Someone please answer. I would like to know if it'll be possible to insert the Crysis 2 key into Steam.

BTW: Crytek should have used the Steam DRM from the begging. Leak would be a much smaller problem, if it would require to be activated on Steam in order to work..

Yeah, Steam worked real well when HL2 was leaked.

It was a completely different game than HL2 that we know, and back then it wasn't integrated with Steam.
TBH, it were just large amount of unfinished files, and it needed large amounts of additional code to work at all. More like some of game's resources, than a real game.

Yet achievements can give people little targets to aim for, or more direction with ways of extending their experience. They can also help developers to set challenges which would never have been able to be put into the main game. For example: how many people would seriously put a garden gnome in the HL2:ep2 rocket? Yet they saw the achievement and tried it, improving their experience with the game. Yet valve could hardly make it mandatory!

The only people who don't like achievements either misunderstand them and confuse them with 'zomg you bought the game - 5G' (which need to die) or just like being non conformist for the sake of it. Whether or not such people like them or not, they WILL be in all games in the next few years. If you don't like them so much, if it causes so much rage for a game to give you a little digital emblem to say you've done something, turn off the notifications.

It's also a surprisingly effective method of DRM. People like achievements. Add in achievements and less people will pirate.

Its not so much "being non-conformist", I really just don't give two sh*ts about any achievements... I would much rather have the developer spend their time modelling weapons or pouring over game code for bugs than developing a stupid achievement system.

Seriously, they add nothing to the enjoyment of my playtime and honestly they are a little bit insulting to my intelligence. I can set my own goals thank you very much, i don't need some game bugging me about getting that achievement saying I need "20 sliding kills" when I really don't care and could set that goal myself. The buzz and medal that goes along with achievements are even worse. Seriously nobody cares if you found all the Easter eggs, only juveniles care about stupid epeen crap like achievements.

My 2 Cents.

Yet most people enjoy them being there, not just 'juveniles' but pretty much every gamer. Console and PC alike. The 'achievement haters' are the extremely small minority. The fact is that well made achievements will introduce even people who think themselves so uberly awesome to new ways of playing. Just how it is. If you don't like them, you don't have to even bother with them. Being 'offended' at them is like being offended at button prompts when you pick up weapons. They don't mean anything to you or negatively impact you in any way with their presence.

Also, they're probably the least intrusive version of DRM known to man (as i've already said, people like achievements, and achievements don't mean anything if you can't see them), and you also are overestimating the work you need to put in for achievements. One guy can handle it without an issue :)

For those saying 'achievements shouldn't keep you interested in a game'. That is perfectly true. We don't need Skinner's box achievements of the 'bleep bloop, finished a level' type. But achievements which encourage the player to try to play the game in an entirely different way IN EXTENSION to the main experience are very good to have. Most people complain about crysis 1 being easy due to the cloak. If there was a 'no cloak' achievement, many more players would have discovered the awesomeness of pushing the suit to the edge by not using that easy mode option. How is that a BAD thing in any way? Not at all and yes, maybe YOU have thought of no cloaking the game, but many people haven't.

Essentially, you're going to have to live with achievements, because all games will have them soon, and that's a good thing.
