Crysis (PS3) Little to no vegetation interaction?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 5:25 pm

I already have crysis on PC but I thought I would get it on PS3 to take a look at how it would look (and also to nab some trophies) and it looks great for the most part.
I was just wondering though why the PS3 version doesn't really have vegetation interaction whilst the 360 does. When i say vegetation interaction i am not talking about the trees breaking apart (that works fine) but more so the fact that the vegetation doesn't react to you as you walk through it. Obviously not a major issue and wouldn't keep me from playing the game, i am just curious.
Is it a problem with the PS3's GPU memory? dual 256mb cards compared to the 360's single 512mb gpu?

Yeah that bothers me a little bit. Far Cry 2 (PS3) released 3 years ago has great vegetation reaction but this game doesn't. What a shame. Anyways it's no big deal foe me.

Haven't noticed anything like that. I've played the game on both 360 and PS3 and for the most part they seem identical. Only that during large explosions the 360 version lags harder. The "dual 256 mb cards" as appose to the "single 512 mb" would have nothing to do with anything because the 360 uses 512 mb shared throughout the whole system while the PS3 has 256mb dedicated at all times and another 256 that is shared which is more efficient than the Xbox 360.

That's strange, most of mine seem to be interactive and move and react if i walk through them or shoot at them..
There are a few select bushes and tress that don't, but for the most part they do.
Ive also played both, and they seem pretty similar in the interactive department.

Yeah exactly I haven't had any problems like that either. No idea what he's talking about.

Hmm this is odd, whenever I walk into a plant it just clips through me.
Plants such as ferns and these banana trees (or whatever they are) seem to react to people on the videos using the 360 version but not for me :/ Image

My friend also has the same problem so I am not sure what is going on with that.

Crysis PS3 is 3,7gb in size while the 360 is 4,1gb.
