Crysis 2 Recommended and Required spec's?

Post » Sun Feb 22, 2009 8:00 am

Was looking for a search tool to prevent this question being asked again, if it has already been asked, but I could not find one, so Im sorry if its already been answered.

Does anyone know what the minimum and recommended specs for crysis 2 will be?

Will it work best on Nvidia or ATI/AMD tech?

Thanks in advance.

Nothing official yet, although apparently the minimum specs will actually be lower than they were for the first Crysis. We'll all have to wait for specifics until closer to the game's release.
ATi is currently the king of graphics cards with their HD5970. The GTX480 only beats it (as far as I know) in the Heaven DirectX 11 benchmark. Then again, it's not about what performance you get in a benchmark, but in the actual games.
When will people stop comparing a dual gpu card to a single gpu card? Nvidia currently has the upper hand in performance by around 10-15%.

I have also heard that the requirements will be lower than Crysis 1.

Minimal requirements: less than Crysis.

My guess:
Nvidia GT6300
Intel Pentium 4
1GB RAM

My guess on recommended hardware:
NVIDIA GT470
Intel i3
4GB RAM

Cool, thanks for the replies.

ATI vs Nvidia, yes 5870 was the fastest single gpu out at that time, but Nvidia have now taken the lead on a single gpu card, but I dont see any chance of nvidia having the fastest released gpu, so in my opinion the 5970 is still the fastest and best gpu out. Untill Nvidia sort out their heat and power issues, ATI will remain top dog.

Anyhow, my question was, will Crysis 2 be better on Nvidia tech or ATI, such as Crysis 1 was optimised for Nvidia, will the same happen with Crysis 2?

BTW, I currently have AMD PII x4 965 (125watt) @ stock 3.4
4gb ram
ATI 3870, which Iv yet to find any reason to upgrade.

Im looking forward to Crysis 2 and FEAR, so maybe these two games will be the perfect excuse to upgrade my GPU to say a 5870 (or 6850/6870 if ATI release them anytime soon)

I kind of hope you're wrong... if that's the recommended specs, it'll take a 480 or 5970 to even come close to maxing it out.

By recommended hardware, I meant what would be needed to max. it out. Although I meant i5 and not i3.

Anyway, the Radeon 5970 is the fastest graphics card out there today. If you consider cheaper options, the GeForce GTX 480 takes the throne. My guess is that with both companies winning the competition in certain categories, that Crytek will optimize better so that both brands experience the best possible performance.

Let's hope not. I guess it doesn't really matter for me, as I am not expecting to be able to max it out regardless. I expect it'll look a bit better with my 5770 than it does on Xbox 360, and I think the 360 version looks damn good already.

I'm sure any quad and a 260 or 5770 will be able to max this out. Its not going to take a 2000usd build to max this out. I don't believe they are going to be using Crysis 2 as a benchmark like the first Crysis. They want to sell copies, hence the swithover to the consoles.

I don't think any of the cards that were available when the first Crysis came out could max the game, so it's possible that we'll have to wait for a later generation of GPUs to max Crysis 2. I hope not, though.

As nice as that would be, a 260 or 5770 can't max out Bad Company 2, and I doubt Crysis 2 will have lower requirements than that. I think Talon95 is probably about right ("recommended specs" often means what's needed to get midrange graphics, hence my initial disagreement) in suggesting a 470 will be needed to max it out.

Crysis 2 is actually supposed to be released holidays 2010, which translates into November or December.

Crytek has said already that the Engine is very scalable. At the highest settings, it will take a mother load of power. However you won't need to run on highest settings, as High or Medium will still look great and run great on middleware. Crytek themselves said this. :)

However on highest settings, expect to have your hardware pushed to the limit. In any case, expect to have whatever hardware you have, to be pushed to the limit and optimized to its maximum potential while still running great. (no pun intended).

Actually its coming out right when Ati launces their next series in Nov/Dec

And Bad Company 2 has higher min/rec requirements than the original, which is said to have higher requirements then Crysis 2. All I know is that the new Cryengine is supposed to make the game more playable with not as expensive hardware. Maybe I am wrong, I just don't want to have to wait anymore. Good gaming to you guys!

I don't know what res you are playing at but the 260 and 5770 get 45-47 fps on high and 2AA/4AF stock. Im sure they can handle maxed out settings decently. Time will tell gentlemen and regardless it will be worth it.

I have a GeForce GTX285, and I can't play on the highest settings because of my processor.

Bad Company 2 is much more processor intensive than graphic intensive, which is why a 285 + Core Two Duo @ highest settings= unplayable.

I was always told what you spend on your video card put into your processor, otherwise you develop a bottleneck. Lga 775 can easily upgrade to a nice quad for about 150. The 285 is a nice card, Spend a couple more dollars and you will be golden. I don't think Crysis 1 is much processor intensive as it is GPU, maybe number 2 will be.

so true, I started off with a 5000+ BE, but have since upgraded to a Phenom II x4. Iv seen many improvements, but at the time of upgrading the cpu, I saw no need to up the gfx. Maybe Crysis 2 will be the deciding factor.

Pre-orders out, System Requirements are not. Where's the logic in that? I hate this growing trend, devs are so secretive that they won't even give you the most basic information until 2 days before release.
