Crysis 1

Post » Sat Nov 07, 2009 6:59 pm

Since I was never able to experience Crysis 1 on pc (I have an imac for work...so no pc gaming for me)...I decided to watch all of Crysis 1's cinematics on youtube to get an idea of the how the story played out. I thought it was quite epic.

I'm Half way through Crysis 2 on Xbox 360 (which looks amazing on it too)...This one is turning out very epic aswell...

I'm wondering if it would be possible for Crytek to make a port of Crysis 1 to console? Would this work?...or are the set locations of Crysis 1 too grand for consoles to handle.

I remember Farcry 2 having quite a huge environment to play in (which consoles handled very well)

Yeah him and Psycho Are alive. I Wish They Remake Crysis 1 for Xbox.
And I think Crysis 3 will be The Time Between 1 & 2. So we will see Nomad again?
And did you Notice how nomad and Alcatraz Are Very Quite?lol
Have you played Crysis Warhead? Its Psycho's point of view in the story.

Crysis 1 port to console? Not possible. It'd have to be completely remade. Crysis 2 has half the texture quality of Crysis 1, and had certain things from it dumbed down/removed in order to work on consoles. It's mainly graphical tricks used. I'm a PC gamer, so I'm just waiting for the DX11 to get my REAL graphics, but there's a reason why my game doesn't look as good as I expected it.

As for Nomad, no one really knows. We can just assume he went back to the island and well....died. A character bios on Prophet, i think on gamesas or something, talked about him being the ONLY SURVIVOR of his squad.....that says a lot.

I did take a look at the cinematic videos for 'Warhead' on youtube...Psycho's story is a nice touch and a good window into his character...hope we see him and Nomad in C3.

You can always buy the device that lets you use your wireless xbox 360 controller to play it on the computer or just use a wired one. I svck at Crysis 1 on PC so the controller might let me get better at it.

Yeah like straight riley said, if you can get a computer that will run it at decent settings.

And I Don't think that they will do that anytime soon, I mean its like going back to Duke nukem 1 and porting it to 360, its old tech and a step in the wrong direction.

Right, Right.

I Think Crysis 3 will Be the Timeline Between 1&2 and we will find out what happend to Nomad and Psycho!
Also I think Nomads Suit was in Hargreave's Room where all the 4 nano suits(Rite before the Ceph Came in and the building Exploded) were wasn't it? Or am I mistaken?

I really think they need to do a Cryengine 3 rebuild. I had Crysis on PC and even though I was able to play through all of it, I found the constant tweaking I had to do to make it run at a decent 30FPS was a huge distraction.

The whole "they'd have to totally rebuild it" crowd is laughable. No kidding. But the pay-off financially would be huge! Think Sales, Sales, Sales...The storys already there. The engine to translate it is the best thing I've ever seen on the 360. Heck, they could even brush up the story a bit, allowing players to find clues that would tie into the second game. I understand all the PC purist that are out there, but it really should have nothing to do with PC owner ego. The fact is they just released an epic story with Crysis 2 and even I wanted to go back and play the first game to make sure I was seeing everything that was there.

The C3 engine would make a great console version of the original story. Sure they would have to rescale maps and moderate the graphics, but I think the C3 engine on 360 was more consistantly playable than anything I was able to experience on my Alienware back in 2007. There is a huge body of 360/PS3 gamers that never got to experience the first game that would love a chance at it. And thats what I call a built in market.

I can say with full confidence that a Crysis remake for consoles will never happen. As is obvious by C2's distinct differences from the original, EA/Crytek clearly don't think gameplay like Crysis will sell on the console market. Crysis 2's limited environment barely ran on the 360 as is, rebuilding an already poorly optimized game built specifically for PC is just not something that can be done with guaranteed profits. Even if Crytek were willing to undergo a complete rewrite of Crysis for console, EA would never fund the idea, they want "new" material (and by "new" I mean "generic campaigns with CoD-esque multiplayer that can be released per year")

I doubt Crysis 3 will be a full game based between 1 and 2, as the Crysis story was said to be a trilogy, and the cliffhangers at the end of 2 need resolving. However, I would hope that we learn through some method the fate of Nomad, a flashback or similar in the third game perhaps.

I kinda hope for them to create a Crysis 3 where they could make all 3 (if we set alcatraz and prophet as the same person) fighting in different places on earth, (since they said in-game they were everywhere... so this was new york only...)

The better do that.. They need a better closure for the Crysis story.... ( I appreciate that story.. hope they make it up in the future with a great, epic reunion and fight)

oh and less-similar-to-modern-warfare-2 loading screens... still.. Crysis 2 improved in gameplay... and still looks magnificent for being DX9...

IMHO, Crysis 1/WARHEAD will never be able to run on consoles, hardware issue(s). Lets face it when it comes to power PC is King and will remain there because the market changes to fast. I agree... it would be cool for you console guys to experience the 2 games like we did a few years ago but like I stated, the hardware u use is limited?

This is probably why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PivoSi2VvqA&feature=player_embedded

Wow. I didn't know I was in the presence of such grand omniscience. I really love how you know exactly how EA execs think. I need you to help me the next time I buy stock. And to think I've run my marketing business for so many years without you.

As for "never" being able to build crysis on a console you're somewhat misinformed. No, it would not be the same game as the pc, but I don't think it would need to be to become a console sales success. There are several games that have come close to the level size and detail that would serve a crysis console experience, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Farcry Predator, and Bad Company 2 just for starts. Console gamers don't have the same crazy expectations of perfection that post Crysis pc gamers are afflicted with.

Just because it's wouldn't satisfy your PC snobbery doesn't mean that it's unimportant to EA's financial future. PC specific games, while impressive in capability, represent an era in gaming that is slowly becoming part of the past. The original Crysis was the last PC game I will ever buy. Not because it's so impressive, but because I will never fork out that kind of cash to make a computer game play well again. It is strictly 360 for me Mano. And if you think I'm the only one you're sorely mistaken. There's a reason Cryteks CEO said there never gonna do a strictly PC game again. It's called staying in business. The console market is where you go if you want the lights to stay on at your studio.
