Crysis 2: Retaliation D.L.C-Why You Should Buy it!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:08 pm

No thanks,

I don't fancy giving them more money before they patch this game.

They've had 2 months and still they can't get it right

A fool and his money are easily parted.

^

Fix grain glitch please, why is it so hard, half the game works fine already.

there was a public multiplayer beta two months before the official release. that makes 4 months to fix the multiplayer. i won′t spend a penny on an unfinished game. neither i′ll buy a 1200 map pack for CoD! the 800 point price seems right for me, but why should i get them if the MP experience it′s so poor.

Whether they patch this game (they have a post on the fixes) or not Crysis 2 has been fun for me since the demo was released. Bugs/Glitches aren't going to shy me away from enjoying this game. If they fix them then awesome. If they don't Oh well. The DLC adds more variety to the game making it last longer for me to play so I'll buy it. End of story.

Call of Duty series(code name C.o.D) Is known for being a game in which the devs release the game, put out a few patches, put out DLC, completely abondon game once it is release, move on to the next game, and repeat! . Nevertheless, that is only because C.o.D is a game that is released anually(every year).

Crysis 2 is not that game! I fully expect the devs to support this game months, if not years, down the road. Is 10 bucks(800 MS points) a bit expensive for 4 maps? Possibly, but, thats for the end user to decide.

Hypocrisy: Most of you guys complaing are the same people that pay $15(1200 MS points) for Mw2 maps. I believed the B.Ops maps cost the same(I dont play that crap game so i would'nt know)

Why all the hate for Crytek and Crysis 2? Honestly, i dont know, it is possible that people may feel that they are going to pull an activision on us. I doubt that will happen though.

Patches: They take time. A patch is not the silver bullet many of you guys think it is. Everything cant be patched with one patch. Also, given the complexity of the Cryengine, it is evident that the patching process is time consuming.

Communication: Crytek's communication with the community is unexcusible. Their communication with the community has been mediocre at best. However, I will agree with them when they say that everything they have answered all your questions numerous times(people keep spamming the forums; hence, their replies are unseen by the majority)

Call of Duty series I don't own any Call of Duties.

Crysis 2 is not that game! This is why I brought it. But yeah 800 points for maps I may not be able to play due to a broken game and near dead (xbox) community is too much for me.
WHy buy 4 maps if I might not even see them in the playlist, or be able to join a match with locals?

Hypocrisy Not here, of course I buy DLC, for working games, and I brought both map packs for HALO Reach? Why? Because for one thing, THE GAME WORKS, I have no problem finding matches that play as intended, let alone can just find matches WITH locals. Bungie, have always had good interaction with the HALO community and I expect 343i will be the same when they shortly take over the franchise.
How can you assume what many of us do or don't play. You are way off the mark in regards to my gaming tastes and ownership. So how am I for example a hypocrite for buying DLC for working products, yet desiring to not buy DLC for a game that is pretty much unplayable for me at the moment?

Patches: Yes they take time, some companies get them out really fast too, problem is, this game when released had obviously not been play tested properly enough and shouldn't of required any patching except for the expected exploits and cheats that come with any release, this is further reinforced by claims it was released months too early due to leaked copies.
It's understandable to have compatibility issues with PC versions upon release with any game due to the completely different computer hardware and OS setups out there, but on a console where everyones setup is the same????? Shouldn't happen in this day and age.

Communication: Agreed that communication has been bad between Crytek and players, as for answers, players should not have to trawl through user posts to see updates from Crytek representatives.
gamesas.com has a homepage and a news page. What is the point of them if they are not used?
Some more official stickied threads with better answers would of been good too. But I mean look at the last patch thread, it made me feel like I was reading notes unrelated to the xbox versions update.

Sorry nothing against the OP, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but being a rabid fanboy and buying DLC to support a company that has been pretty rude to it's customers IMO, is why games companies keep this up, as long as they get our money they won't change, businesses only take note and change their ways when their wallets are affected.
To me buying this DLC before the game is fixed is being hypocritical.

But this is the interwebz, there will always be the fanboys who defend a product no matter the facts presented. I've come to accept that.

Not gonna buy until they release a patch that fixes matchmaking and addresses lag.

Right now I can only play 2 or 3 games before MM self destructs, which means I currently play the SAME 4 to 6 of the 12 total shipped maps with my friends before the matchmaking collapses and kicks us all to the MP frontend menu. Skyline, Terminal, Pier 17, Statue are the only 4 maps I can get into laggy games.

I'm NOT spending $10 on maps I'll probably never get to play.

What I wonder is why when I played the Beta Demo right up until a day or 2 before release when they pulled it with very few problems, did the full game I purchased come broken and with MP changed from what I had been playing up until then, surely they didn't recode and press the game in 24-48 hours???

Agreed the time the demo was online should of been enough time to fix anything still considered broken in game.
Not many companies do a Beta test then release the game a day or 2 later, they usually take what they've learnt work on that game some more then release it at least a month to several months later.

Releasing it early obviously didn't stop the rampant PC piracy that has taken place, all it did was rip off console users.

Ok but if hardly any locals buy it, what's going to happen? I'll be stuck playing the new maps with American, French, British and other people from god knows where making me red bar after waiting 30 minutes to find a match, then put up with disconnects and being dropped while starting a match?

Seems like a problem to me.

1. With locals? Idk about that. I do know that there is a MAP pack only playlist.

2. I simply mentioned the CoD because it is the most known and most selling game(maps as well) I used it as an example for that reason. Which is why i implied what i did. I never said everyone is a hyocrite and everyone plays CoD. I have the reach noble maps too I would get the defiance but im enjoying this more than reach right now and I only have enough at the moment to get defiance maps or the retaliation dlc. Thats a different story though.

3. To clear up the last part. Personally, im not a fanboy. Once I see something better that this game, i will hop all over that game and so on. I go to where i can get the best gaming experience(which is why i plan to make my own gaming pc). Not saying you called me a fanboy. But, im just clearing things up so others dont get the wrong impression.

10 dollars is a pack of cigarettes. Why are people so stingy all of a sudden? or is everyone just poor?

OP is like me. I'm sure this game will be fixed eventually. Like people have said there are a lot of bugs do you think all that can be fixed in 2 months? Actually, in the 2 months we've gotten 2 patches and a hotfix. Are Crytek that useless? No.

I have the DLC, and the new maps their own play-list, and they are by far the best 4 maps in this game. They are impressive.

Wow... that's a bold statement. I haven't played the maps yet but would you of said that if they were in the game on release or is it because you're just bored with the old ones?

Jesus.. I want to play this so bad now lol

you are not alone lmao. Honestly, I wouldnt go as far as to say that they are the top 4 in the game. I mean, I love skyline, parking deck and others...i do forget the names though. I hate light house, and pier 17 is so-so. These 4 new maps look promising. I'll have to play them for myself though.

There are 3 playlists dedicated to the new map pack. "Retaliation TIA," "Retaliation IA," and "Retaliation Onslaught" which is an objective based playlist including Crash Site, Extraction and Capture the Relay. I'm not sure if they are being rotated in the original playlists as I have not investigated that yet...

Hey dark, buy these maps dude and lets play some crash site, they are great.

IMO they are the better than the originals, and I like all except 3 of the the regular maps. They definitely breathe some new life into mp. They are large and well designed. I wasn't disappointed.
