Recently there have been talks that pc version of crysis 2 didnt sell well. I recently did some calculations to figure it out.
Recently EA reveals in an invertor conference that Crysis 2 sold 2 million units. Source : http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/05/04/sequels-sell-dragon-age-2-crysis-2-dead-space-2-all-hit-over-2-million-sales.aspx
And according to VGAChatz which does not count PC DD sales, http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/35003/crysis-2/
Xbox sold 759k units lifetime
PS3 sold 510k units lifetime
PC sold 180k units lifetime.
But these numbers dont add upto 2 million. Also, I am sure EA can does get accurate data regarding pc sales because we have online activations.
So 2million -(759k + 510k + 180K) = 550k in PC DD sales
So total number of pc version sold = 550k+180k = 730k which is more than ps3 version and on par with xbox version
Now if Dx11 patch comes in and we get MAXIMUM textures the sale would further increasing.
So if I were EA and Crytek I would care about pc audience. And I think they are with mod tools and dx11 patch
