Crysis runs better off the disk than installed?

Post » Thu Jan 08, 2009 1:19 am

I was suffering major frame rate issues in SP when things where getting busy so I deleted it off my hard drive and started playing off the disk and it runs a lot better. Has anyone else noticed this? Crytek do you recommend installing the game or running the game directly from the disk?

I'm running off the HDD and I haven't had any issues framerate wise in the campaign. When somebody called in the Orbital Strike in multiplayer the game almost locked up though.

yeah i did the same. I thought the game looked amazing so i installed it to see if the framerate would improve, but now that you mention it, ive noticed much more framerate drops in singleplayer during large firefights........Wierd, but load times are defianatly shorter

I have been running it from the disk with minimal framerate issues. Has Crytek come out and said which way to run the game is better? I have so little room on my HDD I want to know for sure before I go deleting a bunch of XBL Arcade games.

I played SP for about 3 hours without the disk installed last night and installed the disk to HDD this morning then played for a few more hours, and haven't noticed any framerate issues in SP. Playing on a 360 Slim, fwiw.

The games is WAY better installed on HD:

-2x faster load times
-Pop-Up/Pop-in almost gone
-Better framerate in every case

Installed to HDD on new 250gb Slim with no framerate lag in campaign or multiplayer significantly.

When somebody called in the Orbital Strike in multiplayer the game almost locked up though.
This doesn't happen for me.
