Crysis start up says graphics card "unapproved" ? but works.

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:14 am

Upon booting up Crysis 2 for the 1st time, I got a message that says I was running is "Unsupported" and gives my card model make and internal ids.

I went ahead and got into the game okay. I didn't have a cursor for the mouse show up, but was able to navigate around to look at the controls and other menu items. Doesn't Cyrsis have a mouse cursor? It seems to be okay otherwise. I didn't actually start playing. Just want to see what up with this.

My card should be fine and runs all my other newer games. Thing is, I have a graphics card built into the motherboard too. Which is bypassed and the GeForce is being used. I bought this card as a mid-high end two years ago. I am not about to buy another thing for this computer for awhile.

The card is a XFX GeForce 9600 GSO 1 GB. I have the latest drivers for it and run PhysX, and Cudo stuff on it. I also have the ability to run 3 in SLi. (I sure love my MB!). Please see my computers inventory for more info.

Oh, my virus picked up a PUP that I know this install put on. "Adware-GameSpyArcade". If I quaranteen this, would it disable the game? I EALLY hate adware being hoisted on my computer without my permission (which I never give).

Have a good one gamers,

PS Tried to upload an attachment of error message. Board software said no and my Signature is no longer showing up on my posts, Hmmmm? [had to manual the signature after checking profile]

so your question is?

yeah they have a message if they have unsupported gpu cards

i dont think they tested all laptops that have build in gpu's

second of that when you have a message that its a unsupported card, it wont say that it wont work, its only not tested.

Dude if you have message which says that something is unsupported then try to run game, if it works then play, if not then contact support or w/e. Idk how grown man can behave like blond woman siting behind PC, if some error pop up it won't blow your hands out, seriously..... >.>

Hi Maxwell,

What graphics setting do you use? High, highest?

I hadn't set anything yet. It is at 1024X786(Medium-High I think). I asked if going into the Menu Area, the user has a visible mouse cursor to navigate with. The reason for this question was that if there is suppose to be a "Cursor" pointer and I don't have one, then I need to look at something else maybe.

The game from that menu was hard to navigate, but I mannaged, without a visible cursor. I do not understand why a later model 9600 series 1GB Nvidia GeForce would be unsupported anyway? Considering my Quad Core DDR3 8GB x64 system. I am thinking - plenty good enough. That is why I don't believe it and wonder if it was ACTUALLY marked as unsupported by the games manufacture.

Anyway, I would be happy at what ever screen mode it felt best to use.

I am also happy to know a few kind folks here who are more mature and not so condensending. I am glad to make your aquiantance Maxwell.
:)

It works like a dream on my GT 240, which is a bit better than a 9600GT. So it should work on yours too.

Adware-GameSpyArcade

Is not "adware/spyware/virus" .. it's Game Spy! It probably installed with a game you installed, maybe even Crysis 2! It's a gaming client that people use to connect and play games through.
