop being cocky when we all know there is no way they can be killed that quickly on supersoldier.

it's ok will relax

these things happen on all forums....there are people who say "ZOMG the game is stupidly easy, I finished it on ultra super impossible nightmare mode in under4 hours without dying once"

hell there is this guy on the ME2 boards who says Bioware should not allow people to use a "save game" feature and each death should force you to re-start the whole game in order to make ME2 on insanity a challenge otherwise it's just a walk in the park....he also believes he is the only true gamer (along maybe another 10 000 like him) in the world, everyone else is just a wuss and games nowadays are madefor wusses.

I'm reasonably sure it's four JAW hits on Veteran. And really, the difficulty with the Pingers comes more from the progressively more "inconvenient" environments they're put in. I believe that's called "good level design".

Not to mention the pinger has back-up during subsequent encounters.
still its not as greatly stayisfying as killing the hunter/mothership because they were too hard

Im about 3/4 way through a second Post Human Warrior playthrough and I killed the first Pinger in well under 30 seconds, infact it was probably under 15 seconds. I immediately Cloaked, ran up to it, put 4 C4 on its back and took it out with the detonation.

The Pinger, along with the entire game, is not difficult regardless of setting. This is one of the easiest FPS games ive ever played.

The Pinger is much more terrifying in the book, Alcatraz states that he saw a little girls eyeballs burst from the Sonar Ping. The Ping is a pretty awesome Idea for a Ceph Vehicle when you think about it and the Pinger is hard depending on how you want to fight it, Crysis games are about choice.

The hunter and mother ship were alot more satsifying than the pinger, but neither was really hard. Even on Delta both of them are pretty easy. Any Pinger that has backup (Grand Central/Time Square) is just flat out annoying.

Dear noobs,

Stop playing on Easy-mode. Pingers do not die easily on Post-Human Warrior

<3

I insta-killed the first pinger you meet in under 10 seconds on PHW... It's not exactly hard =/

You're right, the first Pinger isn't exactly hard. The third Pinger is exactly hard.

1. stack 2-4 C4 on the ground near the pylons where you know he will pass
2. go on the roof of the gas station
3. set off c4 when he gets in the zone
4. fire off a single JAW or whatever to finish the job, he should be pretty much done at this point and never saw you

There is no gas station in time square. I believe you meant Police Station.

Yeah, everything is better in the books, theres no restrictions on gameplay. You just simply can't describe THAT in a game.

How you choose to kill a Pinger only changes how long it takes to do so, not how hard. Cloak makes the game a cake walk.

Especially when you can go through 99% of game without killing anyone, just using cloak - I tried that, fun & challenging in few moments.
But never the less - far easier than original game.
Obviously consolers can't handle some level of difficulty, everything needs to have one weak spot where you shoot with Bazooka/explosives/some other stupid invention.

then try to kill it by only armor mode :) see if its easy...

Actually, I just remembered the other day, the last Pinger battle is the easiest by far...

...because it's the one you just blast from a tank. And you just know why they put that moment in the game, after the grief the Pingers give you when you don't know how to beat them yet, it's just so damn satisfying.

I had completely forgotten about that one, and I don't consider it to be a "Pinger battle" per se.

The terminal battle is the hardest. I know, you have C4, swarmers, HMGs and JAWs, but that pinger is extremely strong. In the first play, I forgot about the C4, I killed all the pingers and heavies without it.

Me neither, I just think it's funny that it's in the game.

Okay, question here. Does the Pinger trigger C4 just by stepping on it? I think someone said something to that effect in this thread, and I'm pretty sure I've just seen it happen - I had the one on Times Square down to the last hit, and apparently it just stepped on it and blew itself up.

This was on Super Soldier after dying about a zillion times first, so imagine the look on my face. If that works, you actually have enough time to just rig the entire area with C4 before you shoot the two Ceph that trigger the Pinger, and then you can just sit in a corner and wait until it kills itself. Has anyone tried this?

Nothing is really that much exaggerated in Crysis Legion, I'm guessing they just took it out because Germany likes little girls.

I've taken a pinger out on PHW with the majestic, and an alien gun ship with majestic... because I'm cool like that

I took out a Gunship with grab and throw. Beat that.

Also, still waiting on an answer to my C4 question... anyone?
