Crysis 3 Soundtrack

Post » Sun Aug 19, 2012 2:25 pm

Hey guys.

Do we have any info on the kind of soundtrack that will actually be in the game? I hope the Dambusters demo music was just placeholders because it was absolutely horrible.

Let us remember both how INCREDIBLE the Crysis OST was and how utterly brilliantly it was advertised:

Watch at 2:38. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet soundtrack at the end. It's POWERFUL and inspired! You can almost chew on the passion!

The music on the Crysis 3 tech trailer was pretty good. Not amazing, but MUCH better than anything Crysis 2 churned out. However I am reluctant to believe that it'll be in the game, as the Crysis 2 DX11 Trailer theme was also quite good and it wasn't in.

Crysis 2 had a far better soundtrack than Crysis 1

Crysis 2 had a select few tracks that were extremely remarkable (New York Aftermath, Rampage, SOS New York...).

I can count the number of these tracks with the fingers of one hand, and everything else was so generic it was vomit-inducing.

Crysis had a masterfully composed main theme which bled quite well into most of the soundtrack. While it had less unique tracks that were remarkable (such as the ones I pointed avobe), the average level of the soundtrack was far superior.

CRYSIS

Strickland's March - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI2B-TyTqZ4
Phyrric Victory - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYqE708lBxk
Main Theme (Combat Variant) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7bolTpAZsE
First Light - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhyG37Ch_Aw

Every single one of those themes brings chills down my spine...

CRYSIS

Alien Suite - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZJ96CzsAfg
Booooooooooooring.
Morituri - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upQhv2gCbTg
AMAZING.
Encounter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uCSeYzGzhU
Boring.
New York Aftermath - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNQ8z3k-gdU
GREAT.
Intersection - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGCsAX3KbGI
One of the best tracks IMO. REALLY good.
Under the Clock - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM6AUt2Myzc&feature=relmfu
Ughhhhhh... Boring.

It's inconsistent as hell and it drives me nuts.

Crysis 2 had a superior soundtrack but Crysis' soundtrack was a better fit for the atmosphere and the pieces were implemented better

I loved Crysis Warhead's track the best, the jungle drum theme fit the game so well and set my adrenaline pumping.

Crysis 2's soundtrack was iffy. It was good in some parts and bad in others, but it never got an emotional response out of me.

The Crysis 3 Tech Trailer soundtrack I thought was pretty damn good, it sends chills up my spine. If Crysis 3 has more tracks like that then I will be thoroughly impressed!

I would hope for the composer to be either Inon Zur or the dude who made the Warhead soundtrack, Peter Antovszki.

Zimmer is all hype, no substance, Slavov and Tillescu are very inconsistent. And sadly, I believe Slavov and Tillescu will be making a comeback. The soundtrack in the Dambusters demo was terrible.

I remember my first time touching Crysis 2.

Got into the game, see the credits, reach the menu. In the menu a music that sounds like "sh*t has gone down the toilet, all hope is lost" starts and me "way to kill the mood man -.-' "

Exactly my point, Strickland. The music in Crysis 2 is so... Disempowering.

Way to get you in the mood of the post-human superdude hope of mankind...

You all are exaggerating - Crysis 2's soundtrack was good, if not excellent.
Both soundtracks are fitting good to their corresponding games - Hans Zimmer, Lorne Balfe, Timan Sillescu and Borislav Slavov did an awesome job for Crysis 2, and Inon Zur did an awesome one for Crysis 1.

They didn't do an awesome job. It was an absolutely "meh" job. For such a big names in music their execution was sorely lacking.

The theme of THIS game is to empower you. YOU hunt. YOU kick ass. The music in the Dambusters demo was a generic as hell, boring and mood-killing. I want something POWERFUL with touches of tribal/jungle. Like Crysis, but even better.

EDIT:

Just listen to this, damn it:

Select ARMOR playthrough.

BOOOOOOORIIIIIIIIIING.
