Crysis 2 reviewed by Zero Punctuation

Post » Fri May 20, 2011 9:48 pm

hey guys, not sure if this is the right forum for this, but people deserve to see it. As many of you know Zero Punctuation is one of the most cruel critics to gaming, quite often focusing his video reviews on the negative aspects of a game. So check out his Crysis 2 review here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/3079-Crysis-2

That was far from what I was expecting from him, I guess he saw some element to the story that I apparently missed completely.

I wonder if the popular opinion will be changed in light of his review, people have a nasty habit of wanting to agree with people like yahtzee and suddenly the game isn't really so bad, is it?

is Charlie Sheen Australian?

I was rather surprised by his nice appraisal of the game, his review of Crysis 1 mostly focused on the obvious CPU-whoring beauty of the game

Yeah, that's the most positive review I've seen from Yahtzee in a dog's age... wow. And the fact that he actually compared it to Half-Life 2... double wow. When you think about it, though, it's true that Crysis 2 sidesteps a lot of the standard stuff that basically every shooter does now because every shooter tries to be like Call of Duty, and that's something he always complains about. So it makes sense that he'd appreciate the fact that this game tries to be different.

Now let's just hope EA understands that what keeps Crysis 2 afloat despite the technical issues is the fact that it's relatively original and intelligent for its genre so that it doesn't have all its teeth pulled for the third instalment. *cough*Killzone*cough*

Pretty sure he would argue it :p

British, lives in Australia, easy mistake to make for us westerners who can't tell an Englishman from a Welshman.

That's not the impression I got from him at all. The only thing he says he missed from Crysis 1 was the alien mothership part.

I suggest you go back and watch his Crysis 1 review:

Not only does he tear into alot of the problems C1 had, he also takes the opportunity to attack Far Cry while he's at it.
